  1. Massive win and still some people find something to moan about. 😂 Chill and enjoy today!
  2. This isn’t rocket science - Inter wanted a fee we couldn’t afford and it took deadline day for both parties to compromise. The criticism that we didn’t have an alternative target is a fair one, as is the fact that the FFP issues we have are from Rudkin’s stewardship. But the Sensi deal itself is more complex.
  3. Yeah, feel for him the most but sounds like the club will go for him again when his contract expires.
  4. Thanks. Takes two to tango, and Inter seemingly were reluctant to do a non-upfront fee deal.
  5. Not while they thought they could get a transfer fee. There is so much to hammer Rudkin on - there is no excuse for what happened the previous season - but not sure the mess here is at his door.
  6. Exactly, that's the criticism here.
  7. But Inter preferred a deal with a transfer fee that we couldn't afford, and it wasn't until deadline day there was no other option. The question is whether they should have switched to a different target where a deal was more likely.
  8. Yeah, I suspect there's a bit of that. But even in this narrative, the club don't come out this particularly well. And the FFP problems are a legacy of Rudkin's stewardship.
  9. Here is a summary of the Athletic article: Inter were reluctant to do a deal which meant they got no money when Sensi became a free agent, and looked into a contract extension with a sale to protect their interest (that was reported in the Italian media). We couldn't afford a payment due to FFP so couldn't just buy him. Contract extension seemed to be the solution arrived at but meant the deal was more complicated We pushed to sign him as Maresca was keen, but we were being particularly careful to avoid FFP issues The deal then got bogged down with the lawyers, Inter took longer than expected but we gave them extra time Problem then was when we then got the term sheet, Leicester's document in response was longer due to EFL requirements Their lawyers were surprised by the length of it and then had amendments but there wasn't enough time for Leicester's lawyers to review them Sounds like a mess but issues on both sides. Not a Rudkin fan by any means - he should have gone for what happened the previous season - but there was more to this. The big problem I think was our expectations were heightened by the likes of Romano when it's clear there wasn't a deal in place, and it took the deadline day for both parties to give ground and try to get this over the line. But then the legal issues scuppered it.
  10. Article by Tanner publishing why the Sensi deal didn't get agreed: https://theathletic.com/5247333/2024/02/02/leicester-inter-stefano-sensi/ Quick summary Inter were reluctant to do a deal which meant they got no money when Sensi became a free agent, and looked into a contract extension with a sale to protect their interest (that was reported in the Italian media). 11. But he was a free agent by then - worth reading the article if you can. And that was Inter's problem - how to guarantee a payment from us for a free agent.
  12. Inter needed to accept that and they weren't willing to unless there was no other option.
  13. That's harsh, looks like there were issues at Inter's end as well. Seems like we wanted to make this work from a FFP position by selling a player. When it was clear that wasn't happening, we tried to get a deal done on terms that would work. I'm against Rudkin as well - he should have gone after what happened last season - but unfair to pin this all on him, or the club generally.
  14. Tanner reporting that the deal on Wednesday morning was not happening as a sale had not happened and then the club pushed to get it done for Maresca. Bringing him over for a medical and to agree personal terms made sense if progress was being made, and perhaps the club thought a deal was more likely within FFP as it was deadline day so more urgency to get it sorted. What’s clear is the media ITKs were wrong that a deal was agreed - maybe something was in place if a player was sold but that didn’t happen, so the late negotiations to find a deal. The fact that our hopes were increased by the media reporting makes it worse for us fans but the reality was the deal wasn’t on as reported until yesterday.
  15. So sounds like we could have signed him had a player moved on. When it was clear the club couldn’t ship anyone, we brought him over just in case we could reach a deal with Inter that was within FFP and had everything in place, including the medical. But Rudkin couldn’t agree a deal with Inter that worked for FFP. To be fair, the manager had said we needed a sale to sign someone so the deal in reality was more unlikely than ITKs made out.
  16. Romano says Sensi deal is off, just said it on his stream.
  17. The Italian press are reporting it as a visa/work permit issue, make of that what you will.
  18. This is the story that the Sky Sports story is based on: https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/sensi-leicester-partenza-foto-video-calciomercato-news-1-febbraio-2024 Looks like as per earlier post the legal issue is the work permit. “The parties are now looking through lawyers to find the sting on the formula in order to be able to go to Leicester by getting the UK visa. There is time until midnight to complete the last bureaucratic steps.”
  19. Ah **** Brexit!
  20. @StanSPIs this you?

  23. I think you're right.
  24. This is wild if true, we just haven’t sent the pdf yet. đŸ€Ł
  25. Looks like a case of who blinks first. Will Inter want to keep paying his wages for 6 months knowing he's leaving on a free transfer and won't play much of a role? Or will we accept paying a higher upfront fee, given the FFP challenge?
