hackneyfox Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Baffling? Unbelievable? Really? But we're not fighting for a Champions League spot, we're bottom of the league with arguably one of the better squads in the bottom half after spending more than most of our rivals this season. Shoe on the other foot, how bad would we have had to be this season for some fans wanting to see him sacked? About 25%!would keep him if we went down 2 divisions as he's got us promoted from there before.
Babylon Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 arguably one of the better squads in the bottom half after spending more than most of our rivals this season. Sorry, but that point isn't even arguable. There is absolutely no proof that we have one of the best squads in the bottom half, most of those teams have been assembled with huge amounts of premier league cash over several years. We spent a bit more than Burnley and that's about it, but most of that extra spending was only in January.
Donut Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Why is it that if you are critical of Pearson, that the basis of your criticism must be a personal dislike? why is this levelled all the time? And if this is the case, why do so many people who brand this criticism also flatly refuse to credit Sean Dyche, frankly laughing at his media work and management at times when he has achieved the same goal from the chamionship of promotion, and has a fighting chance of staying up like we do?

Which I imagine most would find more than acceptable.
Babylon Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Why is it that if you are critical of Pearson, that the basis of your criticism must be a personal dislike? why is this levelled all the time? Because sometimes it's the only way of understanding the hatred people have had of him since he arrived. Many of those moaning has been criticial since he arrived and have written him off time and time again. And if this is the case, why do so many people who brand this criticism also flatly refuse to credit Sean Dyche, frankly laughing at his media work and management at times when he has achieved the same goal from the chamionship of promotion, and has a fighting chance of staying up like we do? Could you point out where people have said anything bad about his management? The weird shit that pops out of his mouth sometimes, yes... his management, no.
benpicko Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Keep him either way and hope that he sorts the defence and midfield out next time
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 If that was to happen next season nobody would be complaining. Stupid post If only you were right, but you're not. There'd be people on here, and you know full well there would, who would say, after a little wobble, 'we need to keep the momentum going, Nigel has took us as far as he can now, I've never liked him as I've said before, but let's be realistic, if we want Champions League football Nigel has to go' completely hypothetical and obviously won't happen but just highlighting how some fans have had it in for him since day 1 and literally nothing he has done or ever will do will change their mind about him.
Dan Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 He lost me after the Hull game but he's winning me back. He's displaying a lot of what's been missing this season in the last two, arguably three games.
Gerard Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Sorry, but that point isn't even arguable. What isn't debatable is we're bottom of the Premiership.

Well how good our squad might be is debatable. What isn't debatable is we're bottom of the Premiership. What else isn't debatable is our form is better than all the teams directly above us and we have the momentum going in to crunch time.

It would be an absolute stupid tiny minority. Probably on par with the same people who still believe the Earth is flat. In a sample size of thousands there will always be some unhappy even if we had a team like Barcelona's under Guardiola but don't dare say it would be the opinion of a sizable minority because it's simply not true and you've completely made this argument up to reinforce your own point.
Babylon Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Well how good our squad might be is debatable. Well considering we're bottom and few of them have ever played at a higher level than we currently are the debate would be very short. What isn't debatable is we're bottom of the Premiership. That wasn't even being debated.
Gerard Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 What else isn't debatable is our form is better than all the teams directly above us and we have the momentum going in to crunch time. We've won our last two games and are still bottom of the league. To ridicule anyone who has the audacity to question Pearson's position is arrogance in the extreme.
Staffs Fox Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 I'd keep him regardless of what division we're in, If we stay up it's the single greatest escape in PL history and Pearson and the players deserve the biggest amount of praise for it (whether we should have been in that position in the first place is a different matter), If we're relegated, I believe he's the best man to get us promoted again, there's realisitically nobody better out there in my opinion. We've stuck with him so far, it'd be foolish to change
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 I don't ridicule anyone and everyone who questions Pearson, just the ones who want to see the back of him regardless of how well he does or doesn't do his job. Of which there are plenty, as you and everyone else knows.
Babylon Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Survive and he gets the chance, go down fighting and he might get a chance at the league below. Go out with a whimper and he might be on his way.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Well how good our squad might be is debatable. What isn't debatable is we're bottom of the Premiership. THIS PEARSON IS BRILLIANT - WE ARE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE, AND HAVE BEEN FOR MONTHS!
fuchsntf Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 At present the vote seems, to be averaging out for the base descision to go or stay... Ca 15% GO........ ca 85% STAY Obviously we cant be sure what the other 25-30k fans think .

It would be interesting to see whether views given on this forum are in any way representative of the City fanbase per se. Without knowing (of course) I'd suggest the figures given on here are very skewed in favour of Pearson staying vis a vis the general population of City faithful.

Get your pen n board out, mix with the politicians asking for opinions and votes on the street. Go in under the Radar, and suprise the Leicester public, with 'The Pearson' question, then set up your own ballot box. Pearson might confuse the issue, and sit at nr 10, and we get Milibrand as manager.
Dan Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Just playing Devil Advocate and saying look no further than Nigel Adkins and Southampton (Yes, he was sacked before the end of the season but it was likely he'd keep them up anyway). It's a good point but that was only done because they had Pocchetino lined up. If we have someone who we believe to be at his level lined up then by all means go for it. Will that be the case? Almost certainly not.
Dan Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Stay whatever. He's showing serious signs again of rectifying his mistakes and finding a way to win matches, to do so is not only a serious sign of ability, self-reflection and self-motivation but at the current time also a sign of being able to do so under some severe pressure. For a young manager even more impressive. He must be a really good boss to work for as well, I can't think of many other managers that would still have been able to install the belief into the players that he has despite being bottom all season, on the wrong end of so many bad pieces of luck or iffy decisions whilst being cut adrift to the tune of 7,8,9 points at times. While he's in charge of this football club I know the players will care about the shirt they are wearing and will run their arse off for our cause, that's something that's extremely important to me as a supporter and when you see teams like Man City, Sunderland and Newcastle whose players don't seem to give a shit you realise just how hard that is to achieve in this day and age. I worry about the sanity of people who think he should be dismissed if we stay up, this is a man who seems to ne able to learn from his mistakes and take us to a new level every time he looks in trouble. Nailed as usual. If he comes back and keeps us up from here, and that's very probable now, then it's probably his greatest achievement in management yet even if it was largely down to a lot of his own awful decisions. It's been a huge learning curve for him and if he's finally displaying that he's learning, then for me he stays.
sylofox Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 As I have said all along even if we go down as long as we make a fight of it keep him. I still think he is our best option to come back up. Had we been down by now then yes he would have to go. As some of us have said all along we can do this.
Raj Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Completely lost me in mid march,I'd given up. Last 2 games have shown what could have been if we use players like vardy in their right position so running at defenders Why this hasn't happened most of the season only nice knows. But if he keeps us up he deserves to gave another go,even if we go down fighting I'd give him a chance in cchip..only if we whimpered out I'd have said thanks for everything but got rid
