Looked to me like he was taking evasive action to avoid contact. Of course he may have exaggerated it a bit to win the penalty but that is not the same as diving. A leg was dangled out and he won a penalty. If this was Spain the locals would be celebrating his skill. Good to see Maddison getting back to his best form. We have missed it. Alongside tielemans barnes Daka etc we have quite a potent and entertaining attack.

I’d l like to see Daka start but I think Vardy will get some time even if as a late sub. He still has that fear factor effect on teams.

The main thing that needs fixing is the goals conceded. More aggression from all the players and five per cent more effort when not in possession would go a long way. Confidence is low and when that happens players don’t go looking for the ball or tackles and are not brave on the ball. It will come back again though. Brendan needs to buck his ideas up too no doubt but Justin and fofana coming back will certainly be a lift. This europa exit is a major disappointment but I’ll wager we will come back stronger in the second half of the season.

At many times during last season people were saying that some of our players would get into the starting eleven of top teams. The current malaise is an unfortunate combination of form injuries and tactics working against us.

Not that I want him gone but I could see nacho doing very well for Brighton. Perhaps Brendan could persuade them to entertain a swap deal for Bissouma. He is the sort of player we hoped we would get with Soumare and would be an asset if and when youri moves on. Not that I want either nacho or youri to leave but time moves on.

It is so difficult to compare across generations too. In the 70s team weller worthington and whitworth were my favourites. I think Lineker and Heskey would still figure quite highly in any ‘greats’comparison. If you put all these great players together you might still miss the most important ingredients that took us to the title. Teamwork form and fitness. Hopefully we can start to see a bit more of this from now until the end of the season.
