Dan Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I can see both sides of it. I do think it does seem daft to pay it and then protest about it (although I understand it isn't aimed specifically at Norwich (though they are a huge offender)) but the alternative is nothing happens, our end sells out anyway and on we move. They don't need the money. Every single club in the Premier League could make every match ticket £25 and it would be like a drop in the ocean to them.
Dan Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 It won't work, and i'm usually an optimist. The only way you will reduce prices is via mass boycott. Which you and me both know is about as possible as Sunderland winning the Premier League this season. It's too much of a mess to fully recover. Compromise is all we want.
C-man Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Doing nothing is not an option for me. For generations we've sat back and watched whilst opportunists have sapped much of the life out of the game, scared to comment in case it upsets the HSG, the police, the Premier League and other fans who are happy to rid the game of low income individuals and families. I'm completely fed up with the apathy that pervades our game. I'm just glad some people care enough to do something, even if it's not an ideal solution.
GaelicFox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 its sounding like a scene from The life of Brian !!!! Anglian warrior "Who protests ?" Fosse Roman " we protest at the cost of being here to protest , it is too high the charge for this protest" Anglian warrior " so you paid to be here protesting about the cost of protesting at this protest ?" Fosse Roman "that's right this is a protest we have paid to hold at the cost of protesting in this protest" Anglian warrior "daft fookers we had your 45 sheckles so protest about the cost of protesting all you want" Fosse Roman "ohhh right is thats your attitude ......WE PROTEST " Anglain Warrior ........has left with the 45 sheckles to have a pint and Delia ham pie and laugh at the silly Fosse Romans
Soar Fox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 It won't work, and i'm usually an optimist. The only way you will reduce prices is via mass boycott. I agree with you. But we both know it would never happen as they'll always be people willing to buy the tickets. You only have to look in the Arsenal thread and the Bournemouth away thread people are willing to spend silly money to get a ticket. It's a shame though as ticket prices in this country are a joke.
C-man Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Norwich charging Arsenal fans £60 for their trip to Carrow Road.
AndWhat? Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Norwich charging Arsenal fans £60 for their trip to Carrow Road. Imagine paying that for Norwich away
Dr The Singh Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Norwich charging Arsenal fans £60 for their trip to Carrow Road Is that to pay for Delia's now recipe book!! £35 is bad, I hope the protest goes well and make people think twice!!
CharlieCharles Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 where is this, anywhere near the station?
Weller in Tights Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 You can pay the fee and still protest, of course you can. Emily Davison was one of the most famous and successful protesters in history but she had to attend the Epsom Derby and pay her fee before she chucked herself at the King's horse. And I'm sure no Leicester fan is going to do anything as heroically symbolic as that, but parting with your money for a cause you disagree with has never invalidated your voice. You can catch a bus run by a private company to protest against Capitalism, you can wear a t-shirt made in China and protest against globalism or, if you like, you can shop in the Polish foods section at Asda and not support immigration. But in this case, while some people might favour a different method of protest, I can't think why anyone wouldn't wish to get behind you. And there's something incredibly sad about people saying 'don't bother protesting, it won't work'. Quite apart from the millions of occasions when it has throughout history, it's that sentiment which tends to stop protests which have widespread popular support from working. If you agree, get behind it. Well said
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Imagine paying that for Norwich away Don't worry mate, the way things are going you won't have to imagine it in a few years time.
cambridgefox Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Greedy club and their own fans suffer. Made Stoke category A ,charging casual home fans £46.50! I admit wages go up but ALL CLUBS IN THE TOP FLIGHT HAVE RECEIVED THE MOST LUCRATIVE DEAL IN HISTORY .Next year will be frightening. These rises are a drop in the ocean for the clubs with the extra revenue but a lot less affordable for the fans.
suffolk fox Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Im all for the protest But I find it ironic that it is at Bloody Norwich. A club by the way that has the audacity to charge City Fans £45 to watch this game. Our own owners have subsidised the price by a tenner hence we are paying £35. People moan about paying £50 to watch London clubs but that is London where you can pay up to £7.50 for a pint of luke warm pee that resembles beer in the West End. Norwich and Delia Smith are the ones taking the piss here and perhaps the protest should be against them.
old koppite Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Norwich aren't bothered. If the away fan allocation wasn't purchased , they'd sell them to their own fans as they sell out every league game at home and have done so for a few years now.

It's come out of the Away Supporters' Initiative fund that they are obligated to use. It's a fund that's effectively becoming a con.

Guest Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 I'd feel far too much of a hypocrite to endorse a protest given I've bought a ticket.
C-man Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 I'd feel far too much of a hypocrite to endorse a protest given I've bought a ticket. Again, you do realise this is a national protest against ticket pricing in general rather than directly at Norwich and it would still be happening if tickets were £20?
Ashley Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 Who has the Leicester fans say twenty is plenty banner??
C-man Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 Who has the Leicester fans say twenty is plenty banner?? I do, mate. You joining us?
Dan Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 Burnley fans being charged £41 for Blackburn. This country really is so out of touch with the fans it's unreal. Two traditionally working class, lower income, small towns and they're charging £41. ****ing scandalous. It stretches way beyond the Premier League.

They'll sell out though, that's the problem.
