Yeah that was the suggestion in the post I quoted so I felt more positive thinking the opposite!

Not sure why I’m responding to such a pedantic post but I’ll bite… Get* Dyche in….to replace toxic Rodgers* Better?
-
Such a snob culture towards Dyche. He is just what we need if we want to stay up. Is Poch a better manager? Of course he is. Not that he’s realistic in the slightest but nor is he likely to have the stomach for our predicament. His Spurs squads were notoriously weak minded hence the term ‘Spursy’. We need to realise that every game that passes we are more and more unattractive to managers that may come in as they are being increasingly being set up to fail with the hole being dug deeper so as of now, I genuinely think we’d do well to get Dyche. He’d get the defence organised, get them working hard for each other, instil some desire. We have enough attacking talent that they can score a couple of goals most games with Brendan Rodgers in charge so they can at least match that under Dyche. Dyche in for me.

I don’t agree with personal insults to Top but those that say he cannot be criticised or do no wrong are as much of the problem. We can be more grateful that words could ever say for what the family (not just Top) have done and what we have achieved whilst questioning the present and the future direction of the club. Those living in the past are as bad as Forest fans! To me, it looks more and more like the reputation build as the best run club was Vichai and Vichai alone holding that together. It looks more like Top has been dining off Vichai’s reputation as it has slowly and gradually got worse on and off the pitch. Does he have to sell? Not necessarily. But if he wants to keep the club and doesn’t seem to be able to make the right decisions himself (on a day to day basis), he needs better and more capable people to run the club for him and trust their decisions (if the rumours he is the sole person refusing to sack Rodgers are correct). Either way he is undoing the legacy which is sad to see.
-
I’d suspect not…
-
Trying not to vomit at that thought but did raise the question in my head, Rodgers to replace Southgate?
-
Can I draw your attention to the last two games? 2-2 at half time, 3-0 and 4-0 respectively in the second halves with the capitulations starting within minutes of the time he spent at half time with them!
-
Not going to ‘shoot you’ But, first point about signings. Doesn’t wash for me. He has proven that his signings have had no impact so there’s no evidence signings would have strengthened us and that he’d have even played them. Loyalty is good but not at the expense of the clubs well-being. To compare him to Ferguson is massively offensive to Ferguson. Ferguson know how to refresh things and overcome tough spells which Rodgers hasn’t. Agree he’ll be gone by then but disagree he is trying to make it work. He has given up and is begging for the sack.

Fair enough. I can agree to Poison Goblin or Odious Dwarf instead?
-
As per other posts above, how completely disrespectful to Ranieri. As others, I thought it was time to go and was a good decision to halt the rot but he had far more credit than the poison dwarf. He was a proper gentleman and shown nothing but love for the club. This is disgusting. Thats my respect for Top gone if that’s true. Top is skating by on Vichai legacy as much as the dwarf has used Puels! Both have also destroyed those legacy’s.

I put something on the Forest match thread about a post I had seen on the Forest forum about how tall our side is compared to theirs and we will beat them in the air from set pieces I’m intrigued to see how small they can be for that to be the case!
-
Just can’t see us getting anything. We have lose the ability to get results it’s as simple as that. They’ve had two shocking results at home to Bournemouth and Fulham but have a better manager in Cooper who will use the international break to build up the team and get them on track. Meanwhile Brendan will be skulking around Seagrave telling everyone who will listen it is all Cag’s fault! Just can’t see us having the desire to battle for it. However there was a post that made me laugh on the match thread on the Forest forum, basically about how many players over 6ft we have and how they will struggle to match us in the air and with Maddison’s delivery we’ll be too much for them at set pieces . Not laughing at Maddison or anything but funny how we say how short a team we have and like against Roma, we hadn’t enough height to deal with them. Who are Forest fielding? Snow White in goal, the 7 in defence and midfield and some kids from the local school?

You’re right, I’m not sure where the strong man manager or youth promoted reputations come from as he has proved the opposite with us. He moans about needing a cheque books but blows money left right and centre. There’s a strong squad there that have been coached awfully and into a really negative mindset/mentality. I do think a new face and new voice, bringing back the likes of Soy will see us ok if done in time which looks less likely…
-
I think my frustration is that until recently, you suggest you want Rodgers gone and get accused of entitlement. As I say, I’m recent in joining on here but in a wider sense, I have noticed this. Thing is, it’s not entitlement as the man has won something with us. It’s everything but that; -Style of play - predicable and boring -His negativity -Weak mentality of the club and squad -Move away from the type of signings we used to make -The recurring injuries The latter two are direct changes of our clubs two strongest abilities a few years back and for those willing to open their eyes, our current predicament was obviously on the way albeit not necessarily as quickly or to the extreme it has been.
-
I also remember not wanting Pearson to go, I’m not sure I could claim to think we would stay up but as we were newly promoted, there would have been more of an expectation to go down and I actually think a side that goes down after one season up is better placed to bounce back than a side like us currently who will be ripped apart and have to rebuild from carrying high wages and with financial difficulties. Ranieri I didn’t want to go but agreed it was time sadly. Puel I did not want to go as I liked what he was doing building the squad. It probably was time in highsight after the Palace game. I felt a lot of people who got toxic toward Puel were shortsighted and entitled. Rodgers is the first manager I can remember wanting gone for so long. I value the ‘builder type’ managers like Pearson and Puel so much, I have no time for someone who comes in and rips all that apart!

