I think It must be Sue Townsend. It was at a local poets funeral. She was a nice person but she was on a lot of pills at the time. Depessants and that sort of thing. Other than that I don't know.

Met her when I was a nipper. My mum was one of her best friends at school

I've met Sir David Frost because he's my grandma's cousin.

I've met Mark Wallington because he taught at my Joint 6th Form.

I met the Killers in November 2003 at the Bivouac in Lincoln and then I got confused in a lift a week later with Dave from the Killers. If anyone's been to Warwick Uni, in Union North, there's a set of stairs which goes up one floor, and there's a little landing in the middle (because the stairs change direction). For some reason the lift stops there as well, so we were a bit lost, as was Dave so we got in it with him and he pushed 1 to get to the ground floor like in America but we went up and he got confused, snigger.

Hard to say who is/was most famous but:

Played squash against pop legend Tommy Steele at Wembley, against six-times world champion Jonah Barrington when he made a rare appearance at number one for Cornwall and Pakistan's world champion Qamar Zaman in a Wembley exhibition (before ghost writing all his coaching columns).

Also played a full season with Tony Henman (father of tennis legend Tim Henman) in the invitation squash team he ran out of Weston Manor, Oxfordshire, and met Prince Rainier at the annual Monaco Open Squash championship where he was a regular competitor and actually sunbathed with the (topless) Princess Caroline on a wooden pontoon off the waterfront.

Talked at length with soccer legends Bill Shankly and Sir Bobby Robson and regularly with World Heavyweight Boxing title contender Joe Bugner (at his mum's home in St Ives), champion boxers Alan Minter (we had lunch near Wisbech), top light welterweight Dave Boy Green (at Andy Smith's gym in St Ives) etc, etc.

Was chauferred around Brand's Hatch by Formula One motoring star Gunnar Nillson, was a colleague of legendary writer Barbara Jones (author of the book about Yorkshire Ripper wife Sonia Sutcliffe) and top columnist Richard Littlejohn (during his Peterborough days).

Met world motor cycle champion Giacomo Agostini (in his caravan at Mallory), the legendary Barry Sheene at his home near Wisbech and was a guest of Lord Hesketh and James Hunt (ex-F1 motor racing champion) at Easton Neston, Towcester at the launch of the Hesketh Superbike.

Partnered Chelsea's soon-to-be first £100,000 striker Bill Garner in a match at Grimsby, provided regular 1 on 1 shooting practise for England goallie Peter Shilton at Filbert Street (with Tony Mathers), and had television legend Bill Maynard up at our house one recent Christmas time just so he could have "a bit of peace and a bit of company".

Now I've put a little of it down I can't believe the super life I've enjoyed and the wonderfully talented people I've met. As a singularly ordinary guy, it's been a privilege and a pleasure...and I'm looking forward to living another worthwhile chapter or two when my life gets a little simpler.

Something challenging and a bit different would be nice.

kevin friend is a football league referee :)

And your happy to admit you've met him? Did you punch him? :ermm:

I've never heard of this referee but i'd love to hit referee's, all referee's have made bad names for themselves!

The only decent and best referee in the world is Pier Luigi Collina! He is about the only referee I like and about the only referee I rate!

Roy Keane, spoke at length about Galatasaray when I was quite wee, at Old trafford, he hated me cos I said I supported them for a joke, he likes Leicester though or so he said but that was 10 or so years ago.

Eric Cantona...By far the most scared of someone I've ever been, he said "How are you young guys?" I didn't just meet him on my own there was loads of other kids, which ruined it a bit.

What constitutes meeting?

If meeting = being within one square metre of + celebrity looking back at you, then:

- Mother Teresa (shook hands with, in Italy, years ago)

- Robbie Williams (at Heathrow airport, he was on my flight to L.A., 2001)

- Michael Winner (on a beach in Barbados, 2003)

I'm sure I've forgotten a few (whom I have talked to as well)...

will post later when I remember!

You clearly need to be updated on him and other referees ;)
