Freesolo Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Mr Clean Sebastian Coe broke the 800m world record in 1981 and held onto in for 16 years till 1997 to me this seems impossible to hold it for so long clean (without doping). I have always thought that coe had Blood doped to set a time that took 16 years to break, by blood doping i mean training at altitude getting his red blood cells up close to the 50% mark then taking out a bag or two say two pints over a few weeks. Then before the race at sea level gradually add some blood the do a complete transfusion the night before his WR race boosting his red blood cells into the 50% range.I could be wrong but feel it would take a freak of nature to set a time that couldn't be broken for so long so I will give you my reasons why I think he cheated. The record was not broken until 1997 in the early to late 90s it was the EPO era there was no test for EPO at that time, Lots of Kenyans and Ethiopians are known to have cheated during this time yet they couldn't break it, It seems strange considering what we know about the genetics of Kenyans who are born at altitude and run as soon as they can they own the middle distance on the track.Seb coe used to boast about having a low heart rate in the very low 30's i think. Its a known fact that this is dangerous and many cyclists have died from using EPO having high red blood cell counts their blood is thick they can have a heart attack or stroke in their sleep. Cyclists that have admitted using EPO have since told us they had to wear a heart monitor when they slept and if their heart rate dropped below a certain level a alarm would wake them up in the middle of the night they would get on a static bike in their room and call the team doctor so he could access the situation. Marco Pantani a world famous drug cheat and cyclist is known to take crazy risks and get his blood count into the 60% range as you can imagine he blew everyone away. What is your opinion on the matter if you have one? Do you not find it odd that a African using EPO couldn't break his record until 1997? even though drugs were available for several years before.
marko Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 I think you were meant to put "allegedly" in there somewhere to protect yourself.
Jimothy Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Florence Griffiths-Joyner holds the women's 100m world record since 1988, so 27 years. Jonathan Edwards has held the triple jump record since 1997. Were both these doping too? Just because a record stays unbroken for a while, doesn't mean it's dodgy. And you've only pick up on Coe because of today's news, Griffiths-Joyner's record has stood much longer.

I have serious doubts about the veracity of Flo-Jo's record, considering no one has even come close since and all the other sprint records have fallen since. Jump events are a bit different. Of course, no one will be able to prove anything so the discussion is moot, really.

FGJ is 100% dirty its common knowledge she doped, JE is a event that is very technical he is clean in my eyes
Freesolo Posted 19 August 2015 Author Posted 19 August 2015 Of course, no one will be able to prove anything so the discussion is moot, really. Of course like you said we cant prove anything but I love athletics and I always thought his record was shady

You only had to look at her to think that something wasn't quite right. I wouldn't have been surprised if she'd got a cock.
Freesolo Posted 19 August 2015 Author Posted 19 August 2015 well he is a tory so.... Lets leave politics out of sport

So the 90s was the EPO era, and yet his record wasn't broken until 97. If he was cheating then he must of also been a phenomenal athlete for no one in the EPO era to be able to break his record

Freesolo Posted 19 August 2015 Author Posted 19 August 2015 I also forgot to add that he is still the fastest Non - African 800m athlete which is a 34 year record
Freesolo Posted 19 August 2015 Author Posted 19 August 2015 Bob Beamon, looked bent to me; allegedly. Was a freaky jump, but Mike Powell broke that
MPH Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Mate you hit the nail on the head that is exactly my point why i feel he was doping I'm not convinced he was but I'm not ruling the idea out. It's just a shame really as I thought at last we as in the British were finally good at something! Middle distance running!
Nalis Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 They should have a seperate Olympics where anything goes on performance enhancing drugs. The people want to see some freaking shit like 100m ran in under 5 seconds.

Athletics is a bit boring to me, but get Usain Bolt on performance enhancing drugs (or cocaine, either is fine) and I'd watch the shit out of that. 100m in 1 second, see if we can break the fabric of time? yes please.

Yeah, but you're from Corby so you are predispositioned to be suspicious of success.
Freesolo Posted 19 August 2015 Author Posted 19 August 2015 Yeah, but you're from Corby so you are predispositioned to be suspicious of success. I don't know what that even means pal?
The Railway Man Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Bolt as well, it's impossible for one man to be that far ahead of the human race. It could never get out though, it would kill the sport.
BoneDog Posted 20 August 2015 Posted 20 August 2015 Wouldn't put it past Coe from what I've heard. All I'll say is a work friend of mine once overheard Coe talking to Hague and Boris at a conference. Saw mate after, white as a ghost, and his first words were, "Satan has spawned".
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 20 August 2015 Posted 20 August 2015 I really do believe if you win world athletics events, never mind set world records, you are almost 100% doping, because almost always you find out, if not the winner, then 5 or 6 of the 7 people who were beaten were doping. Justin Gatlin is running faster than he's ever run after having 2 bans for doping etc. They're absolutely all at it imo, you just wouldn't be competitive otherwise, should just let them all do it until they burst and see who's fastest, wouldn't be much different to now.
