The crowned lion has been a prominent feature of the Premier League product since its inception in the 1992-93 season, representing the relationship between the league and the English Football Association. The news has been met with varying degrees of sadness and range by fans across social media. The Premier League is yet to put the contract for the rebrand out to tender, but is viewing the departure of current title sponsor Barclays as the opportunity to refresh the company's image. The Football League unveiled the results of its own rebrand in November, with the new logo in particular attracting the derision of supporters on social media. With the new name, the 'English Football League' or 'EFL', one detractor noted that the initialism "sounds like some kind of racist political party".

AKCJ Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 I like the current logo and there really isn't a need to change it. Seems like every company thinks the grass is always greener with regards to their branding these days.
