m4DD0gg Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Nope obvious improvement on pearson, Greece aside his track record is awesome. An insight into a very clever bloke.....http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proud-Man-Walking-Claudio-Ranieri/dp/0007332483
dylanlegend Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Another master stroke by the owners it seems... Let's hope we keep it up for the next 20+ years
norfolkfox222 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I was sceptical for sure, couldnt see it working at all! All my Norfolk Norwich fans were mocking the appointment, so much so one of them called our fantasy premier league mini league ''Clueless Ranieri - The Tinkerman'' How im loving not only being top of that but reminding him how wrong he was every single day
suffolk fox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 His record at club level has always been superb I was pleased when we appointed him.
TrentFox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I suspect I was like the majority of fans in being astonished by Pearson's dismissal and genuinely fearful that all we were building would be dismantled. The appointment of Ranieri did little to alleviate those fears. The fact that he had been away from the PL for so long, added to his reputation for tinkering, was a cause for suspicion. Everything that has happened since has proved that to be an erroneous thinking pattern. However, there is still a bit of me that is curious what happens as his tenure evolves. Particularly if there are significant changes to back room staff. Perhaps only then will we get a true insight into his direct impact on the team he inherited. There can be no doubting that he has handled game time incredibly well. Hopefully, if significant upheaval in set-up is imminent, he is now suitably reacquainted with PL life for him to take it in his stride, as seems to be his way at the helm of our club. Hope so.
Corky Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Having seen the list comprising of Lennon, Dyche, Cotterill and Preki it seemed I was delighted we avoided those, to be honest. And he clearly is a competent manager and that's all he had to be, really. To be doing as we are currently shows he's got plenty of quality.
Kilworthfox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 No. Of all the candidates available at the time he was one of the best options. I keep hearing from the media how we fans didn't want him, which isn't true. I'm sure the general consensus was that it could have been a bit better, but alot worse.
EGBFitness Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I wouldn't say I was disappointed or underwhelmed, for me it was more reserved. With what Pearson had managed to achieve and with little coming from the club regarding the sacking it was always going to be a little unsettling for supporters. I was just hoping he didn't come in and ruin everything that we had built with has beens and big egos etc which thank fully he hasn't. I remember having a conversation with someone when we got promoted and was telling them about the significance of this team, even back from the championship days I knew this team would go far and could make history, of course never dreamed we would be sitting in the position were in right now though. I was a little disappointed with his first press conference regarding the 1 point more than last year as I wanted to see more ambition from him/the club. Looking back at it now it's completely understandable especially with the long standing joke of 40 points with the media. I think this thread should be called how much do you trust our owners rather than the thread title, which I completely respect any decision they decide, I honestly believe they are the best owners in the league and everything is done in the best for the club. No matter what decisions they decide in the future however bizzare they may seem at the time I will still back them 100%

Imagine if this place ran the club, we'd have Neil Lennon in charge bi can only fear what position the club would be in right now
foxes161 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 No I was happy with the appointment due to his previous experience here
LanguedocFox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I'm happy to put my hands up. I was bitterly disappointed when Pearson was sacked, and it was clear that Ranieri was not a planned appointment. Given his recent record, I was therefore convinced that we were doomed, and would be bottom by the end of November. In fact, I thought that there was an outside chance that the owners would sign Pearson for a third time, once Claudio got the bullet after ten games (shades of Sven). All of which goes to show how little I know about football. I still feel rather sad that Pearson isn't able to see the fruits of his labour, but well done to Ranieri. Incidentally, did anyone see this: http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/15/chelsea-consider-move-for-leicester-boss-claudio-ranieri-report-5625139/. What is the Italian for "Fvck off"?
5waller5 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I've just gone for a root around to see what I said in the appointment thread and it's this: I really don't get the negativity ...... We sign a world class manager for once and it's met with "hope he doesn't do anything different to Nigel" .... Change is uncomfortable for some people but without it you generally don't make progress .... this is a progressive appointment, even if only short term. IMHO. Maybe the fact I didn't like Pearson helped being a bit more objective!!
It'sblueupnorth Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I have evidence from texts to my mates and dad that I said out of the options linked with us after Pearson was sacked I would have Ranieri out of all of them, other than the silly ones like Klopp. His track record shows he is good at building teams like us up. Didn't really expect to be doing as well as we're doing but I'm not complaining!!

I agree, I think the fans were generally ok with the appointment. Whereas I've heard that we wanted Lennon which certainly didn't occur on here.
whetstonefox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Yep, I was completely wrong , I assumed big fat Sam would be in charge by now! Strangely though at the time people at work who support other teams thought in general it was a good appointment!

Whereas I've heard that we wanted Lennon which certainly didn't occur on here. Think it was just media hype about Lennon but I'm sure I read somewhere that MON was interviewed first and turned it down.
