Lack of Asian fans

Recommended Posts

They prefer cricket but not many seem to support Leicestershire, the vast majority support their parents/grandparents nations as well over their own.

True, the fookers support a nation full of filth and degradation. They would watch a sport that no ordinary person could watch in nations where more funding is given to the sport then given clean water, what a shame!

Asians and Rugby will NEVER work, unless something drastic happens!

I played with quite a few Asian lads down at Oadby Wyggs, I'm not sure if it's the sport or the club or the rest of the lads I played with but there was never an issue. Not sure why you'd think that it would never 'work'.

If it's their choice then fair enough but there's no reason why it doesn't work. Rugby clubs on the whole are one of the most accepting, friendly and welcoming groups that I've ever associated with. It's a fantastic community that would be happy to have more Asian people involved.

I myself am half sikh-half english but cannot attend games as i live in Canada. My mum was born and raised in Leicester whereas my dad moved to Leicester as a 4year old from Punjab and was raised there.

Myself and my older brother were born there but came to canada as young children. My dad has always been an LCFC supporter (from a teen in the mid 60s) since.

I know back then indian folks definitely stayed away from going to games for many reasons but i would like to think thats changed drastically(maybe not?).

Myself, my elder brother as well as my 2 younger brothers are all big time Leicester fans. All of dads brothers are leciester fans aswell but we all live here now.

I do see some of my younger cousins hop on the chelsea/Liverpool/arsenal/manu bandwagon but thats more so because you dont see lcfc on tele over here especially if they are not in the prem league.

Obviously with streaming and being in the prem league we get to see leicester games more often.

My elder brother moved back to england a few years ago so inknow he tries to go more often but doesnt live in leicester so its hard to get down there. I was in town back in august and we got to see the everton match. Even made it on lcfc.com in one of the pics lol.

I suspect that football in the uk is becoming just like nba or nhl or mlb over here in noth america. Kids support teams with the kobe's or lebron's or crosby or derek jeters etc. Its a popularity contest.

Id suspect that even in the so called "white" demographic in england you are seeing people living in one town but supporting another team.

Raj, Singh is King where you at lads?

Raj isn't is Singh he, from what he told me several years ago is Radhasoami

I know Indians/Pakistanis tend to prefer cricket but what kind of gates does Grace Road get? I think it's a market that City, Tigers and LCCC are not getting much of.

i think the club should provide free tickets for asian fans so we can get more of them in the stands.

Sorry mate, just think that is so fvckin patronising.

Each year there seem to be more Asians at City. Quite a few Chinese/Korean too around me in the East Stand, who I think are students.

They seem as enthusiastic as anyone else and loving the atmosphere. I have not heard any racist talk either.

Times change and good to see an integrated crowd, the team has been integrated for years.

If you want to see an all white crowd then watch the Tigers, very rare to see a non white face at Welford Road.

From my perspective, were too busy, getting drunk at the bar

I don't think he was serious, but I agree with his thoughts

Really? In that case I think we should also provide free tickets for the Chinese, Polish, Americans, Dutch, Danes and Swedish, You know, 'them'.

This is very true Jatt there are ****ing glory seekers everywhere.

I remember as a kid one white lad wearing a Blackburn Rovers top because they had just won the League. Wonder if he still supports them now. One white lad wore a Man Utd top, the following year Liverpool and Arsenal the year after. What can you say?

I bet none of them have ever been to a live game.

What folks me off, is the word of Asian, WTF is Asian mentality, your making statements for a continent, to be fair I would say that if you mentioned Indian, that place is cooking continent the foooking gujratis are well different to the Punjabi's, in fact the within Punjab the banaya are well different to the sikhs.

So don't insult the likes of me and state who the foook younr talking about

I understand where your coming from, and understand the frustration of "Asians" being generalised, and pigeonholed.

I do think though, in this case the question on the larger region of Asia with all of its diverse countries and a large meltingpot of nations, who all tend to take world football to their hearts and everyday life, no matter how far they are away from the core.

That from the westernly to the far eastern shores, it suprises me that more individual players are not getting through to play at the highest of levels, whether its playing in S.America, Russian or the modern USA leagues, let alone the western european leagues.

Japan, S.Korea just 2 examples who have recently produced not one but 6-7 top class players.

Indians Pakistanis, Nepalese, have higher priority sports, but after Generations (60+ yrs) of all Asian migrants to Europe and S .America, that only a few players, have come to the fore.

ENGLAND , France, Portugal, I really expected by now over my lifetime 61+, to have seen more, " Asian" players

Cricket in England, and lack of players of Indian, Pakistani descent, have not been chosen to represent the country of birth.

The pussyfooting of/over ..Adil Rashid a player who should by now have played at least 20 times for England a fine example.

I am sure that Australia and New Zealand also have the same selection comittee Issues.

I was not meant to get this into a racial talk. I was talking about "Asians" as that's what the OP was talking about. I was just telling you about my experiences as a Leicester fan. I'm British, I'm Indian and Asian at the same time. All I know and care about is I am blue da ba de daba do daba de!!!

So the moral of this thread is to make sure you ask each individual of their "proper" ethnicity!!!

Scuse me mate just so I don't offend people on foxestalk are you Sikh,Hindu,Gujarati,Pakistani,Sri Lankan etc...

Oh and white folk....Excuse me mate are you- English,Scottish, welsh, polish, Lithuanian etc cos you all look the same to me!!! lol...Enjoy the Summer...I'll be back when football returns!!!!

There's loads of Asians around where we sit in C block. Noticeably more since promotion. Seem good lads have a beer at half time and always chat with us about the game.

I've supported Leicester all my life, i do agree with most comments in that there isnt many asian fans in the ground, but yea this is increase albeit slowly. Growing up most of my friends were Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal fans. Some have had it instilled from fathers etc, some have always seen Utd at the top and so followed thw crowd in supporting a successful club at the time. I will definitely be making sure that my children support the foxes, and hope this continues fo generations to come.
