I agree. He inevitably becomes a short-term, one-year appointment, no matter what happens. Either we fail to get promoted, and he gets sacked. Or we get promoted under him, and then he's the wrong man for the task of staying in the Prem. In which case, we'd need to sack him before the new season starts anyway. If we kept him for the PL, the style of play would see us in Southampton's position. On for the record low-points, top of statistics like 'Errors Leading to Chances', 'Errors Leading to Goals'. The possession game can work when you have better players than your opponent. But now every team presses as a team, it just doesn't work when you have lower-quality players.

I'd prefer a manager who can change the style of play, depending on the opposition. But saying that. If the only options are managers who are wedded to a specific style, then getting a more direct manager is the way forward, for a club in our position. Rather than a possession-oriented manager. Russell Martin may very well be able to get us promoted, but we would 100%, no doubt, with all certainty, be coming straight back down with him.

How much did Chelsea ruin us this season?

People say the style of play under Enzo would've led to the same results. But look at what happened when we played Southampton twice under Enzo, a team who wanted to dominate the ball against us. We hit them on the break for the entirety of both games, and scored 9 goals. Surely we would've seen more of that kind of tactical flexibility this season under Enzo? And people said, at the time, that the players ignored Enzo to play on the counter in those games. If that was the case, why haven't the players ignored Cooper and Ruud this season to play on the counter? We're like 20th for 'Fast Breaks' in the Prem this season. -
Monga isn't on our U21 list for the Premier League, presumably because he's too young. So could only have played in the FA Cup. Would love to see Evans given a chance though!

I think RVN doesn't trust Facundo to defend as a RM. So he will only play him as a 10, joining the striker in a 4-4-2 defensive shape. So he's preferred El Khannouss there, with Mavididi staying wide on the left-side, and Ayew drifting infield as second 10. I maybe would've preferred El Khannouss on the left, with FB as the 10. It does mean McAteer is our only option on the right, but we could have Choudhury sitting behind him at right-back. At the moment, Justin is our only option as an attacking right-back, with Fatawu and Ricardo out injured, which isn't ideal.

Please sub off Ward Ruud 🙏

We were quite literally en-titled in 2016. By the PL, after getting more points than anyone else.

It will be. I think it's also on Radio 5 Live.

El Khannouss on for Ricardo. Fatawu as the right-back. It worked against Southampton. -
Even though sacking him would be a case of 'a stitch in time saves nine' for us, and could be the difference between avoiding relegation or not, it might prevent us finding a good replacement. A manager on the outside is not going to have watched many/any of our games, and see a club who have sacked their manager: - After only 5 league games - Outside of the relegation zone when we're expected to be relegated And think, 'I'm not touching that job with a 10 foot barge pole.' Even though it's probably the right decision, the way the club is perceived from the outside can be important, especially in terms of recruitment. It is a case of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't', in terms of sacking right now. Really he was the wrong appointment to begin with, and we're screwed now 😂

All the games from this season's Carabao Cup are being broadcasted via the red button on Sky Sports 👍

Hermansen Justin Vestergaard Okoli Fatawu Skipp Winks Ricardo Buonanotte Mavididi Vardy Feel like Ricardo needs to start, even though he doesn't suit the system. Maybe LB could work for him? He could also start instead of Skipp? Edit - This is the 'in possession' shape. -
We won there in 2020, I believe.

I have this hypothesis about the expansion delay. The club built the new training facilities for £100m, thinking the entire cost would be exempt from PSR rules. This was then rejected by the authorities, leading to us breaking the rules. The board therefore is worried that pressing ahead with the stadium expansion will inevitably lead to another deduction, in the years to come. So they've put the plans on hold, until they can make sure they avoid further sanctions. Thoughts? Edit - Maybe not, now I think about it more. It doesn't explain how we lost £89m in the 22/23 season, after the training facilities were already finished.

I believe the 2 loans is just for domestic loans, so we could loan more from abroad. Could be wrong though. My information is from Football Manager 😂
-
To be fair, an option wouldn't benefit us at all. It's not like the loaning club is forced to bid at that price (like Bologna with Kristiansen). We're just forced to accept it, if they do. An obligation would've benefited us however.
-
If you just flipped the sides, it suits our players much more. Push #3 back, and play Justin there. Faes/Okoli/Nelson are all right-footed and could cover that role. Push #2 up and that suits Kristiansen. We would lack depth there though. Swap #7 to the right-side and that allows us to play Fatawu in his best position. All we'd need for the starting XI, is it to sign a new starter for #11, i.e. Soule or O'Riley. Ricardo could cover either at #6 or #8, and BDR could cover for #7, #10 and #11, so we'd only need a back-up for #2. To be fair, enough players are still on holiday that we might see this once we have our full squad available.

We wouldn't have to find a player like Bassey, if we'd just not let him leave in the first place 😂
