I’m encouraged by his start. I don’t think it was any secret in the footballing world what a mess we are in so it took guts to take us on and to WANT. To be here- he paid some of his compo to come? It’s no shame to have to grind out some results at the beginning of the season whilst everything settles down ( which probably won’t happen until the window closes) and he’s done it whilst also bleeding some youngsters into the team. Admittedly, as things progress I’d like to see the quality of performances improve… but some of our managers recently have looked like a rabbit caught in headlights but he’s taking the challenge head on , and that’s great to see.

Whether he is our best defender or not, to me, is not of any concern. The issue is whether he wants to be here or not. I just feel that our best chance of getting promotion is a strong sense of togetherness in our squad and I don’t think you can get that when you have players who don’t want to be there.

Partly, the problem is chopping and changing the managers so much. Or, more accurately, hiring a manager who has different philosophy to what the current team has and then not giving him money to make the changes he needs . Ending up with square pegs in round holes. Or in skipp’s case, asking a bag of cement to run a marathon..

lets be honest, we were on cheat mode having Kantè fulfill that job. It would be really unfair to judge or use him as a yardstick on which we should sign people. We’re unlikely to ever sign anyone like him again.

charlton have that winning mentality and confidence they’ve brought into this season .. and carried it on.. we’ve brought negativity, off the field issues and lack of confidence… I can’t help but feel if we had confidence and some positivity into our team then it would be as good as a couple of new signings…

he got 3 important blocks in, inside the first 22 minutes,. you don’t have to like him, but to say his performance was shameful is just laughable.

it’s fair to say young players can blow hot and cold sometimes. And developing that consistency is what will set him apart. But I’d rather play someone who’s heart is with us and who might have an off game, that an over paid player who doesn’t want to be here and doesn’t play any better anyway.

If this happens, I might begin to think our owners are starting to put some effort in… but it needs to be followed up by some signings..
