ARM1968 Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 We don't know do we, but at the moment I think it would be unlikely. Owners would try to keep them I think. No boat rocking while we're sailing the lake of dreams.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I did notice that Steve Walsh wasn't on the big squad photo poster despite some absolute no-marks being in there. Read into that what you will. Like in the song - he's here, he's there, he's every f**king where apart from the squad photo, Stevie Walsh, Stevie Walsh.
sdb Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 If they're so loyal to NP then wouldn't they have left the club too, one way or another?
Corky Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 If they're so loyal to NP then wouldn't they have left the club too, one way or another? Not necessarily. Pearson didn't move straight into another job like he did with Hull then back with us. You can be loyal and not follow someone every time they move. They had jobs, Pearson didn't, they might move when he gets another one.

If they were so loyal they'd have left in support surely?
Guest MattP Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Course they wouldn't, they would wait until Pearson has a job. He wouldn't expect them to sit on the dole waiting for him to find work. For a start Walsh would still be doing his scouting job using our facilities if the long term plan was to join up with him again .
lgfualol Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Shakespeare will never be a manager if he has to hold NP's hand wherever he goes. Would like to see his face after leaving us and watching his new club in a half full ground on a wet tuesday night. Hope they stay though just cuz.
inckley fox Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I don't see any problem in speculating. The divide between speculation and comment on here has always been pretty much even, and at least this is based on the evidence at hand as opposed to complete guesswork, as in most transfer threads. The more interesting question, for me, is not whether they would go or not - I couldn't possibly know, though the past perhaps suggests that if Pearson gets the right job for them, they will. More interesting questions might be what would constitute the right job for them - surely not a mid-table Championship side? - and what the impact of them leaving might be on, for instance, our transfer policy. Would it mean more Inlers and Benalouanes, less Kantes and Mahrezs? Would it unsettle the stability established between the two regimes? Or has the path already been smoothed, and the transfer model already firmly established, beyond a point where it can be knocked off course by one or two departures? Whatever, it's fine to speculate on the answers. I never quite understand why some people have such hostility towards scenarios which might reflect or impact negatively on the club, or its current manager / owners. Surely most of our history has been a succession of events which impact negatively on managers or owners! There's no harm in looking out for the danger ahead.

Has he ever suggested he wants to go it alone someday? Maybe he has, I don't know. I'd like them to stay because they were a part of a successful management team twice, and now part of another, different, currently successful management team. It'd be a shame to rock the boat. But if they leave then, much like John Robertson or Steve Walford, I'll take no pleasure in seeing it go horribly wrong for them. It'd be more likely, based on past evidence, that after a year or two of wet Tuesday nights in half full grounds, they'd end up doing pretty well for themselves. And good for them. Obviously I'm more bothered about Leicester, whatever happens, and as such it'd be good not to lose them.
Guest MattP Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I'm sure I remember Shakey saying he never sees himself in the hot seat and he's more a number two.
inckley fox Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I'm sure I remember Shakey saying he never sees himself in the hot seat and he's more a number two. I thought I remembered some such thing too, but I'm frequently wrong about this sort of matter so I decided not to mention it!
My Nads Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 We'll find out soon enough when Pearson accepts a job. Looks like there are a few decent vacancies for him. I feel Shakespeare might join Pearson at the next opportunity, maybe the end of the season, but I think Walsh will be staying here. That's my gut feeling for what it's worth.
Nickfosse Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Shakespeare and Matt Reeves will be going. Not sure about Walsh. Doesn't this depend on whether the owners are willing to let them go? I know that Matt Reeves will be on a contract where he just needs to work his notice, but not Shakespeare and Walsh. Not being fecitious but does your knowledge extend to the owners thoughts on this?
Captain... Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I don't see any problem in speculating. Surely most of our history has been a succession of events which impact negatively on managers or owners! There's no harm in looking out for the danger ahead. But this isn't some mates chatting down the pub, this is a very public forum which is monitored by the press and by the club and is/was also read by some players. I have no idea if Walsh or Shakespeare read this or even know of its existence, but them knowing that we are speculating about their future isn't the issue, but if this is picked up by the press then it becomes a story. If Nigel Pearson gets a new job and it is said in here by ITKs "Shakespeare and Matt Reeves" will leave then it becomes a story, it causes disruption. If we are looking to recruit new scouts or sports science experts who want to work with some of the best in the field, Reeves and Walsh, but see that they might not stick it could make them look elsewhere. It is not good for anyone to have this cloud of suspicion over these members of staff, especially now Bert has thrown Reeves' name in, it calls into question their commitment, and to some extent their loyalty and could undermine their position. Of course it could have zero impact on anything and they all just sit around laughing at us, but if our comments on here could negatively impact the club I think we would all prefer people didn't make them, like removing threads about Vardy's swear.

st albans fox Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 Which tells its own story - these guys are professionals - no long term allegiance to the club, just to the dosh. they don't have blue blood running through their veins like we do. It's their job. If we were to qualify for Europe then I suspect they would stay for that experience.
MooseBreath Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 Not so loyal to Pearson after all if that is to be believed.
Greg2607 Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 Matt reeves is definitely planning on going and linking up with Pearson again. As and when he gets appointed into a new role.
