Agreed. He’s the greatest we have had, his story is amazing. But he’s clearly not a leader. As you say, the jester maybe. And I don’t even mean this is a negative way but he isn’t very professional in terms of things like his pre-match routines. Yes we all love to hear about it and laugh about how it has got him where he is but he is unique. I don’t think he should be leading the team. If we end up with an interim, it’ll be Barry-Murphy and King.

Putting Your £ Where Your Mouth Is
LCFCJohn replied to The Year Of The Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
A lovely part of the world and worth being well away from Leicester for! Only in South Yorkshire myself but even so, to go to Leicester is a big part of the day (if you’re going for football). I stopped many years ago as I prioritise other areas of life. My next door neighbour is a Rotherham STH and you’ll see him heading out at 2.30 and back at about 5.15. If it’s been a trip just for the game and not social either side. That would be a lot better for me as I do value doing family stuff at weekends. So yeah, zero desire to go back to attending ever really. -
Stolarcryk/new/academy as third choice Coulibaly/Justin Nelson/Vestergard Souttar/Okoli New/Thomas Try and get rid of Coady/Faes/VK. Unsure what we do with Ricardo. Skipp/Winks New/New Choudhury Probably sell Ndidi and Soumare Fatawu/Alves Bilal (realise this is a long shot) /new Mavididi/Monga Probably stuck with Reid and Ayew New/new - need to start afresh striker wise There’s a good basis there. I think if Nelson and Souttar come back from injury well, that makes use so much stronger in defence already. If we can have a manager who can work on being stronger in the full back areas I think we will be ok defensively. Big areas to address might be central midfield and obviously strikers.

Seems like it from some of the stuff coming out. Top has literally taken apart everything his dad built. Destroyed his legacy.
-
This is a good point. Also it was said this was Top’s appointment whereas Cooper wasn’t. The evidence would show that when it comes to digging in and doubling down on his decisions, he won’t make the decision quickly.
-
That list is probably a bit outdated now in that we will be looking at Championshio candidates. Personally I like Rohl but unlikely as is mentioned, we would pay compensation. He may also not want to come near us. I also like Wellens and the job he is doing and think he could step up to the Championship. But again, compensation. Its going to be Russell Martin.
-
Well said. I started going right after Peter Taylor, the promotion season under Adams. A relegation then 10 years or so out the top flight including the League 1 season and enjoyed it all. League 1 is still actually my favourite season to date. By the time we won the PL, I was into my 20’s, actually had just bought my house that Spring. So this implication that to be unhappy now means you are a spoiled child essentially, who had only known the good times. No no no. My childhood and teen years were firmly spent in the wilderness. I actually feel well qualified to have an opinion having ‘come through’ if you like when I did.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
LCFCJohn replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
He can’t be in charge next season and I’ve maintained that for many weeks now. It’s just about timing. There’s no point sacking him now to bring another panic, rushed, yes man decision based on being in the Premier League. The new manager needs to be with the Championship in mind. They also need to be someone who can work under difficult conditions, are a builder type manager and they need to be not judged on this season. So it’s just when as it’s more important to get the right person. I’d rather just leave RVN for example until April if that means getting the right guy. Let’s say that is Rohl, again for example. Yes they took a beating last night but they are only a few points away from the play offs so he is unlikely to move now. If they miss the playoffs, perhaps he would. Or it might be that with a few games to go they are out of contention. So yeah, would rather wait that just go through another manager for the sake of it. Unless Barry-Murphy/King etc just take charge for the time being. -
Careful what you wish for. The clubs in a health state Etc Etc Just a couple of the insights on this forum recently….

Would have Stolarcryk back in tbh.

If the contract on there was 2 years out, I can imagine the wages were. We definitely wouldn’t have been signing anyone on 90k p/w in the Championship when he signed. Question is what was he signed on and what rises were in place on Promotion? I still think 90k seems quite extreme but who knows….
-
2026 not 2028. According to transfer market at least. Which sounds right as it was 3 years I thought when he signed in 2023.

League One & Two - 2024/25 season
LCFCJohn replied to moore_94's topic in General Football and Sport
What do you think of Wellens? Does he have the ability to step up do you think? From the bits I have seen, style wise he seems to try and play quite an attractive way. -
Probably. We just need to wait it out unfortunately. And I don’t mean that passively, I agree with fans having a voice and holding the club accountable. We can speed reform up the same way those rimming the club for everything they do slow it down. At some point, Top will either make change or sell up and go. The longer it goes on, the further we fall and will become not financially viable for him. But we will still have a club to support. It is a case of how many managers we go through before then and how far we do dip. We may come back up next season but it’s a damn sight less likely than it was the last time.

Did I imagine KDH? 😉 -
I think it was clear I was talking about strategy and squad building. Clearly that was not a strong point of either Ranieri or Rodgers but they came in to squads that had been put together by the builders in Pearson and Puel and took them to that next level yes. But the point was, without a club strategy and a competent DoF, we are reliant on lucking out on a Pearson, Puel or Maresca who brings that and staff who can implement it themselves. It was not intended to downplay or discredit Ranieri particularly, but also Rodgers achievements.
-
I think the issue for me is, that when we have been seen to be well run, it has coincided with managers who have had that building a club philosophy. See Pearson, Puel and Maresca. A couple of managers have stolen the glory in terms of Ranieri and Rodgers with the two big trophy wins but they were putting the touches on their predecessors work and you could see in both cases, things in terms of squad building and behind the scenes deteriorated under both managers. Now I get the argument that you can’t blame someone for things when they go wrong but give zero credit when things go well so yes, you give credit to KP for those appointments, in all cases, 3 for building the club up and the other 2 for what they won. What we don’t do, and what clubs that are doing well currently do, is have a strategic plan at club level that starts with the director of football where the philosophy and plan is coming at club level and managers are brought into fit this. By taking this approach, it only takes one bad appointment or hanging on too long in Rodgers case, for it to come crashing down.

Completely missed that, should read it full! To be fair it was 5am and I had not long since woken up
-
I have thought maybe of the options, Okoli and Vestergard would be the best pairing, or at least compliment each other as Okoli has strengths that are Vestergard’s weakness. Vestergard and Faes doesn’t work. Well I think Faes drags anyone down to his level to be fair. And Coady is just crap and uninterested now.
-
I think Thomas’ contract is until 2026 so probably not in your top category there? Some of those wages look well out though. For example I can’t imagine Hermansen being on less than Alves. And Alves signed a 4 year deal last year didn’t he so wouldn’t expire in 2026. But yeah, generally looks about right in terms of who’d go even if some of the wages our off (I realise you will have picked that from somewhere and not come up with those yourself by the way). I hope you’re right about Coady by the way but I’m not sure we’ll be able to shift him.
-
Amazing like you say. How has that happened? And is that 4 commercial ones already? The one with suspicious circumstances around Russia, was it in Kazahkstan? The Korean one. Washington DC and now this. And that’s just bigger commercial ones, obviously smaller ones like that one in Philly a couple of days after the DC one. Not wanting to make me air travel any time soon to be fair!

I find it disheartening how many on even this forum and this thread as well as the wider fan base seem to think there are no issues within the club and are happy with how things are going. It makes me feel like just let whatever decline we are on continue. It’s Rodgers all over again. Those of us who spoke out early about the decline were mocked and shouted down until it was too late. If we end up back in League 1, so be it.
