Standing away from home

Imagine viewing this thread as a fan of another team. Fans who like to stand and sing being to to "join a choir" and people involved in active fans groups being called "not very commited".

Brilliant lads, great work.

If people can believe others can have their enjoyment ruined by having to stand up, why is it so hard to believe the same can apply to people who are forced to sit down?

Wtf lol lol lol lol lol

If everyone is standing in front of you and you can't stand... you probably can't SEE.

****ing hell.

Like I said, I'm genuinely not saying my way is the only way but come on, arguments like that REALLY aren't helping you. Even you've got to admit that was a pretty daft point mate.

Ohhh and to think they may even label us as 'tinpot'

Erm, have I?

The point I made was in response to those suggesting people only go to football to stand up. Making a counter-suggestion that people only go to the football to sit down would be pretty retarded, as that's clearly not the case. It's not daft though to say people have their enjoyment of the match impeded (on some level) by being forced to sit down, as plenty of anecdotal evidence on this thread proves. A common sense solution is needed to provide for both parties.

It's amazing, and I do mean I am genuinely amazed, at the fact that it seems people travel 500 miles, pay £34, spend God knows what else kind of money on top of that all to go to a football match.... where their top priority isn't to watch football, but to stand up

I'm sure his top priority is to actually and actively SUPPORT the team, of which standing is a by-product. It's not that hard to understand.

If you're going to bring money into it, the point could easily be reversed... Why spend all that money on tickets, travel etc if the only priority is to watch the football? Just find a stream and watch it for free?

You might consider that a stupid, flawed and simplified argument but there's been plenty of those already in this thread so chalk another one up if so.

So in the dark days when atmosphere was non existent at games why were folk still going? And those that only go for atmosphere according to this thread would have been non existent. Great support that, sing when your winning springs to mind.

This thread is a right treat, Basically if you stand you are automatically a crack head and if you sit down it is because you just want to be a c unt lol welcome to foxestalk.

Genuinely have no idea what point you are trying to make but I'm sure it's irrelevant. There's nothing anyone can do about that period whenever it was now. What people can do is make every effort to ensure that atmospheres going forward are better.

If you'd rather sit in a morgue then whatever floats your boat, I'm just glad you won't be getting that at LCFC home games anymore.

Standers are taking this whole thing way too personally, people are reacting as if some guy having tired legs is an assault on their civil liberties.

It seems like some of you expect sitters to make concessions for you because you're clearly the more important, loyal fans which is just ridiculous.  Live and let live guys.

To be fair, there's a few putting their own personal view points across and then being slated because their opinion differs from 'the norm'. I think they have a right of reply but maybe it's time to leave it and close the thread.

People enjoy games for different reasons and in different ways but ultimately everyone should benefit from a good atmosphere - one that can be created whether you stand or sit.

.. lol what?! Calling bullshit straight away.

Nevermind being able to watch the whole game played out in front of you, nevermind being able to cheer and applaud your team, you just can't get enough of... STANDING UP!

God I ****ing love standing. No sofas in my living room, we all stand and watch the telly. I don't eat at restaurants, too much sitting around, I just go to McDonald's and stand.

Are you a football fan or a standing up fan?!

I know I'm being a dick but seriously.

I completely agree with him to be honest. The occasional games I've been forced to sit- Man City at home in the cup, chelsea away in the cup are two that immediately spring to mind- I completely lost the enjoyment of being at the game. It just doesn't feel right. I know ive said before that if L block ever became enforced with the seating issue I'd not go again. Indeed I only became a STH so I could go into L block and not be forced to sit. Horses for courses and all that

lol ... We must be the only fan base who analyses the rest of our fans.

I usually sit at home games and stand away. Can't remember the last time I sat away from home. But if I do sit it certainly doesn't ruin the game/atmosphere for me. I love going to football as a day and a small aspect isn't going to ruin that.

Standing and making an atmosphere are what makes a football match an event for me. If I had to sit through each game, whilst I would enjoy the football being played, it'd become a non-event for me.

Whether you can or cannot stand, misses the point. Everyone should have the option and respect the fact everyone is there to support the team in their own way.

If anyone wants to refer to disabled supporters, maybe you missed the BBC's report on this. It states there are high numbers at every club and to have the view expressed on here by a few, is discrimination.

We do have a higher percentage of older away fans than the top clubs, probably due to it being easier to get a ticket. If they're getting the ones at the front then they must be going to a lot, so fair play. Was an old boy on my row who was stood on Saturday to be fair to him.

Standing is the whole bloody point of going to an away game.

I thought the point was to follow your team and watch them play.

I enjoy standing, but feck me the militant standers don't have come across as massive ignorant bellends.

Yes I do.

I prefer to stand while at a football match and would it prefer it if others did so too.

Being upright is a more active stance than sitting. You're more likely to feel involved in the game if you stand up, more likely to participate in chants and celebrating goals feels more natural if you've been in an active rather than relaxed position all game. These are all things I want to experience and want my fellow supporters to experience with me. The difference between standing and sitting isn't trivial, both have a strong subconscious effect on how you feel about the game.

I expect fans who attend away games to stand up. Of course I make exceptions for those who find it difficult or who are simply unable to stand for a lengthy amount of time but for most people I think it's a very reasonable request.

Posted

Yes I do.

Yeah, almost as retarded as the people twisting others' words to make it sound as though standers don't care about their football team isn't it?

Who has done that then?

All I've seen is people point out how moronic it is to say the whole point of going to an away game is to stand. Like the whole football thing happening on the pitch isn't actually the reason people go.

If you struggle to stand then that's fair enough, but football is about passion and the fans and standing helps with that. Imagine what the atmosphere would be like at aways if everyone sits down, it wouldn't be worth going.
