State of the squad and rest of the season, an opinion.
J. James replied to Chrysalis's topic in Leicester City Forum
I said when Cooper was appointed that he would "need to be a tactical genius to keep us up and he aint that". I get why people wanted him out, l didn't like watching us either, but l honestly think he got close to the best out of the dross we have, and sadly l don't believe any manager that would come here will do any better, and RvN is very far from the best atm. Clearly lots of the most vocal Cooper outs also believe this squad is not good enough to survive, hence they are saying now that we need serious talent in January, why should this be the case if it was all down to Cooper l ask myself. The fact is our owner and dof gave him all the ingredients to make dumplings and sacked him when he didn't produce a wedding cake! But apart from ability there is also their attitude, which, reading between the lines frankly stinks, if they took their "Copenhagen night club" attitude onto the pitch then its little wonder that Cooper left certain players out and is it possible he was being undermined by players who didnt want to play his way? Probably not, they are quite simply rubbish. I was also of the opinion that hiring Cooper was wrong and that he was set up to take the fall for the owner and directors total mismanagement - well he has and now he's gone. But sadly the real reasons for our rapid and accelerating decline have not. -
-
Hahaha.. Do you actually know the difference between facts and opinions? Because none of this is fact, its ALL opinion! 🤣🤣
-
Nonsense from beginning to end. I didnt want Cooper but he was fulfilling his single objective to keep us out of the relegation zone. His remit was NOT play attractive football It was NOT pick the players the fans want. It was NOT keep the players happy. It was to do what he was doing but our owner wanted a celebrity manager and he got him. You like a great many on here ( but a tiny minority of supporters) hated him from the get go and positively wanted him to fail. But the FACT is he didn't, and if we go down under RvN or his successor it will again be down to the owners, Top in particular and NOT Cooper. And the fact is Forest finished 16th, not 17th so even if we didn't tuck up under the fraud he would still have kept them up. But then that doesn't fit your bias does it.
-
Its true, he did.. In the championship which is an achievement because at least half of them dont look good enough for that!
-
Yep, could, should and l believe.. Inconveniently the facts are he got enough results with extremely limited players to keep us out of the relegation zone. I hope you're as ready with could, should and l believe if and when RvN takes us into it. But long before that l expect our classless clueless players to yet again think they know better.
-
Also spot on, and as and when RvN also fails to construct a silk purse from our pigs ears, l guarantee he will not be singled out and victimised by the armchair experts on here, it will be down to the players this time - it's already begun in fact with Thomas (who was far from our worst player). Why wont the brainless mob turn on RvN? Number one he's attractive and cool. Two, he has no Forest connection. Three, its so much easier to pick on a player or two this time. All of this while conveniently forgetting that Cooper actually got more out of this talentless bunch than his replacement. Plymouth, Coventry and Leicester owners all foolishly employing former stars, two of whom have demonstrated their total lack of talent for management. My guess is RvN will soon wish he hadn't agreed to try to save this disastrous club.

Brentford (A) Saturday 3pm - Match Thread
J. James replied to tcrofts's topic in Leicester City Forum
Unreal expectations? The reason is clear, once you fixate on one man being the whole problem - Cooper- then if you remove the problem, obviously things can only get better. Except maybe he saw that the only way to get anything was the dreadful style he had them play. Our squad is appallingly bad, most would never get a kick at at least 16 other prem clubs the exception being buononotte who isn't even our player! If RvN doesn't have at least two rabbits and hats with this bunch of fools we are down. -

Brentford (A) Saturday 3pm PreMatch Chitchat

New manager bounce is a myth the statisticians say, apparently we only notice the confirmation results not the contrary ones. But a change in style MUST have some effect! Lets say for arguments sake we play better post Cooper (yeah l know) and that the improvement under Dawson/ the players is as high as 30%, we would probably have lost 3-0 under SC and in the most miserable way. Sadly we are still likely to lose this one, maybe in a more entertaining way but unlike many other clubs we simply do not have enough players to radically change things, fact is lots of ours are poor to average. RvN will hopefully build a style based on what this group of players can do, not what he would in an ideal world like to do (as the fraud disastrously did), its likely we will see only slight improvement in results unless and until we get new faces in January. But even if we simply hold our position until then a more attack orientated style using our best asset more has to be better... Doesn't it? -
The depressing thing about this table is that nobody would be surprised if it were the actual prem table at seasons end. IOW success is 99% about how much money you can throw at it and little else, on this basis there really is no fair competition and really no point. 😕
-
If by "sense of entitlement" people mean unrealistic expectations then yes, some may have that, but then it was massively unrealistic to expect us to win the prem! There's an extremely fine line between unrealistic and ambitious, the rapid turning on the manager point is more a case of peoples increasing impatience generally. I think this is a symptom of the pace of life and the ability to get everything almost instantly, nobody is willing to do things slower or accept that it may take years. Add to this the imperative of not being relegated and fans demanding to be entertained and you have what looks like a sense if entitlement. Frankly atm expectations of what RvN can do in a few days or weeks are mega unrealistic and sadly lots are going to be very disappointed.

Ruud awakening for the Premier League!
J. James replied to DJ Barry Hammond's topic in Leicester City Forum
Whilst I'm pretty neutral about RvN, I'm not going to enjoy our up coming media name change, no longer Leicester sadly but "Van Nistelrooy's Leicester". Lets hope we fare better than the also renamed WRP. -

Ruud awakening for the Premier League!
J. James replied to DJ Barry Hammond's topic in Leicester City Forum
He'll enliven the squad He'll excite the fans He'll get us in the top six He'll turn Daka into a goalscoring monster *One of these is very, very, very unlikely ** clue- it's not the third one. -
Well, l really think we are in for a roller coaster ride now, could go either way l guess, but l dont think it will be dull somehow. Maybe some excitement before we go down at the least!
-
You got! I wouldn't watch Plymouth for beer and chocolate mate!
-
Hmm, got my poetic juices flowing did this line. There's no one worse than Cooper No matter what they say He made us wish that we were dead When we watched our team play His tactics were a shambles His team selections poor But Christmas came on early When the boss showed him the door Theres no one worse than Cooper Not even Bren the fraud But even good old stevie Didn't stoop to Danny Ward! Obvs to the tune of "no one quite like grandma"
-
If Top/the board didn't have indications of interest from their list of preferred candidates before sacking Cooper (which, if there is no announcement today would appear to suggest this), then it will be another masterstroke from our clubs leaders and make the (delayed) timing of his sacking even more farcical!

Probably means we will think we're getting a good deal on a quality product but are actually paying over the odds for something that we dont need ATPIT.... Oops.
