Looking for a new job thread.

For those who are on the hunt for new job.

Started a new pastoral role at a secondary school in September. Was sold to me as a pastoral holistic careing role, but have been sold down the river big time with that. It is purely behavioural.

Seeing shocking feral behavour daily from some of our Roma Slovak cohort. The firefighting, pressure and unrelenting negative behavoiur is forecing me to look elsewhere.

Find looking for jobs very depressing and the issues that come with going for interviews and keeping/letting current employers know a struggle.

Anyone others out there looking for a change of job and career?

Got a job nearly two weeks ago, after looking for nearly 5 months (graduate and that) - personally believe it's a poor market for graduates, no matter what the media say.

Good luck, the number of companies looking at Apprenticeships is ever increasing.

Keep trying to tell myself to get a 'proper' job as mental health hindered by betting swings and piling on the pounds through inactivity. Not particularly well qualified (A-Levels achieved and 2 failed attempts at University) but I'm not afraid to do something basic work wise if I do go that route.

Seeing people regularly and getting into a routine would help I think.

Knowing full well I'll get shot down in flames, I'll say it anyway. 'Traditional' ways of looking for jobs can be depressing as the OP has stated. But few in my experience utilise their own network of friends and associates as a way of finding employment. I'm afraid the old saying 'it's not what you know, it's who you know' has some truth in my experience. It's not a case of approaching people saying 'gizza job' but more about finding out who they might know who could help. The term 'networking' gets a bad press and people turn thier nose up at the thought, but if you make the effort (as well as following traditional means) you could well stumble on the right job for you.

Since I left college a couple of years back, I've been in and out of work mainly down to the fact it's all been temp work. Currently out at the moment once again, but this is the longest gap I've had, five months.

Feel for you Baker, working a job you hate is infuriating.

I worked in a outgoing call centre a couple years ago and hated every single second of it.

I found a job online that was looking for someone with more qualifications than I have, but I phoned them and offered to do the job for 3 grand a year less just to get out of the call centre.

I've been here for nearly 2 years now and have had a couple of pay rises and now I'm on more than what was first advertised.
