Yeah - but do they speak about Football?
-
I fear we might be about to find out why PSR is so important......
-
I think this is something we beat ourselves up on - but its a problem in a lot of places and Everton won't be the last club to face it. We (and i think Everton do as well) make it worse because we have overpaid salaries and clubs arent going to match those salaries when they can see players aren't worth it. Players happy to clock watch and recoup future salary deductions with singing on fees. The player has little to lose.
-
Actually - i've always found this a difficult one to get my head around. He did get Forest promoted, but he was the luckiest bugger in the world with how it happened - it wasnt a 'proven' nailed it promotion. And he was a lucky getting them to stay up the following season (they played and beat Arsenal the game after they fell out of title contention ffs). And he was lucky for us as well. Our luck all dried up the day he went. I hated watching us play under him, but do still wonder if he would have lucked us through the season somehow. Doubt it. Hes so lucky i wouldn't be surprised to find out he's banging Maya Jama.

You can be pretty sure we will do whatever we can not to pay that 2.5m
-
You know they will have Rohl and Dyche ready. Dyche favoured by Rudkin, Rohl favoured by Top. Rohl tricky because of the severance payment. Wednesday difficult to deal with, we probably try and push breach of contract which makes things worse, and of course, Rudkin not putting 100% in because he knows Top will wobble at some point. Time ticks, and we are slow anyway. Top loses the plot sometime early mid July and pulls the plug on Rohl, and we go for Dyche. Rohl then agrees to leave Wednesday and gets an amazing job in Germany.
-
Dyche?
-
I'm with you a bit there. With Maresca, his apprenticeship in a very successful Man City was the huge plus point that gave me some assurance that he could manage the expectations of managing us. I dont see that with Rohl. There is quite a lot of noise about him, and we would be a step up.
-
Is their anything about his style of play or approach you don't like. For example, despite getting promoted, it was well known what Russell Martin's style was and how he expected a team to play. Do you have these concerns about Rohl, or is it that he just hasnt been a major success somewhere. One of the things you can look at is if a manager is under or over achieving with what he has at his disposal. We saw how he saved them last season (and i thought they were great when we played them when he was in charge). Transfermarkt state that Wednesday have the 4th cheapest squad in the leauge - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/marktwerteverein/wettbewerb/GB2. To be comfortably mid table, 10 point behinds the playoffs and mixing with Norwich, Watford and Middlesbrough, all of which have significantly more squad depth, shows how he has overachieved. I don't buy into the 'simply kept them up' point. The big questions mark is how he deals with going up a level, which despite all our negativity the LCFC job will be. A Patson Daka costs more than their entire squad, and he has an elite academy at his disposal. Its a different prospect, so you would expect he would need to approach it differently?

A manager thats on the up.

What we want and what we can get are often 2 different things. They’ve wanted Potter for ages and by all accounts that was pretty close last summer. Cooper was backup and likely the reason he was sacked early is he was never wanted in the first place. I reckon Dyche, if being actually considered at all and of which there is nothing concrete, could be the same as Cooper.

I don't disagree with you about Tanner's background, and maybe my post was overstated a bit. He obviously has connections we don't (although there are some on who who do have some connections). My point was that the information he is discussing on the likes of the Final Whistle Pod doesn't really have any more meat to it right now than rumours that have ended up on here. I bet he is as frustrated as anyone at the club with the lack of information he has access to.
-
I might be wrong, but my impression is that Rob Tanner doesn't have any direct communication with anyone senior at the club. He will just be fed official information information via the normal press channels but i don't think he gets any special treatment. He said in one of the videos he has a lot of friends / contacts at the club, so will get fed information that way. But i think these days the execs are very secretive that most around the club have little idea what is going on. I think anything Tanner is talking about right now has no more credibility than anything posted on this forum.
-
Fixed that for you.
-
He's not though, and i fear he is very much on their radar. Carrick isn't some left field european manager who is on an upward trajectory. He's been an abject failure at Middlesborough, but he's cut straight from the cloth that puts him on LCFC's radar.
-
Did he buy Skipp as well?
-
Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")
Chelmofox replied to Tuna's topic in Transfer Talk
Do we think he had personal issues this season? I think he seemed to struggle for fitness certainly in the 2/3 of the season. Felt like he wasn't picked but when he played against Liverpool i thought he was great, but then sadly injured. I think from a fans perspective hes probably benefited from being injured at the end of the season, especially after a good game against Liverpool. He would come under quite a lot of scrutiny for output / stepovers and often was weak tracking back. He looked gassed quite a lot. I like him and he gave us some top moments in the Championship but struggled in the PL, but i think he has the potential to be a half decent mid/lower (non relegation) player. He probably just needed to get a season under his belt in a team that wasnt falling apart at the seams. -
My overriding memory will be of someone picking up one of the coconut waters and saying 'what the f4ck is that?' The day he leaves i might buy a Chang in his honour. I've never bought one before but still drunk too many of them.

I think another Tom Cannon is exactly what this forum needs. Tom Cannon gave so many people hope - almost dreams of a great future. He can be someone to bench. Someone for everyone to say would be amazing if only we would 1) play the system that suited him and 2) actually gave him a chance. Then we can sell him for 500k profit in 2 years whilst lots of posters say 'how come we are getting rid of that player that we never play but with great potential to Stoke?'. Then he will score 1 penalty and get benched for a year with Stoke. Its the hope that kills you.
-
I presume its based on the leaked article where his sessions were criticised by the players and he came out and apologised to them after. No idea who leaked it (presume it couldn't have been Jannik as he was also slated in the article). Maybe Winks. I think a lot of this is made up, and not sure what evidence there is that Ruud sidelined him.
-
Wasn't this said 2 weeks ago (not by you)? I love the 'likely' bit, just to cast a little doubt.
-
Sadly, Souttar needs to grow a new leg. When he does, hopefully he still fancies playing for us.
-
I thought he was ok towards the end of the season, when it was clear that he had been given a run of games and you could see a bit of that leadership coming through. Would have him alongside Okoli and Nelson and dump Vesty and Faes.
-
This doesn't make sense to me. Ruud hasn't managed us in the lower leagues , and has a relatively promising record in a short period in holland. He took over us when we were in the shite in a situation that was always going to have poor points and poor goal difference. He did this with no transfer funds (apparent from a bargain basement defender) and without being able to employ his own staff. McKenna spent big, and had his well oiled staff with him, and was terrible this calendar year. Proper terrible. Yet, somehow, he is just fine. For the record, i'd rather we get Rohl (although Rosenior was the one i really wanted). But i can see us getting Rohl anymore, and i think we are in danger of going down a really crap path if we aren't careful. Part of me thinks would rather stick with what we have and give him the right tools.
-
Do you think Ipswich should stick with McKenna?
