  1. The same mayor who also welcomed Vichai and Top to their first City league game - and was personally thanked by Vichai in Bruges six years later? He still lives rent-free in some folk's heads after 13 years..
  2. Except it doesn't. Pearson hasn't exactly set the Championship alight in the last two seasons at Bristol City.
  3. Ndidi was pretty decent when Shakespeare was here before, though played more games due to Rudkin messing up the Adrien Silva deal. Saturday's team should tell us who's putting the work in at Seagrave. Defeat is virtually guaranteed, but at least we can put up a little more fight than we've seen in the last few games.
  4. You remember wrongly. MON quit Norwich on the day they played us at Filbert Street. The board at City were about to appoint Mike Walker, but the chairman at the time (Martin George) managed to persuade them to change their mind. It's all in his book, which came out last year.
  5. Like we're not already?
  6. We played at Goodison the week after the last election. Some "Foxes" thought it a spiffing wheeze to chant the name of the prime minister in a city where he is (rightly) reviled for his comments on Hillsborough and a whole lot of other stuff besides. Scousers clearly haven't forgotten or forgiven. But they must have heard the "Feed The Scousers" chant a thousand times before. Judging by their level of outrage on social media, it'd be easy to conclude that ours was the first and only fanbase to sing it.
  7. Many folk who've had Covid will tell you it takes months before making a full recovery. Iheanacho should have been nowhere near the field last night. His mind was probably on AFCON anyway. Also note how many on here and elsewhere have taken the easy option of blaming Freebie (the latest one) and Panicbuy. Both of them have had Covid too, though neither of them were exactly tearing the league apart beforehand. But, Bertrand's woeful spotkick aside, neither played a leading role in our eventual capitulation. As soon as Albrighton came on for Ricardo I feared the worst, even at 3-1. Marc is a Foxes legend and rightly so, but he cannot defend to save his life. Horror shows at Atletico, Palace and Newport (among others) spring to mind. Last night was another one to add to the portfolio. He gave the ball away to set Jota up, then went AWOL on Miramino at the death. But, WTF? We'd only have been smashed at the Emirates anyway. The only comfort left this season is the chance to mount a proper defence of our FA Cup. Defeat by Watford would push Rodgers past the point of no return.
  8. Because it's been so effective on the road this season, and in previous campaigns..
  9. Both elected by the people of Leicester, with nearly 75000 votes between them at their last counts.. Bet a lot of politicians wish they were that disliked.
  10. Shocking that no-one's mentioned this particular scumbag.. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/justin-lee-collins-hit-girlfriend-1345822
  11. Well, that was me told.. But Murray's moved up so much since winning at the Olympics. Did anyone EVER imagine he would have destroyed both Djokovic AND Federer in straight sets? Those wins built up reserves of confidence and self-belief he never showed previously. And he certainly needed to make full use of those last night, against an opponent who has so often been his nemesis in previous grand slam events. Djokovic wasn't always at his best during the marathon contest, but his fighting spirit would probably have been enough to see him home against any other player (Federer and a fit Nadal included). Yet Murray managed to hold his nerve and secure his first major title. There is every prospect that more will follow, especially at Wimbledon. In the meantime, he must have taken over from Bradley Wiggins as favourite for Sports Personality of 2012. Maybe only an F1 title win for Lewis Hamilton can challenge him now.
  12. Murray started well. But he doesn't have the composure or stamina to keep his game together over five sets. That's why he'll always be vulnerable against the very top players, and with too many of those around right now, he's very unlikely to ever win a major. But at least his Gazza-style antics after the match will stand him in good stead at the end of the year when sports awards are handed out. Even if Team GB win a shedload of gold medals at the Olympics, too many Brits prefer a "brave loser" to a genuine winner.
  13. Forget the farce of Chisora v Haye. Price v Fury is where the real action will be.
  14. The bus still has to park in South London on Saturday. Would you be comfortable leaving it there for a couple of hours? It'll either be packed out, or left torched and on bricks...
  15. Until 5pm tonight. We won't win at Ipswich. And Blackpool, Cardiff and Middlesbrough all have comfortable fixtures this afternoon. I'll be amazed if at least two of them don't win.
  16. Apparently he's only on a short-term contract - until the end of May. Hope he doesn't end up being poached by a richer club..
  17. Wouldn't be surprised - Ward's performance on and off the pitch was indefensible and any interview he gave would have only made him look even worse.
  18. He had a shocker. Pearson had every right to have a go at him. It was to the credit of the players on the field that they escaped without suspension or serious injury. If the FA wish to retain ANY credibility with their "respect" campaign they will hold an investigation and take the necessary action against this moron.
  19. The Chase - ITV1.
  20. Because, it seems the fcukwit who captained us in that game prefers us to kick towards the Kop in the first half. Just like we did in the Bristol City and Millwall games when the tactic proved such a success...
  21. Unless we bring more loan signings in... But if the window ends and we still have the same first-choice midfield we have now, that will tell us all we need to know about the (lack of) ambition at the club.
  22. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2072639/Tory-MP-Aiden-Burley-Nazi-stag-night-French-ski-resort.html Having a Nazi-themed bash of any time is poor taste in any circumstances. But staging it in a country the Nazis actually invaded and occupied defies belief. No wonder Brits are about as popular as syphilis in Europe right now.
  23. Neither was the post it was in response to.
  24. This. Check out the evidence given to the Leveson Inquiry to see what depths the tabloids and others will sink to. While a celeb (footballer or otherwise) may deserve to be pilloried for marital infidelities, that is NO justification for harassment and/or bullying of their family, friends or neighbours, or the hacking of their phones or email accounts.
  25. Oh really? Did you go to the game there this season? For the first 80 minutes the home areas were like a morgue, apart from when they were booed off at half time, and when the A-block aimed a couple of racist jibes at us. Even when they beat us 5-1 a couple of years back the atmosphere was nothing special. Some of our fans really do need to lose their inferiority complex.
