sphericalfox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 The pound-for-pound worst healthcare system point? Yes I did, see other thread (i.e. the one you made the point on). You provided no evidence for this assertion. Link us all up Shortstop!

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Hmm, I don't agree with this, I just don't think people who aren't looking in to it, just to rock up and tick a box, surely a lot of people would just do what their mates do? My feelings towards democracy in general are a bit controversial, just doesn't sit right with me that 2 absolute idiots votes counts double that of a genius.

How different is that from the morons who vote for who the Sun tells them to?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Good point. I just think there must be a better way of doing things, what that is I don't know, mind.
1993fox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Why? So that we can add some more young, brainwashed leftists to a bunch of elections that are already eroded by liberal leftist agendas?
Stadt Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 I'm 17 and I've never been taught about politics, what I know I've had to learn myself Probably a good thing seeing as 90% of my teachers are lefties
Webbo Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 I'm 17 and I've never been taught about politics, what I know I've had to learn myself Not off foxestalk I hope?
Guest Bilo Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Why? So that we can add some more young, brainwashed leftists to a bunch of elections that are already eroded by liberal leftist agendas? A good teacher would ensure you'd never know their political bent - my students only find out if they ask about my political views. Some vote Tory, some vote UKIP and some vote Labour. The main thing to tackle is total political ignorance, such as rambling on about brainwashed leftists and their imaginary liberal leftist agendas.
sphericalfox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 I'm 17 and I've never been taught about politics, what I know I've had to learn myself Probably a good thing seeing as 90% of my teachers are lefties Let's be very clear, there's no time for indoctrination in public/private school. If your parents could have afforded you a proper education, you'd be an independent thinker.
ScouseFox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 im 20 and have never been taught about politics and know nothing about politics. also if they want me to vote then i better be able to do it with one click online like everything else in the world.

Nobody should be reliant on their parents affording a proper education - it should be a right, available to all.
Unabomber Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 I'm 26 and have never been taught about politics, cept when I studied politics at a level but that was bad teaching so don't count.
sphericalfox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Nobody should be reliant on their parents affording a proper education - it should be a right, available to all. Meh, there needs to be a ruling class, and I for one am thankful that the Tories, and their hanger-ons differentiate between the two, and a higher educated, non-indoctrinated class are our masters.

Think of what websites teenagers tend to visit these days (apart from porn) - Buzzfeed, tumblr, etc, very ultra-left leaning websites which teenagers are exposed to from a young age. The sort of websites that in a couple of years will start campaigning for normalizing pedophilia and zoophilia because love is love etc, so imo yes the vast majority of sub-18 voters are disproportionately left-leaning.
Bryn Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 The pound-for-pound worst healthcare system point? Yes I did, see other thread (i.e. the one you made the point on). What is this absolute garbage? The NHS is considered to achieve incredible amounts pound-for-pound worldwide. You any idea how many US patients get see in the ER within four hours? Whichever one of you said this (it's not clear to me from your post) needs to tear up your ballot.

In all seriousness, this is exactly the kind of thing I mean when I talk about political ignorance. Do you actually know what ultra left means? Examples of ultra left governments are very rare, but Democratic Kampuchea would be up there. Have a look at what happened in the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng, it will bear absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to whatever ideology websites such as Buzzfeed and Tumblr espouse. I absolutely guarantee you that Buzzfeed and Tumblr will not be encouraging the youth of 2017 to go out and have sex with children or animals. That's just insane. As for youths being disproportionately left leaning, not really. The lack of political education in our country means that kids are likely heavily influenced by their parents, what they hear on the news and others. If you have right-wing parents, you'll probably be on the political right in your youth. I actually work with young people for a living, and their political views are actually very diverse. The notion that we'd have an army of communist, tofu munching sandal wearers covered in Clearasil if more youths voted is far from reality.

You seem to have an alarming fixation with paedophilia and zoophilia: were you fvcked by the family dog when you were a kid?

You're absolutely clueless if you think there's no difference. Study after study, poll after poll, the youth start left wing then gradually come over to the right as they go through their 'political journey'. Or 'start paying taxes' in plain English. As you love a link so much here's one showing Greens level with Tories among young voters, Greens don't register among older voters and Tories dominate. You can see exactly the opposite trend with UKIP (quote Matthew Goodwin if you need stats for that one). https://yougov.co.uk/news/2015/01/13/greens-tied-conservatives-among-young-people/

Might this have something to do with the amount of publicity UKIP are receiving?
ousefox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 It's criminal that politics isn't taught at schools properly. They did some 'citizenship' lessons but they always used to be a doss. I was doing my A-levels and people didn't even know the difference between left and right wing. This was at one of the best rated comprehensives in the country. I'd love to see politics taught from secondary school age and think it'd really make a difference. Also, I also haven't noticed 1993fox until today - can't tell if he's wumming or just ****ing weird.
