Domsdad Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Just a thought. With our great form towards the end of last season, it has occurred to me that teams have looked at this and followed our lead. You only have to look at the number of away wins and teams playing on the counter to see this. Think of West Ham until last night winning both their away matches and not their home games, Swansea beating Chelsea away is another example. I'm not saying teams should just set up to win away, but it seems teams like us, Swansea, West Ham, Bournemouth, Palace etc are no longer afraid to attack the bigger teams be it home or away. Look at the league table.

lcfcsnow Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 We don't perform anything like we can away from home though?
Unabomber Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 We don't perform anything like we can away from home though? Where you been pal
One Legged Beaver Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 It seems like Manchester United and Liverpool are copying our October-March style.
Westerby Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Swansea drew away at Chelsea. It possibly FELT like a win!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 Palace started doing it before us last season.

Izzy Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 We're just doing what the Dutch National team did 40 years ago. Nothing new in football! Â

foxes_rule1978 Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 They should copy if they actually want to start winning games in Europe
Hollism Posted 15 September 2015 Posted 15 September 2015 I think you're right in that 'lesser' teams aren't as afraid of the big boys as much as they were before a few years ago. I don't see much in the argument that this is down to is though. Certainly not any more than Swansea, Stoke, Southampton, etc.
J.Lisemore Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Some of the old school sliding tackles in that video are brilliant
st albans fox Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Pace has become the most important factor if you want to get results against the more technical teams. You bottle up the midfield and then break. Either they take their chance (as arsenal are likely to) or they adjust their set up to defend deeper which stretches the pitch and makes their possession less effective as much of it is too far away from the final third. Would be interesting to see a less technical side like us or palace in the European competitions.
Number 6 Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Think there's still an obsession elsewhere with the boring, dull, passing game. Apparently possession is king although we don't seem to be playing along. Love our approach. It's not new but it's working so well. We had the squad to make it work and subsequent buys have only reinforced our style (excluding Kram maybe).
