Agree. Looks like Potter wouldn’t commit despite giving him every chance to do so. Cooper wasn’t top of my list but at least he wants the job and will be motivated to prove himself after his previous role. Also shows Tanner was right yesterday in saying no deal was agreed with Potter. And he was sceptical we’d manage to attract him.

Romano got it wrong for BR's replacement as well - he was saying Benitez and then I think it was Tanner who revealed it was Dean Smith. Gutted, was looking forward to Potter getting the role.

Who do you want for next season in the PL
lcfc_forever replied to Fightforever's topic in Transfer Talk
We've been spoilt as fans when you think about the size of our club and what we've achieved - when I started supporting the club, I didn't dream we'd win all 4 major domestic trophies (incl. Community Shield) in my lifetime. But if I could change two on-field things, it would be Ihenacho scoring that chance to put us 3-1 up vs Spurs and take us to the Champions League, and Kante staying one more season - would have loved to see how all our PL winning team did in the CL. -
Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'
lcfc_forever replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Not sure that makes sense - a sale is immediately booked on the accounts, it's the purchase of players that's typically amortised? -
For context, Tanner thought that because he wouldn't want the role at this time given our FFP challenges and may have his eyes on a bigger role.
-
Romano is smart, it's likely the deal is further on than he's suggesting. It then allows him to do more tweets about how it's progressing, unless someone gets to the story ahead of him.
-
Chill dude, was just saying Olympiacos are struggling to finance him. Agree we couldn't afford him either probably!
-
I'm excited, as long as we get a motivated Potter with something to prove. Concerned if it's a jaded version from the Chelsea experience, but you'd hope (!) the board will be able to work that out.
-
In contrast, a Greek journalist said Olympiakos love him, and want to keep him given the role he played in their Euro Conference League win. But they're likely to have issues paying Porto the fee they want.
-
I think the board like Potter for the way he builds the team environment and culture at a club. There's a whole chapter in a book called 'Edge' by Ben Lyttleton about what he did at Östersunds FK, and when reading it, I thought he'd be the type of coach our owners would go for. He innovates and challenges the players outside of their comfort zone. He's an intelligent guy and Leicester is the type of environment that would be a good fit for him where he can really influence things. But I am concerned about how much the Chelsea experience has affected him, and whether his motivation is there. If it is, would prefer him for the role over all the candidates except Corberan who is the standout for me.

Yeah, that's it - if we had a half-decent GK, we stay up. Simple as. Even if BR had dropped Ward earlier, we may have got the extra points to keep us in the league then. That January transfer window was crazy as well in hindsight - if we'd just bought a good goalkeeper, that would have made far more difference than getting a winger and left back in. And we still tried to get Harrison too so the goalkeeping spot wasn't a priority. Bizarre, but Rudkin had given Rodgers almost complete control by then. For how much Brendan achieved in his first couple of seasons, playing Ward was akin to criminal negligence.

I don’t understand the bit about not being able to afford Potter - the issue is PSR restricting spending but there wouldn’t be a fee and the club aren’t short of money?
-
So you’re telling me there’s a chance 😉

I don't agree with a 3-year deal but funny this seems to be getting more response from posters than the GOAT staying for another year. Outlines that people not just on here like a moan more!

For all the talk of Cooper and UK-based managers, interesting that it's been reported we've approached both Sarri and Ancelotti Jnr. Perhaps our search is far broader than the media here are making out?
-
This is so ridiculously unbelievable but given our history….
-
I get where you're coming from but a pragmatic choice is someone with a similar tactical approach to Maresca given we have a team that's been built to play progressive, possession-based football and limited funds to spend due to PSR, so can't afford a big changeover of players.
-
Maybe we're waiting to see who doesn't get the Brighton gig, and then approach their shortlist! Personally, haven't given up hope on Sarri but really like Rydstrom since you mentioned him @kingfox. Cooper is such an unimaginative appointments, hoping he's a smokescreen/back up option.
-
Hoping the Cooper speculation is the same as the Parker rumours last season: https://talksport.com/football/1909428/steve-cooper-leicester-next-manager-nottingham-forest/
-
Interesting you mention Kompany. The suggestion on the Euro Leagues podcast was Chelsea would have approached Kompany for the role as he impressed them when he interviewed for the role the previous season, but he’d already agreed a deal or was close to a deal with Bayern.
-
Looks like Sarri’s options in Italy are limited, I think the major/Europe comp qualified clubs all have managers now:
-
There may be no escape from Guillem Balague 😂
-
@kingfoxHadn't heard of Rydstrom but having read about him, makes a lot of sense as a potential option.
