Determined to actually start a thread today aren't ya mate?
-
There's some part of me that hopes the only offers for him are from Turkey or something. The idea of Mr "I won't leave London" suddenly packing his wife and newborn off to Istanbul, amuses me.
-
Honestly a little surprised he hasn't lined himself up 6 foot to the left of the screen.

Looks like Millwall have a medical ongoing for a forward. Who plays 9/10. Sorry if that's old news.

Id been wanting a physically dominant unit to complement our strengths on the wings. I don't feel that this is the guy really, but if the boss feels that his work rate and intelligence will be more important then that's good enough for me.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)
ts_1010 replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
Not surprised he's behaving like this. It worked when he came here, it'll probably work now. Glover needs to have 2/3 players lined up. Even with Bilal we are short a cam player, we clearly lack ideas. -
Wout Faes (Besiktas interest, Fabrizio Romano)
ts_1010 replied to jonny_wright's topic in Transfer Talk
Ignoring the obvious attitude issues, there are still problems with Wout as an actual defender. (Personally I sort of liked that he gave the Leicester fans some stick after bagging the winner.) He's average in a number of areas where he needs to excel as a defender. He has enough pace to be mobile, but still gets left behind by Prem strikers regularly. He's about 6 foot but not big enough to command his box. He's not weak but regularly gets muscled off the ball in 50-50s by strikers who aren't necessarily monsters themselves. Micky Antonio used to bully him every time they played on all three of these fronts. He's confident, but I never really see him marshalling the defence taking the lead. He does make some interceptions Infront of the defence, but still gets caught out when his reading of the game lets him down. If he could excel in at least one of these areas there would be a case for him to stay. But his talent ceiling is upper Championship and his attitude suggests he's upper premier league. He's best off gone. -
Kasey McAteer (gone to Ipswich, official. 12m.)
ts_1010 replied to moore_94's topic in Transfer Talk
12m is very good money. But it's always a little sad to see a grafter leave. The money, every penny of it, needs spending. He's got some potential, and McKenna seems to have a talent for improving players. Hopefully he does the same for Kasey. -
He has a fair point. If fans demand passion and pride from the players but are leaving with 15 minutes to go, it's not like they are showing the same desire themselves is it. He's entitled to speak his mind, and as long as he gives his best on the pitch I think he has the right to hold us to the same standard. He is still young himself, and he had 6 months out with a bad injury. So even with his level of talent there will be inconsistencies. What I took from that message was him asking us to pitch in alongside the players especially in games where were playing poorly. That's what we used to do.

How can we keep saying that we need to play our youth products and we also need to bin them at the 1st mistake? If we play the youth we will get mistakes. If we sell the youth and buy mercenaries we will have less mistakes, but no soul left in the club. Choose.

Winks is a flat track bully. Against technically inferior players, when they can't pose a threat in behind or with a good press, he looks very good. Against prem teams who dominate the ball or who press him well, he starts to look anonymous. When the team he's in is worse than the opposition he will never be the guy to make something happen. He won't be any use to us if we get promoted. Unfortunately he is the best player we have at breaking a low-mid block. Without him in the team opposition teams can sit deep and feel safe

I can accept a season of mid-table mediocrity. I can accept a frustrating grind of a season. I can't accept a squad that is so obviously lacking in key areas, where the manager does not get backing despite player sales. I can't accept players who obviously want to be elsewhere, being picked to play. I can't see a plan to develop the next spine of the team, if they won't replace Vardy, who they knew was leaving a year ago. We sit on a knife edge as a club. Either we can rebuild properly, cleverly, balancing the books and cutting out the dead weight. Developing players from our own academy, blending them with young talents carefully selected to supplement the team. Using this season to build for the next. Or, we mismanage this crop of young talent coming through, stay stuck in the bottom half of the league with a disfunctional squad. PSR will force us to sell off our young players in steady, soul crushing installments.

What all of us? Bet she's sore.

I don't mind him as a bench option. He has the ability to cover at right back and CDM. And I never like to see a local boy sold off. Having said that, he's a bit part player, and we can use the money. Thanks Hamza, best of luck.

The club can only control one half for the negotiation in terms of leaks. And it's not much of a secret anyway if the lad is following us on Insta. Having said that, yeah I hope this doesn't get sniped by Leeds or someone.

Could we get actually get relegated again this season?
ts_1010 replied to Bevan's topic in Leicester City Forum
We have enough to survive fairly comfortably. We are light on goals. And we will be exposed at the back all too often when we are pressing high to score that goal. The club is clearly torn, and rudderless. Do they go all out for promotion this year and try to run very close to the PSR limit? Will their target players be as keen to come to the club if we are hamstring already with a deduction? Do they use this year as a building phase, getting rid of players who want out and recycling the squad? It feels a bit like we are almost planning to be in the championship next year. Spend as little as possible, shed the high earners blood the youth increasingly throughout the year. -
The one thing that he has in his favour is his left footedness. It provides balance to the back line when the LB pushes high. It means that the back line would be a bit more counter resistant. But this is true of any CB that is comfortable filling in at leftback. The one thing I would say is that his passing range might remove the need to play Vesty.

We are looking at losing Bilal and Abdul. We're going to need a replacement winger, 2 cams, a striker. All in the last few weeks of of the window. The most ineffective admin team in the league is going to be scrambling to get deals over the line. If Abdul leaves this season is over, we would be doing a full rebuild, over a couple of seasons.
-
I think of you played Monga from the start Mav would look top tier if he came on at 70 mins. I think they are both class but Mavididi hasn't suddenly become a placeholder in this league. We will need them both. So there's no point in arguing over starting position after the 1st game.
-
Just having a striker that forces CBs to double up on him would be a huge benefit for the way we play. Our wingers are going to be our big threat this year. So having defenders feel like they can't support their fullbacks too much, as they won't be able to handle the cross into the box, is going to make our wingers more dangerous. If teams want to double up on Fatawu and Mavididi/Monga, and they will, they will have to bring over midfielders which opens space in the middle. If Kone can be aerially dominant, it makes the low block much less effective. If he has the strength to hold off a defender while making a decent wall pass, or sliding through a runner, then he can really damage teams defending the way Wednesday did. We don't have anyone like him in the club. This makes far too much sense. He's going to go to Preston isn't he?
-
At this level he is more than good enough. Especially against the low block. But given his age, and his possible fallout with the club last year, if he receives a good offer he can go. We just need to ensure we have someone coming in. From a practical perspective I don't think he will be nearly as effective in the prem. At least not for us. The press is so much better in the prem, and promoted sides have struggled against the press over the last few years.

His moving van spotted in Morrisons Car park! You don't get this sort of ITK info from Romano's twitter account.

We've had plenty of issues with Turkish clubs, but now they have some cash behind them they are playing less games. So I'm expecting wild to go through quite smoothly. If the club had concerns then they shouldn't be turning down bids from other clubs. This money is hopefully being turned around and spent on Kone straight away. A young target man could be just what we need.
-
Sensible all round. He wants to play in Europe if he can. We need money. He won't improve, if anything he will decline in value. Let's just use the money well.
-
They have Zaha, Haller, Datro Fofana and a few others like Latte Lath and that guy at Salzburg to choose from. He will probably not be selected unless there are injuries. He's not high profile enough. And they won't be scouting other players at Leicester and spot him at the same time, as I don't think we have any Ivorians.
