That said, I think there is too much naivety, we could benefit from a ruthless operator and 'we're gonna be OK' vibes rather than acting to make sure we are OK. Perhaps a percentage level would be fairer, as it's unfair Man U can have unsuccessful season after another but are solid due to commercial revenue, but having had to increase wages to reflect the success of the team, we have one horrible season and are in big trouble with FFP. It's like an 'Icarus' effect for the non-big 6 - get too successful and not maintain it for a season or two, and you'll get smashed. Again, it's why it's so critical the club do invest in Seagrave, building commercial revenue through stadium expansion etc. to help mitigate this.

Thinking about it and Rob Tanner’s comments on the BSLB podcast, I suspect the club’s defence will be a form of the double jeopardy principle. The club paid the ultimate price with relegation so they shouldn’t be punished again, and if they are it should apply in that PL season.

Exactly, this is so being stirred up by rival clubs to try to unnerve and distract us. Not to say there isn't a substance here, looks like we've got a major challenge but the reaction on here is what they want elsewhere within the club.

Agree on your final point completely, yet some people keep moaning about Seagrave! It's essential to the strategy of attracting younger talent and developing them. That and growing commercial revenue is the only proper and positive way to avoid the scenario of PSR hitting us again.

Yeah, agree as long as the manager protects them and can be a strength if he creates a siege mentality. Man City have been dealing with this for years, and remember they got kicked out of European competition but didn’t especially affect their form.

I don't think it's us, it's rival clubs - that's the suggestion in the Times article: "Relegated clubs must still submit accounts to the Premier League for the past three seasons and some of Leicester’s rivals believe they may be in breach of the maximum £105 million spending losses."

I think these comments are largely right. The manager is reluctant to make changes, and perhaps as we've largely been dominating our games, he may feel why change for no reason beyond fitness? But Ipswich coming strong late in games is yes, somewhat due to fortune but also how brave they are and how energetic they are towards the end of matches, which is helped by them having at least one or two game changers on the bench. For example, they had Sarmiento and Hutchinson come on against us, who are quality players. They've been forced into rotating their players more as they try to turn around games, while we've been on top for longer so have more to defend. The more I think about it, the more I think our recent problems have come from fitness issues - it's a long season and the international break is coming at a good time for us to refresh and recharge.

Ha, suspect this is being leaked out by certain PL clubs to put us off suing for FFP. Not that I fully trust the club to have got this right but the ifs, buts and maybes make this something put out there by rival clubs to try to put us back in our box.

Put this in the match thread but he got it wrong not playing Coady unless there was an issue with his fitness. Faes and Nelson were at fault for the first goal, no one took control as the communication between them was lacking. You know what you get with Coady - he'll have been rallying the players. So frustrating.

I've been full of praise for Enzo but think he made a big mistake not picking Coady, unless there was a fitness issue with him having played 120 mins. The first goal is poor defending from Faes and Nelson. Faes really needs someone experienced with him, the lack of communication between him and Nelson was a big problem. We're conceding too many soft goals - we need more leadership defensively in particular. Why do we make it so hard for ourselves?!

Often seen criticism about his subs but he got them spot on yesterday. Each one of them had a positive impact - yep, Fatawu got the goal but Ricardo shored things up, Ihenacho held up the ball well in general and brought the midfielders up the pitch, Nelson looked assured and energetic when he came on and moved Ricardo to midfield when Praet was on his feet etc.

Very skilful but just needs that composure.
