I'm not sure how it works, but its clearly nothing even vaguely resembling pay for a job. Other shareholders are obviously betting that Elon getting richer makes them get richer. I won't be buying a Tesla anytime soon that is for sure.

American corporate pay has always been insane. That said Musk is not really just the CEO, but I can't fathom how he takes that much money out.

If you were a prospective owner, looking for a club with profile and planning the next 10 years, we have a lot going for us in terms of investment which is not required - to build a new stadium, training ground to our level could cost a new owner at another club upwards of 500m quid.

I actually have some sympathy with the KP business position. They had a contract under which the government decided they were making too much money when the going was good and ripped it up to take a bigger piece of the pie. Guaranteed share of revenue, regardless of how high that revenue was, and regardless of whether that left anything for KP to make a profit. When the covid downturn came, the government kept taking their share, while revenues dropped to a point which meant after fixed costs and the govt payment, there were large losses. So they again had to go back to the government to renogition their share. Not much they could have done differently imo.

The other slightly concerning thing re Jesus college Cambridge seems to be they are patting themselves on the back for achieving 38% of new undergrads being from BEM population, which is widely recognised to be only 18% of the UK population. I guess they take in a lot of international students (and their money) but it does seem to me to be as hard to justify over 18% as under it. Who is missing out here?

Only in this case the rubbishly appointed professor appears to have survived years of rumblings and accusations about his lack of qualifications for the job because he was a DEI appointment, which is unfortunate. Still good to see the university has now decided to look into it all, like they should have done before he was appointed.

It a bit of a circular argument, but 15k a week is fine for a backup player in the Championship, so if he gets us up this season and plays a bit part role for 2 years while being a good leader in the squad he will be fine. if he doesn't get us up this season, he will be good next season as well.

Trump is arsehole in every conceivable way undoubtedly. That doesn't change my point that projects of all kinds are becoming too hard to deliver due to every possible group whether on land rights, environmental concerns, labour rights etc having the legal ability to challenge every aspect. Eventually we just grind to a halt and offshore all the messy stuff to countries who happily destroy everything to get the resources, production and capability regardless of such concerns. Its a great way to worsen the overall environment while appearing to be righteous, all the while handing the next few centuries to China, India and other countries who don't necessarily like us very much. If we don't wake up to this, our economies will be down the pan and we will be ****ed.
