Austerity has crushed every part of the public sector, including the military. We may have been behind even before that but lack of public spending does equal a country falling apart.

I think we do need to recognise that 20 years ago the country was in a much better state. Immigration isn't the driver for the change, austerity is - together with all its knock on effects - but immigration has proven a useful thing to blame for those that peddled austerity.
