  1. Anyone been watching the Grand slam. Group stages have served up some interesting games. Onto the real stuff tonight Gonna go Woodhouse, Gezzy, Humphries and Smith tonight. Would love to see Bully boy go far after the year he's had. .
  2. It should start in the summer. In our financial position we should be signing two types of player for me. 1. Young players in the Jordan James mould, talented young players that we can pick up cheap, obviously they'll be a gamble at the prices we'll be looking at. We should be looking to bring in players that can improve with us and either get us promoted or be sold on for profit. 2. Experienced players with a good mentality that are happy to come in on short term contracts and won't be wanting the world in salary. Both of these types of player will bring their own benefits and more importantly, we will be able to bring down our ludicrous wage budget. First thing we need to do if fix the wage budget and give ourselves much more maneuverability. Essentially going down the route that helped build our success under Pearson.
  3. I think this is fair as it gets. This exact post could also be used to describe Kasey McAteer hHa
  4. Christ lad, for someone that hates negativity, literally all of your posts are miserable as hell
  5. So its nothing to do with travelling distance
  6. Football fans are my favourite people
  7. Sounds about right. Craig Dawson scoring an overhead kick to kill our champions league dreams also sticks out for me
  8. We kept Wes Hoolahan and Grant Holt quiet today. Thats a big step in the right direction
  9. Feeling oddly optimistic today! 3-1 win and the talk suddenly turns back to play offs
  10. Picking the one guy that has actively prevented goals whilst missing essentially open goals in the past 2 or 3 games probably isn't a strong case
  11. If Nathan Jones ever ends up working at our club, I will absolutely hate watch every game and pray for the opposition to smash us. He's the biggest bellend going. Weird weird weird little man. He even makes Rodgers seem like a decent bloke.
  12. Talking of aussie footballers. That Herrington at Brisbane has to be worth a look. Only just turned 18 and appears to be a regular at this point
  13. He missed 4 games for them in the entire season, and started and played the whole game most of the time. Doesn't strike me as someone they didn't fancy.
  14. We technically can, but I can't see it. Sticking with my 4th to 10th prediction
  15. Man City, famously known for their weakness I think it simply boils down to personality types, we've not done due dilligence on that aspect of players since Nige got sent packing.
  16. Oh man that's sad, sorry to hear that. I've been at a point where I don't really care about the results for a few years now, so I definitely won't begrudge them a victory in honour of your mate. That being said, despite results having 0 effect on me, I'm on here every day, watch every game I can and know far too much about the club It's the hope that we get back to having anything better than abysmal leadership.
  17. It does indeed, sarcasm doesn't come across very well on the internet haha
  18. Just checked and they've had approximately 60% possession in every home aside from Southampton which was 49-51. Another possession merchant getting rinsed on the counter. If we approach the game like we did Middlesborough then they'll see 60-65% of the ball. So the front three has to be Fatawu, Daka and Mav or Monga. At least have players that can get up a bit of speed for us to pass into space, even if the end product is often honking. I'd probably go Begovic Ricardo Any of the other three Nelson Thomas James Winks Fatawu Monga Mav Daka
  19. Have we tried re-doubling our efforts on the training ground yet?
  20. England players everywhere! look at us go. Can't wait for them to get their spots in the first team squad in 6/7 years. Although if operation league one goes according to plan, we could see them sooner Heskey's lad with 2 assists and a goal looks solid.
  21. Wasnt expecting war and peace but thats a very good response mate Agree with your sentiments
  22. Youd hope he looks decent against the likes of Bahrain and Indonesia to be fair
  23. I think i said before but it feels like any game we play is a 50/50 whether its top of the league or bottom. I imagine mentally its easier to raise their levels against the perceived better sides. Its a really odd squad we have at the minute. If theres someone out there capable of getting those elevated performance levels out of the team of a weekly basis we would be alright. Just struggling to believe that this person exists atm haha We probably need to hire a bastard of a manager, but they invariably have 6 good months then it tails off when the players begin to detest them.
  24. They were signed to play there, by us. Like I've said before, people equate experience to talent. I don't know how much more evidence is needed to prove that experience doesnt really matter if your talent or personality don't match the level your club happened to play at. Ricardo is ace, but can only play about 60-70% of games. The others were part of a team that put in plenty of grim performances at this level. Having a player like KDH was the difference in a lot of games being a win instead of a draw. 12 goals and 14 assists. Ndidi in midfield. Feel free to expect it, but the stats and eye test tell me that a majority these are players are perceived to be better than they are. I think if we brought in 2 or 3 leaders they would help elevate general performance levels. But we've got far too many wet blankets and few of them have winner mindsets. The money they earn they should be top 2. However we all know the reason why were overpaying. I just don't think we have enough players that really want to do well. Plenty know that theyre either in their last good contract or are free to leave the club in the summer, so how the club does isn't really relevant to them. Ability wise they should have enough, but you need the mindset to go with that and weve managed to get into a position where a lot of senior players have little reason to be motivated to do well.
  25. What does that look like in your opinion? If we remove the senior players that contribute little and bring in the younger lads, you have to accept that results won't likely improve in the short term and be willing to accept the pain that comes with development. Which I would be all for, knowing that they'd be gaining invaluable experience and would stand us in good stead in the longer term. If you think a 4th manager is suddenly going to have the senior players playing with the ability and confidence of a top 6 championship side then I think that's incredibly unlikely. It's imperative that we get a few out in Jan and bring in some proper leaders and physicality in January if we have any designs on going up. Still standing by my shout that Barry Bannan would have been an excellent signing this summer. Great mentality and a grafter at this level, something we're massively lacking overall.
