  1. im hoping that the new manager is that person. I suspect (hope) he is provided he is given the time and the support needed. I get the impression that beneath the surface he might be quite ruthless. That said, if there isnt the top level support need to change things and deal with those players, then you cant just cut your nose off to spite your face in a 'results orientated business'
  2. Playing a percentage game…….like it! good strategy in the long run but tbf it’s not come up for you tonight
  3. I like Bilal - i think hes a talented player (with caveats), and i dont want to see him leave as he's on of those players who can do something that gets you off your seat and I always feel he puts a shift in. All that said, I dont think he's as good as this thread generally implies and i cant see any top half team wanting him other than potentially as a squad player. His finishing, final ball and decsion making is not (yet) top class and I dont think losing him would be a terrible loss if the money is right. I hope he doesnt go - hes a good player to watch
  4. or....third option...... people just make sh*t up on the internet to make it sound like they have some relevance rather than being quite pathetic individuals desperately seeking some form of attention and validation
  5. not sure about his ego, but, if hes looking post playing career at a media career then the media profile plus access to the owners to learn from might sway him over short term financial wins here....and i dont think hes stupid Heres hoping!
  6. No one will ever reach those dizzy heights again. No one!
  7. ah...my bad..should have checked. Thank you!
  8. what was that tactics video please?
  9. Exactly that. Non of us know exactly what has happened, when, why or how in detail during this recruitment process. Its almost all speculation as It makes total sense that a club would keep its business as close to its chest as possible, and not potentially undermine its efforts by communiicating to fans at every step. Its fruistrating for sure but completely the right approach. Those whos opinions are already formed will see this lack of communication as being evidence of their absolution conviction of incompetence because thats what they already beleive. Maybe it is incompetenece and reactive chaos. Maybe its just been a complex thing with lots of moving parts needing to align in order to deleiver a clearly defined vision for the club.
  10. very well articulated sense of relationship with the club. Not quite at your 50, but Im a 30 year season ticket holder and I feel exactly the same. This last year was the first time I ever seriously contemplated not renewing. Its not because of where we are - thats part of the ebb and flow of football - its almost everything to do with the modern game and its gradual 'americanisation'. lets see how this guy does and wether his style draws us back in. I do hope so.
  11. Not sure that its quite this dramtically bad, but I do agree that those who think we'll be right up there are being far more optimistic than the evidence currently suggests we might have a reasonable expectation to be. I think we are easily good enough even with a points deduction to stay out of trouble at the bottom. Putting the board and manager situation to one side, we have some decent players but we dont know for certain who will be here and who will not. Once we get a bit closer to the start of the season we'll have a better idea (A statement of the 'bleedin' obvious I know). Personally I worry most about the lack of a consistent goal scorer to lead from the front. Daka has never shown he's quite got it, although tbf I'm never sure weve really played to his strengths
  12. I was ready to believe until you suggested Daka scored a brace. Thats just to far...its got to be grounded in some level of reality man!
  13. Give over with your sensible comments
  14. I had a serious think about whether to renew my season ticket and theres not been a season in the last 30 that that has been the case. For me its all about the way football is going and much less about the ups and downs of the club. Ups and downs are just part of the cycle and the downs make the ups so much more emotional. All that said Its just becoming boring...tippy tappy football where the centre halves spend half the game passing it backwards and forwards between themselves is not for me. The overwhealming dominance of money over jeopardy and glory and the gradual takeover and 'americanisation' of the game is turning it into something else and not something that excites me. Perhaps I'm just an grumpy older guy...but I havent lost the never ending 'hope'. Club needs a rebuild from top to bottom and we have a chance of doing that in the Championship......so I renewed........in hope
  15. Really not sure whether this is a good appointment or not. I am however glad they have rolled the dice and not stuck with Cooper
  16. There is clearly a fighting spirit in the team that, if the players weren't with the manager, would not be there as consistently as it is. He's doing better in terms of results than many of us feared. There comes a point where those of us who are actually prepared to change opinions based on evidence start giving him some credit. Im not saying I'm fully convinced, but hes clearly doing somethings right.
  17. I know its a friendly so i'm not going to take to much from it, but I've got to be honest with you davieG, cant defend and cant score doesnt sound like general play is ok. Its a version of enzo ball thats less effective and considerable more boring...which to be frank takes some doing
  18. I agree, although it has to be said that there were flashes of brilliance and very pleasing on the eye football as well. The problem was the turgid stuff signifcantly outweighed the brilliant by a long long margin..... at least for me it did. I recognise that others liked the tactical nature of the games and thats fair enough
  19. i agree with most of your sentiments, but I’m sure we can both acknowledge the good work enjoyed he’s done, the position he has got us to and be desperate for him to succeed. All that said, to be successful in the long run i feel he needs to have a more multi dimensional philosophy. I feel that ‘controlling the game’ regresses very often to ‘controlling the ball’ which isn’t the same thing. An unintended consequence is that the style often (usually) suppresses offensive spirit.
  20. Obviously everyone sees things through their own perpective and each of us is entitled to our opinions. It doesnt make us entitled or lessor fans, whatever the view point is. I think everyone involved deserves massive credit for turning the club around and having the season we are having. Just because we 'should' be promoted with this squad doesnt mean we automatically would be, so hats off to everyone involved. Without a doubt the club and fans objectives for this is season are being met. Bravo. Now i can say all that and at the same time, and far to frequently, find it massively dull and uninspiring. Its rarely worth turning up until about 60 min. Those two view points are not mutually exclusive and the latter point is why, in my humble opinion, there is as the OP suggested, a bit of a malaise. If youve been watching the club for more than the last decade then I doubt whether 'entitlement' is a thing I think like most, I would see it as tolerable in the short term because of the results and the desire to get back into the Permier League. I dont think most would find it tolerable in the long term though. Football is about passion and excitement. The current methods, at least for me, suck to much of that out of the game. This is nothing to do with the effort the players put in which is self evident. Its the style
  21. well if big Nige says its a penalty for us and a red against us then so be it
  22. Im definitely on board with the team rather than the individual. I think Mahrez is the best technical player ive seen at Leicester and probably most other clubs whilst Kante was a phenomenon. All that said and done and despite him coming to the end, there is only one GOAT
  23. I can accept the fact that results don’t always go your way and that you can’t play like Brazil every game, but Im struggling to accept, despite our position in the league, such consistently tedious to watch football.
