The problem is they train a few guys at each store how to fit stuff but they can't cover the whole car market or really do anything in depth, also they aren't paid much to do the work and generally aren't all that motivated, you may get lucky and find they do an ok job but it's not worth the risk, I'd pay a bit more and get a professional fitter if I couldn't do it myself.

Yep. For someone to learn enough to be competent at everything they'd need years of experience. Halfords really should invest in doing what they can to keep their guys for more than a few years.

Evening chaps. Got a video. I've not set it up correctly as the time is +4 hours. This was 07:00 this morning. Also, I need to set it so my speed displays. Please bear in mind that the camera isn't attached to the windscreen properly. In true Mickey O'Neil Pikey style, I used an elastic band to hold it on my rearview mirror!!!!!

The cyclist and van were having a bit of a set-to!

I think the quality is more than acceptable for £47 delivered. Also, It's very compact which i wanted. You could look at the ones in Halfrauds to see how big they are.

I'm always wary of customs charges when buying from China, who did you buy from?

Looks like a good camera that. Well worth what you paid for it. It's tempted me into wanting one.

Very good picture for £47, I love modern tech and how cheap it can be had. Also forgot how deserted town is at 7am

:D  :D  :D

I'm not sure why because 99% of them say it's a 'Gift" worth $8!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, we found a truthful dealer in the fact that they declared the £47 value so we did pay a small amount of VAT. There was no customs charge though as they came in under £135.

Bought from here:

Good quality, Mickey. Thanks for uploading.

Is the only way to use it 'properly' to stick it on the windscreen? If you don't, and you don't want to use a rubber band lol, how else can it be used?

Looking at the link it comes with a "Double sided tape mount" or something like that. So you stick it to your window... how long said sticky lasts is another thing I'd guess.

As for how else it can be used... I'm considering strapping it to my head (not that one) so I know what I get up to after about 5 pints when my memory completely goes (seriously shit memory when drinking).

Yes it does come with that double sided mount as that's one of my specific requirements. I find the sucker mounts way too big...absolutely massive. Each to their own though. I don't mind buying a set of 3M sticky pads when this gives up the ghost. In all honesty, I'm not planning on taking it out of the car...more of a set-and-forgetitem for me. Just useful for wen that cock slams on his brakes hoping you'll rear-end him for ££££

But does it record what's going on in the boot?

If I'm ever getting caught I don't want to give the cops a helping hand.

Bought a new motor recently (well, it's a year old, so new-ish) and I've been thinking of installing a dashcam.

Has anyone got one, is it worth the money, are they a magnet for thieves?

Ideally I'd like a discreet one which I don't have to take in and out every time I drive.

PS It's my first ever diesel - haven't managed to fill it with unleaded yet but I'm sure I'll fook up at some point.

It's bloody expensive (c.250 quid) but the Garmin Nuvicam looks the dogs.

If you want probably the best sat nav available with a built in cam to record the journey (and to take off if you need to video at the scene of an accident) it looks to have pretty much everything. Hands free phone, blue tooth speaker etc.
