Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 The recent results arent about tactically learning anything. They are about players playing out of their skins because they are staring relegation in the face.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Sack him and bring in Lee whatshisname from Blackpool. A great motivator...

You honestly figure Pearson tactically has learned absolutely nothing even though we are playing more of an attacking format these past few games?
sylofox Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Sack him and bring in Lee whatshisname from Blackpool. A great motivator... That good you can't remember his name? lol
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Keep him either way, definitely. Proven great track record in the Champ, and it looks like he's finally finding his feet in the Premier League. Granted, we had a horrible time for the most part of this season down to odd squad choices, poor individual performances, times where we just couldn't score (and elements out of our hands - some definite bad luck and poor refereeing) but if we stay up with Pearson in charge, the squad will be more experienced and added to, Pearson will have learnt and I just can't imagine having another winless run like we did Loads of people wanted Pearson out on that awful run 2 years ago but we finished the season with a bang then had a fantastic campaign next time out. Who's to say that won't happen again?* *A fantastic season being coming comfortable mid-table... Don't think we're likely to storm this league in my lifetime
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 I want him here next season. I think he is crucial to taking the club forward as a whole. People are far too quick to write managers off in this day and age. He's a good manager who has had to find his feet in this division along with a lot of the players, that's what having a decade out the top flight will do to a team and I've no doubt whether we stay up or go down, with who we can realistically attract as a manager, he's the best option to take us forward next season.
Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 You honestly figure Pearson tactically has learned absolutely nothing even though we are playing more of an attacking format these past few games? Hmmm, im losing at half time in a game i absolutely have to win, because we are staring relegation in the face. What should i do? Any fan with any kind of footballing knowledge whatsoever would have seen West Brom making their chances and look to exploit their lack of pace and players out of position at full backs, and take more risks going forward. He changed to the West Ham system, fair play. But its hardly earth shattering brilliance to work out you are losing in a game you need to win and therefore take more risks going forward is it. Its what the situation dictated. What other option is there?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Absolutely laughable the amount of people who just flatly refuse to give the man any sort of credit for anything and obviously never will.
ealingfox Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 You are genuinely just a massive twat if you say you'd sack him even if he kept us up.
Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Absolutely laughable the amount of people who just flatly refuse to give the man any sort of credit for anything and obviously never will. Scoring 100 points in the championship: Massive credit Bringing in unheard of gems, the likes of Knockaert, Mahrez who seriously improve the team for peanuts: Massive credit Shipping out tons of deadwood and repairing the damage made by other managers: Massive credit Being 2-1 down in a game and making some changes: Obvious
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Absolutely laughable the amount of people who just flatly refuse to give the man any sort of credit for anything and obviously never will. Is it fair to say your a 'Pro Pearson' kinda chap?
Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 You are genuinely just a massive twat if you say you'd sack him even if he kept us up. Right, ok, lets be reasonable about this. If he keeps us up, and in the summer, there is a better management alternative available that can take the club further forward, we dont turn him down just as a thankyou gesture do we?

LJS Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 I've been saying he should go since the cup game at Villa Park. But if he keeps us up it's job done, I'll have been wrong and he will have earned the right to stay.
Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Anyone can make changes for changes sake, could easily of made bad changes and made us worse and gone on to lose the game. Which he has done this season on loads of occasions, which off the back of 2 wins are now being completely glossed over. Its like people cant remember anything past the last 90 mins.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Is it fair to say your a 'Pro Pearson' kinda chap? Why wouldn't I be? He's took the club from the lowest point in its history back to the big league. More than happy to call what he's got wrong this season, and he has, but why focus on that when he's turning things round and we've got momentum with us?
Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 lol lol Troll in the dungeon. It had to come, the AKCJ post. It simply had to come.

Get off your soapbox

Its like people cant remember anything past the last 90 mins. He's made plenty of mistakes this season, I don't think anyone who isn't just trying to one up someone would say otherwise, but again, why focus on that rather than the fact he's turning a corner with the club and there's real cause for optimism?

Because as ive said, i believe its the situation forcing his hand. If the situation WASNT forcing his hand, why would you play Palace, Stoke, Sunderland, Hull, West Brom at home and not muster a goal? Focus on it because thats whats put us bottom of the league.
AKCJ Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 People are still falling for Donut's wummery. You don't actually believe him do you? Edit; Got my names mixed up (-:
ealingfox Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Right, ok, lets be reasonable about this. If he keeps us up, and in the summer, there is a better management alternative available that can take the club further forward, we dont turn him down just as a thankyou gesture do we? You mean as in if one of us can look into the future and know that the alternative will be better for us than Pearson? Then yes you will have a good case for getting rid whatever happens.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 You could level that argument at a lot of the teams above us who are currently struggling to score, and look in real trouble, we're scoring goals and playing with confidence. We could go back and focus on the horror run 2 seasons ago we were currently going through. I just think over the course of his reign(s), what he's got right far outweighs what he's got wrong and the club, as a whole, is in a much, much stronger position as a result.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Right, ok, lets be reasonable about this. If he keeps us up, and in the summer, there is a better management alternative available that can take the club further forward, we dont turn him down just as a thankyou gesture do we? But that's a huge gamble. Sven has a better CV than Pearson, doesn't mean he can do a better job at this football club at this particular time. If he keeps us up there should be no thought of getting rid. Everything Nigel does is part of a structured plan for this football club in terms of its current progression and the future, which has been bought into by the owners who have invested heavily in the future (Training Ground, Academy, Stadium etc.) Why gamble on someone who may be better, may be worse when we have someone already who has so far not failed to achieve any of his aims at the club?