I have just not seen anything for a long time to suggest the team knows or has the confidence to get any sort of result let alone a win. I’m looking at those games not expecting a win as things are getting worse by the week. If there was any positive signs to grasp on to, believe me I would. I have never seen a Leicester side in my time (admittedly only since about 2002) that look defeated in every game before they even kick off. We have been 2-0 up to a poor Brentford side, blew it. 1-0 at a good stage in the game to a poor Southampton (both at home), managed to not just draw but lose. Arsenal twice we got a goal back and promptly folded again. Chelsea down to 10 men and we give up 2 goals. Ironically the only game we kept the conceded goals down to 1 (Man Utd), we failed to score. Brighton and Spurs the less said the better but early goal in both and in the blink of an eye 2-1 down. Managed then to get level to reset in the break at both and completely feel apart in both second half’s. It’s a shocking record not matter how you spin who the games were against. Forest will beat us as they will want to win the game, we won’t. It’s that simple.

Risk vs rewards isn’t it simply put. A manager change may not see an upturn but the majority of posters on here (not sure how representative of the overall fan base) can see that there is more chance of the so called favourable fixtures being frittered away. If we stick with him and waste these games, well we are gone basically. As per the post from Col in response below, with the break now it is pivotal. It’s not even like we are in games and losing tight games to strong sides, we are being battered week in week out, the squad is mentally shot, there is no fight. It’s getting worse by the week. Basically there is zero evidence of any turn around coming and to look at the fixtures is sort of clutches at straws (and I intend that to come as a dig at you, it’s all about view points and opinions). I like the idea it could be the case but we aren’t really in a position now, even early on, to roll the dice and see and change after this run of games and still be fine….
-
I do agree, not that I think that is the sole reason for the mess but maybe we’d not be in such a bad place…
-
Agreed, a relegation battle is, I think, more about the mental strength, togetherness and desire, all the mental attributes more so than quality. This squad under the current manager does not have the stomach for it. They have proved it time and time again with the exception of the cup. The manager is spineless and the team has followed. Id go as far to say I would say, if you told me Rodgers was definitely lasting the season, come what May, I would put relegation as about 95% certain given the trajectory and the lacking mental attributes. This is the infuriating thing, every game we delay is only shifting the adds further towards relegation now away.
-
NO, we don’t. Not personal but I find this view very arrogant and in denial. It is not about individual names on the team sheet or past achievements. The facts are that we are THE worst team in the league with no sign of that changing. Every game that passes and ever defeat is directly sliding the odds more towards relegation than staying up. If the next 6 games were Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham along with maybe Newcastle and Brighton, I.e clubs that we aren’t expecting to be around come the end of the season I’d be inclined to agree with it being less of a rush. If we pass up these games against relegation rivals by not making the change it could be, realistically if not mathematically, curtains for the season.
-
Agreed, we need a manager who is pro youth rather than a cheque book manager, especially when said manager can’t even use the cheque book properly. Obviously need better staff at that level which is on the club.
-
Agreed, it’s not doomsdaying saying we will double dip to League One or that we’ll be stuck in the Championship for years but just thinking the challenge if we come back up with a completely new squad, one built for the championship. Of course that could be a blessing as this squad seems to need an overall and of course we did it before. We were fortunate to have Nige and his team build the squad they did that came up and grew into the league. We would need to recruit brilliantly again and it’s easy to go the way of a Stoke, Swansea or West Brom. As you say, financial constraints won’t make it easy and we will need new leaders at the top to maximise what we have. Also to use the academy. If we look in trouble still come January, I’d get some youngsters loaned out even if it’s League One to Two to get them some experience as we would need to tap into them in the event we go down. Hopefully things will turn around the it is a grim prospect.
-
I would say that the sense of gratitude is why the fan base has been so patient and is only now after the past couple of games, starting to question the board/Top. You are correct we do not know what is going on behind the scenes but what is clear is that it has to be either down to belief that everything is fine and he’ll turn it around or not financially able to act. Either of those points towards bad management of the club. The only third option really is that they know he needs to go and do have the finance and it is a matter of principle/playing chicken if you like wanting him to walk/agree to a lower pay out. That was fine for the few few weeks but after these last couple of games, if that’s what it has been, it should be panic stations now and swallowing their pride/principles and doing what is right for the club.
-
If we go down, I’m not sure we may ever recover to the level we have been at or at least not for decades. It may sound dramatic but 1 - we will actually be much less well equipped to successfully bounce straight back than yo yo sides like Norwich or even Forest who have squads built for the championship. We would only retain a small number of players that we want or are good enough with some still cluttering the wage will so will take some very smart recruitment to not continue to struggle (by struggle I do not mean double drop but not necessarily bounce straight back). 2 - The gap is very big between the Championship and Premier League so by dropping, even if we come back we will have lost all those years of building the club/squad. To come back up and expect to go back to top half finishes whilst other clubs have continued to have premier league money is a challenge. We may end up as a yo yo club again which is probably more enjoyable than being like a Crystal Palace/Southampton type. Not trying to be negative, just thinking realistically what position we would be in.

And what’s smart ass about that? If it’s tomorrow then of course it makes not jot of difference compared to yesterday or today. If it is end of October after another 4/5 defeats on the spin or November when the pause for the World Cup comes about we are f***ed. Perhaps pedantic to refer to what year but can you honestly say hand on heart you trust the board not to let this rumble on into the new year? A couple of weeks ago I thought it’s fine, if results don’t pick up he’ll be removed. 11 goals conceded in 2 games with no sign of his removal has me much less confident!
