MooseBreath Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 Only feels like yesterday we were discussing this. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/80110-syria-what-happens-next/?p=2713741 Well you were very wrong about "prices skyrocketing". Personally I think this whole war for oil theory is a load of hogwash, it doesn't make any sense considering how little of our oil actually comes from the middle East and how many cheaper options there would be to maintain supply without going to war in the region. I'm sure there is plenty of politics going on with Russia and their gas industry but I don't agree that uk/us involvement in the middle east has anything to do with oil or gas.
Vlad the Fox Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 Anti-war protest outside the Russian embassy. Two cars reversing into each other at high speed, it'll **** their heads up.

thursday_next Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 I'm broadly speaking in line with Russia's foreign policy, which I think is unfairly maligned, but it makes me a bit sad that they can't get cruise missiles to land in the right country. I thought the whole point of cruise missiles was that they're unbelievably accurate, and that they don't hit Iran on the way to somewhere else. Israel must be nervous, and possibly Sweden too.
johnny the fox Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Looks like they have spunked on iran... ha ha..
Wymsey Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Trying to invade/destroy everywhere, aren't they? Just funny about the amount of times their military planes have been intercepted in other foreign airspace.
thursday_next Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Not to mention mh-17. Bad Tinkerman, Putin .
Collymore Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 The Syrian cris is like the end of the good the bad and the ugly.
thursday_next Posted 8 October 2015 Posted 8 October 2015 Haha . How about 'The Battle Of The Five Armies', featuring Islamic State as the Orcs (everybody's after them, and they don't care), the Men (Russia), Thorin Oakenshield as Assad (he's not giving up his treasure, no way), and the Elves of America, who are that haughty they can't believe they don't control the skies everywhere. The rebel fighters are the Eagles, being shot at by three other armies and getting pretty fed up about it. David Cameron is Bilbo Baggins who thinks he is Smaug.
Fox92 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Not sure where to stick this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34805924 There is a "high degree of certainty" that he [Jihadi John] was hit in the attack near Raqqa, in Syria, according to a senior military source. Not Russia though. Just waiting to see what the Pentagon say I guess that's important before it's reported everywhere...
bovril Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Worst thing about these cvnts is that they actually look forward to death, although I like to think there is a split second where it dawns on them that everything they believe is wrong.
Darkon84 Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Haven't Russia smashed about 400 targets in the last few weeks, and here we are pussyfooting around after one guy just so we can end up with a decent headline. I'd much rather we hit as many targets as possible.
The Railway Man Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Has Jeremy Corbyn expressed his condolences yet?
leicsmac Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Has Jeremy Corbyn expressed his condolences yet? Nice strawman. You build it yourself? You must be very proud. On the topic itself I'm rather hoping the little death-worshipping fascist has been severely wounded and has to live for the next fifty odd years with no eyes and no legs rather than pure dead, but that's me.
Guest MattP Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Has Jeremy Corbyn expressed his condolences yet? I doubt even he would be that daft, Natalie Bennett might though given her comments last time about the strikes on British Jihadis.

Same here. But in war No one wins. There are always innocent casualties on all sides. That is what is wrong. War should never be glorified. All lifeforms are merely temporary Inhabitants of planet Earth Man's time a millisecond hidden In the vastness of space. Yet innocents still suffer Needlessly again and again In war; No one wins.
Wymsey Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 It's fine killing these people, but it would be better if they were somehow captured and questioned personally.

All lifeforms are merely temporary Inhabitants of planet Earth Man's time a millisecond hidden In the vastness of space. Yet innocents still suffer Needlessly again and again In war; No one wins. There have always been winners and losers in war (believe me your life would be far different had we not won WW2), civilisations that haven't been able to defend themselves have ceased to exist, the winners of wars have often gone on to have glorious reigns and effected humanity to a far greater extent than those who they defeated. If we don't win the war against ISIS then anyone but extreme Sunni Muslims won't exist in the Middle East in fifty years. Whether you think that's a war worth fighting is up for debate, but to say there are no winners just ignores history in favour of blind pacifism.
Rincewind Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 It's fine killing these people, but it would be better if they were somehow captured and questioned personally. And a certain person was criticised for saying that just because he was a certain person.

One glance at Twitter though and you regrettably see the Corbynistas all desperate for an excuse for him, radicalised by the racist British security services, his death a cold blooded murder and those who sanctioned it called to be tried for war crimes Not JC's fault of course, but it seems that a fair portion of the people who surround him really are a vile set of lunatics. It's interesting how those who screamed for years that the racists in UKIP were there because of Farage's language now seem to take a completely different approach to some of those who have joined Labour because of Corbyn's language.

Are we using Twitter as a barometer of political feeling now then? And if we are, is it really a bastion of left wing opinion? First and last letter right, middle letters wrong for your website in that regard Matt. I'm pretty sure that Corbyn does have some people who identify as hard left in his company, just like Farage had when running UKIP. But my point is with Corbyn and Corbyn alone and the post above was a ridiculous strawman that deserved ridicule.
Guest MattP Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Yes Twitter is definitely a bastion of left wing opinion; Labour actually won the General Election vote on there. Did you not listen to Camerons speech at the conference? He made a point of saying "the views of Twitter are not those of Britain" in it.
Guest MattP Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 Let's be honest, you can bet your arse Corbyn will make sure he makes the point of saying he'd rather have seen Jihadi John in court rather than dead. And it's that sort of thinking that is why he'll never be elected, people don't like politicians who live Iin fantasy world's.
