Guest Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Sitting in the kind of seats they have in football stadia for prolonged periods of time is really, genuinely uncomfortable for me. It's horrible isn't it. Sat down for a rest at HT a couples of times in recent seasons on away days and I can only assume the grounds were built with people about 4 foot 6 tall and complete waifs in mind.
Stevosevic Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Most premier league clubs don't have the problem of people sitting in away ends. And it doesn't happen at all our games, West Ham for example.

Guest Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Oh right Didn't look like it on TV or the pictures on twitter of the away end Was a front section near corner flag. I'll see if I can dig up a photo. Not that it's of huge importance of course.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 How many invalids support us? It's never an excuse for the clubs who have 100% standing ends. Out of 3,000 I doubt there's any more than about 3 who physically can't stand for 45 minutes at a time. ... What? What the ****? You don't have to be crippled and wheelchair bound to struggle (or even not be comfortable) standing for ninety minutes.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 I'm with Soup Nazi, if my only option at the game was to sit then I would rather leave and watch Soccer Saturday down the pub. .. what?! Calling bullshit straight away. Nevermind being able to watch the whole game played out in front of you, nevermind being able to cheer and applaud your team, you just can't get enough of... STANDING UP! God I ****ing love standing. No sofas in my living room, we all stand and watch the telly. I don't eat at restaurants, too much sitting around, I just go to McDonald's and stand. Are you a football fan or a standing up fan?! I know I'm being a dick but seriously.

Rob1742 Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 You are able to, just buy a ticket at the front you prat. Frankly though , I don't care what anyone says if you buy an away ticket it should be with the intention to stand. Away ends with people sitting are absolutely pathetic. Standing is the whole bloody point of going to an away game. If you're not there to be part of the away day atmosphere then you've got the wrong attitude. People are just fvcking awkward and stubborn. Prat - don't think I am the prat for buying a seat ticket and wanting to sit in it.

AndWhat? Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Can't be that committed a fan then Yeah, just a season ticket holder with a 500 round mile trip. Not committed at all.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 I get being in to fan culture, enjoying standing and singing and all of that. But surely the main event, the thing we're all there for, is the sport? I completely understand that you would rather stand and you enjoy it, big time. But you'd go from loving the occasion to hating it purely if you had to sit? It's just alien to me is all. The thing that stops me singing more than anything else is usually just being so engrossed in what's happening on the pitch. I get so consumed by what's happening I completely zone out of what's going on around me. Different strokes I suppose. Like I said, I accept I was being a dick for the sakes of taking the piss. Still weird to me though.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Yeah, just a season ticket holder with a 500 round mile trip. Not committed at all. But you wouldn't bother if you had to sit? So surely you travelled five hundred miles to stand and sing not watch a sport? You know you could just join a choir?
Rob1742 Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Never had much trouble with sitters, but have done with standers on many occasion, hence the need for football to sort the issue out. Saturday's standers problem revolved around a young lad agreeing to meet this old hoolie in the bog at half time to supply him drugs. Then the young supplier told the old hoolie how he got filled in at the last match. Not a great environment for my young lad, hence the need to have separate seats and standing. In my experience you tend to have a better chance of avoiding the scum bags if you are with the sitters
Voll Blau Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 This hasn't all been kicked off by a couple of comments I saw on Twitter during MOTD last night from fans of other clubs having a go at us because we weren't all standing has it? What does it matter? We're Leicester City we do what we want! Yeah, that's the most Watford response to anything I've ever seen.
AndWhat? Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 But you wouldn't bother if you had to sit? So surely you travelled five hundred miles to stand and sing not watch a sport? You know you could just join a choir? Yep pretty much, I wouldn't bother if I had to sit. The atmosphere is the number 1 reason why I go to the football, clearly wouldn't get that from a choir. It's quite obvious that we are different types of fans, one difference being I don't lambaste anyone for being different to me like you tend to do quite regularly.
Finnegan Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 No, no, don't get me wrong. I'm by no means saying my way is the correct way. You're entitled to your likes and dislikes. I just find it odd.
C-man Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 But you wouldn't bother if you had to sit? So surely you travelled five hundred miles to stand and sing not watch a sport? You know you could just join a choir? Come on mate you're being deliberately obtuse here - plenty of people will agree that the actual sport is less important than going to enjoy and hopefully contribute to the atmosphere, going to make and meet friends, have a day out from the missus/kids etc.I think the last time I sat at a football ground was the Burton cup game we lost. I found it a plain weird, boring experience. I hated the feeling that I wasn't doing anything to help the team. At least when standing and singing, I feel comfortable (being 6'3' doesn't help) and felt as though I was doing my bit for the lads. The day I can no longer stand and support the team with my mates will be the day I leave it to my kids I reckon. EDIT: final paragraph is not meant as an indirect critique of anyone who struggles to stand, sing by the way. Just a personal view that I don't think I'd enjoy it as much based on personal experience to date.
Christoph Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 I was close to the front ar Southampton (g row) and lots of people were standing up all game.

FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 It's amazing, and I do mean I am genuinely amazed, at the fact that it seems people travel 500 miles, pay £34, spend God knows what else kind of money on top of that all to go to a football match.... where their top priority isn't to watch football, but to stand up
Voll Blau Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 If people can believe others can have their enjoyment ruined by having to stand up, why is it so hard to believe the same can apply to people who are forced to sit down?
Sir Fynwy Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 If people can believe others can have their enjoyment ruined by having to stand up, why is it so hard to believe the same can apply to people who are forced to sit down? Playing devils advocate standers block the view of sitters, sitters don't stop anyone from enjoying the game
AndWhat? Posted 19 October 2015 Posted 19 October 2015 Playing devils advocate standers block the view of sitters, sitters don't stop anyone from enjoying the game As I've said before the atmosphere is what I enjoy most about the football and having to sit down ruins that for me. It seems I am not alone in that as well A stander standing in front of a sitter ruins it for the sitter by blocking the game. A sitter ruins it for a stander by making him sit and therefore blocking the atmosphere.

I've traveled over to Europe on many occasions just for atmospheres.
