  1. Reminds me of that famous quote- If you don't BANG! you are more likely to be relegated. Rings very true today.
  2. The amount of top players who seem to love the bloke shows what an impact he had. Schmeichel, Vardy, Mahrez, Grealish and Terry all appeared to respect and admire Shakey so much.
  3. Cannot see past a comfortable relegation at this stage, especially with points deductions thrown in. Goalkeeper (if fit) is fine but all other areas look light and no guarantees we will strengthen enough to boost the squad. We are too close to relying on players who should have gone long ago. The team will work hard, the manager will be honest and give his all but we are probably going to need north of 42 points and that is a huge task.
  4. Absolutely. Our win was watched by fans who have followed a mostly rotten team around the country for decades. Whoever wins the Hundred is watched by people flogged cheap tickets and given assorted tat. So glad this competition is strong. Good sides playing at a variety of grounds with encouraging attendances. Superb stuff.
  5. The club was in an absolute state when he arrived with Big Nige and Steve Walsh. There was a real danger we would drift into nothingness. Within two years we were nearly back in the top flight. The title win and Sevilla match will always be most remembered but that early spell was enormous.
  6. Terrible news. A massive part of the club for nearly a decade and came across as a great bloke. RIP Craig.
  7. The saturation coverage doesn't help. You can see every team all the time now. The game is microanalysed. In the past you might have seen teams a few times on TV, when you played them and on highlights shows. Probably better, really, than knowing everything.
  8. Should have given him a free cake
  9. HMS Piss It Down
  10. He's better than that level. This suits him.
  11. You took out half my post. The double was based on the comment that we would get a 16 point deduction for one charge whereas Everton had 8 from two charges, therefore very unlikely.
  12. I like that "not long ago" is over a decade and both were appointed by two different owners.
  13. We haven't even had the hearing yet. Everton have lost 8 points across two charges, ours would be double on one. I think it is only a recommended amount, the commission will ultimately decide. 8 at most, probably.
  14. In the Fa Cup: Lutterworth, Hinckley AFC, Leicester Nirvana, Melton Town and Shepshed Dynamo are all at home. A few in the Midland League such as Leicester St Andrews and Saffron Dynamo. Best way of finding out is to check the FA Full Time page for each league. I would also recommend the Non-League Paper, out each Sunday. Gives the next week's fixtures for virtually all non-league.
  15. Sell Mavididi and Winks but make sure Choudhury gets another two years, then we can recruit.
  16. Edu at Arsenal, Monchi at Villa, Kevin Thelwell at Everton, Begiristain at Man City. Paul Barber (CEO) at Brighton is often on TalkSport, the Ipswich chief executive has done plenty of interviews.
  17. This will do our net run rate the world of good.
  18. I think there should be an umpire's discretion but that lbw seems very harsh.
  19. Looks like a golf caddy.
  20. Shunning the limelight is having a desk job in an insurance firm. A Director of Football at a Premier League club should reasonably be expected to speak publicly at least a couple of times a season.
  21. "You'll be playing for Chesterfield in a few years" said Tom, aged 7.
  22. I get all that but the managers who contributed to it were all sacked bar one (who probably would have been this season) so they were judged on standards and performance. The DOF should be the same.
  23. If we go down again, will anything change? He seems under little pressure.
  24. Yeah. Had that odd 1.45pm start and I think it was over by ten to four
  25. The attack does not look strong. Dewsbury-Hall going is a blow and even a motivated, settled Iheanacho offers probably the most of any of the strikers. Said in the match thread that the squad doesn't look up to this level.
