Brentford (A) Saturday 3pm - Match Thread
deep blue replied to tcrofts's topic in Leicester City Forum
Just noticed on the BBC match website that Chris Sutton's official title is "BBC Sport Predictions Expert". Ha ha. -
The much-maligned Thomas was an integral part of the team that season and never looked out of place. It's odd how something seemed to affect Rodgers' mentality and he ended up bringing the whole team down and badly messing the career of some of the players. The football was exhilarating. As you say ... seems an age ago.

Ruud awakening for the Premier League!

A good theory, except that I think such a dramatic announcement would only be appropriate at a home game. Surely they wouldn't drag it out till then? -
We've redefined the meaning of "goalhanger" under Cooper. Hopefully we'll move on from that now
-
Would be brilliant - as long as his health is up to it.

Has nobody living close to the KP been out spotting at the ground? No-one know how to plane-spot for Top either?

There's always been a boozy, partying culture in football. I seem to remember similar events during the Great Escape and Prem Title seasons. They seem to help the togetherness of the squad. I see it as a good thing when we've had such a disappointing season, with apparent fall-outs with the manager, if those fall-outs aren't between the players themselves, and the squad remains pretty united. Ignore the ridiculous press/social media take on this. Let's just look forward for a hopefully more fruitful rest of season when we can start to identify more positively with our players again.
-
Certainly that's one requirement.

But as Jimjams pointed out, we were good against Bournemouth in the cup last season, even with more second string players than they had on the pitch. Two points from that - 1 Cooper isn't putting any faith in our youngsters who could probably perform adequately in small spells if managed well (e.g. BCR preferred to Alves yesterday, again), 2 Our squad has enough capability to compete in this division. The key in each case is the quality of the coach, and in that we are sadly lacking.

Echo Bernice Gunter- great writing, very interesting character & stories. Have read all of Cynthia Harrod-Eagles (a mouthful, and someone who I think's not well known) Inspector Slider series. Think Dalzeil & Pascoe et al. Detective series with 2 main characters with witty interplay, good supporting characters, interesting plots, and the whole writing style is full of humour. Ideal for TV series. For anyone who likes detective novels and hasn't heard of her I would recommend giving it a go, preferably trying to read them in order.

My disenchantment started a year into Rodgers' reign when I could see the writing on the wall, and has continued in decline from then. I wrote to the Board twice in the relegation season but, of course, was ignored. The Board seem clueless in football matters. When you've been engaged with football over a long period you've seen all the ups & downs and can sense when things are starting to go awry within a club. I've supported Leicester for 70 years and will always do so - I go around with Leicester shirt and scarf to most things. But like most on here I am finding it harder and harder to be quite so invested in the players, performances and results. Like others, I see the squad built up during Puel's time to have turned into a wasted opportunity, and the lack of support for our young players - having to sell off local grown successes because of bad financial management, selecting old Prem has-beens rather than giving opportunities to our development players and losing our best prospects to the rich clubs - a huge disappointment. The fortunes of a club undergo ups and downs over the years, none more than our roller-coaster of a club, so I just hope that somehow something will happen soon to arrest the decline and put us on an upward path again.

Joe Wormleighton looked close to ready for a shot in the first team 2 years ago; has he gone downhill from then?
-
Wasn't that the game where Mahrez laid on a goal for Vardy with a magical pass - cushioned a long ball out from defence on the volley directly into the path of Vardy in appalingly wet conditions?
-
Thx all for replies/advice on this. Suspected it would be too good to be true.

Sounds depressingly familiar

Ten Hag?
-
Exactly. In the 2nd half it was men v boys. They always seemed to have well enough men in defence to cope with our attacks, but whenever they attacked they tended to steam out from defence in unison and overwhelm our defence. It's as if they sniffed out our vulnerable moments and attacked ruthlessly as a unit. That can only be explained by on-field managerial adjustments to their system.

If only we'd shown the same alacrity in sacking Rodgers...
-
Am inclined to agree. Don't dislike Cooper for that approach from the start (at least in some games), what I can't stand is his game management - his reluctance to change things up, his inappropriate subs and his subbing too late.

But maybe they'd heard of "Notts Forest" -
I saw an advert online for a product called "nanosparkle", allegedly removes scratches from your car. Sounds too good to be true. Does anyone know anything about it?

I'd steal it ... am a bit short on top
