  1. Had a dream last night that we won this 6-0. Woyo Coulibaly scored two and Callum Elder scored a hat trick. Lump on, lads.
  2. Faes will try to force a move in January I think, even if only on loan. He's out of the team again and will want to get back in the Belgium squad before the World Cup. Souttar should be back by then so that's a straightforward like for like replacement.
  3. Players who never played for Leicester that you can't believe never played for Leicester. Prompted by my thinking over the weekend that Jordan James is such a Leicester player that if he somehow had never played for us it would have been a surprise. A classic of this genre for me is Craig Mackail-Smith. Was banging in the goals at Peterborough while we were in the doldrums, think we were linked with him a couple of times but the timing never seemed right and by the time he moved on we were in the Sven moneybags era.
  4. Palmer's last game for England was in 1993. By the time Izzet was playing in the Premier League you had Ince, Beckham, Scholes, McManaman and then not long after that Gerrard and Lampard came along. As good as Izzet was (my favourite ever Leicester player and my childhood hero), I think he himself would admit he wasn't quite as good as any of those.
  5. ChatGPT is weirdly terrible at providing accurate football statistics. The other day I was interested in finding out when the last time we lost to Derby in the league was and it claimed it was 2004. Knew this was nonsense because I remember us losing there under Pearson - I checked and sure enough it was 2013. You’d think an LLM would be able to fairly easily scrape data off Wikipedia or whatever to get the right answer but I find with this sort of query it is very frequently wrong. And Daka didn’t even score in that Southampton game 😂
  6. On the basis that: A. The manager is the least of our problems and I’m not yet at the ‘absolutely has to go’ stage B. A points deduction puts us into the relegation mix I am happy with that win. I hope (although don’t expect) that this can be a turning point.
  7. As bad as we are, I've never at any point this season thought "You know what would improve this team? Kasey McAteer".
  8. Only positive was that we looked a little more solid defensively and the back 3 were all decent. Major worry is we barely create anything and haven’t done all season. Most games this season we’ve had a couple of shots on target at most.
  9. Said to my Derby supporting mate at the start of the season that they’d finish above us and he thought I was insane. Eustace is a very decent manager.
  10. The All Blacks used to have a 'no dickheads' policy for squad selection. We've got an 'only dickheads' policy.
  11. Haven’t watched it but reading about that case it seems it was pure chance that his Mum disrupted his preparations. He clearly intended to commit a mass atrocity.
  12. Understandably we struggle to comprehend the motivations of people committing horrific acts if we can't categorise them as either insane or politically motivated, but the reality is violent acts can happen for reasons that aren't easily understood. These acts even have their own acronym - MUU (mixed, unclear or unstable). They constitute the majority of recent referrals to Prevent. Both Rudakubana and Nicholas Prosper (teenager who shot his mum and siblings last year and was then stopped before he could get to his old primary school) fit into this category - they became obsessed with violence and ultimately acted on this obsession, but were otherwise found sound of mind (hence why they were both tried and are now in prison). Where as the Nottingham murderer had a long history of mental health problems.
  13. Not a series and not similar to Luther really, but if you like true crime In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is probably the best in that genre I've ever read. A real page turner.
  14. Astonishingly bad today. Takes some doing to be worse than Thomas but he managed it.
  15. Three and a half years ago Boris Johnson was still Prime Minister. There's a long way to go.
  16. We stormed the league in 2008/09 and only lost 4 games all season, so no we weren't booing then. The previous season when we got relegated - loads of booing. It's a long time ago now but I recall the atmosphere when we lost at home to Sheffield Wednesday when Hume missed the penalty was pretty toxic. The ground was full as well.
  17. I said after the Preston game that I'd be happy to see this season as an opportunity to build for the future. Clear out as much deadwood as possible, build the team around a core of academy products and develop a style that can win us promotion next season. We'll be recieving a points deduction so promotion looks unlikely anyway - why not use this season to build something? At the moment we're getting the worst of both worlds. Marti is still playing players who have repeatedly failed AND automatic promotion looks implausible. If we were to have a squad something like the following, while finishing 14th, I would be fairly content. I just want to see some kind of plan for the future. Jakub Ricardo Nelson Okoli Aluko Winks James Monga Ramsey Fatawu Carranza Begovic, L Thomas, Choudhury, Thomas, Evans, Hutchinson, Mavididi, S Thomas, Page
  18. Our top 3 scorers last time we went up were Vardy (18 Championship goals), KDH (12) and Mavididi (12). Vardy and KDH have gone and Mavididi has been injured and/or out of form. We’ll be lucky if we get 18 goals combined from our strikers. We might get 10 from James, maybe 12 from Fatawu. But ultimately without a proper striker who will score 15-20 goals we will not win enough games to get the 88+ points that would likely get us top 2. The play offs beckon, at best.

    The gym

100% agree with this. I only started lifting weights in my early 30s and used 5x5 as my first programme. It’s incredible how quickly you start to feel strong. The only issue is I was ravenously hungry all the time once I started lifting fairly heavy. Now I’m in my 40s I find I have to watch what l eat much more so have to switch up the routine a bit more regularly.
  20. I’ve had a few fans of other clubs comment that they’ve enjoyed hearing it pre match. I like that it’s unique to us. Along with the Post Horn Gallop it’s a nice nod to our long history. Not a fan of the Jersey Budd version myself but as we seem physically incapable of adopting the right pace for the Louis Armstrong version it will have to do.
  21. Almost everything the club does on fan engagement at the moment screams "we think you're all thick".
  22. Liverpool is fantastic. Just go there for work quite a bit so it's not much of a holiday destination for me.
  23. They're both great. Free Trade Inn is one of my favourites in the UK. Some good spots in Ouseburn as well: Cumberland Arms, Ship Inn, Tanners Arms. But yeah it's not up there with somewhere like Liverpool or York for city centre pubs.
  24. Newcastle Amazing architecture, great pubs, good restaurants, some decent galleries and museums, nice people. Short journey on the Metro out to Tynemouth which has a lovely beach. Half an hour's drive away you've got some of the best beaches in the country on the Norhumberland coast. Very underrated part of the world. Just avoid the Bigg Market on a weekend.
