Admit it, who thought Ranieri was a disastrous appointment?

I was thinking about this today, and I remember the day he was made our manager I was very dubious and not happy. I was thinking this is a guy who has never been involved in a relegation scrap before and he is not experienced in fighting at the bottom. His previous job was awful and he couldn't have done any worse with Greece.  I admit I was not feeling it.. and I was thinking he is 64 and he just wants a big pay in the prem as his last job and then when we sack him after being stuck in relegation all season he will just retire from football.

Omg how wrong I was, I was so wrong on so many levels. I called it totally wrong. The guy is amazing and I think I speak for every Leicester fan that the guy is totally class. I love everything about him, his tactics, the way he sets us up, his interviews, press conferences. The guy is a class act and a gentleman.. and he is a great man-manager, the players clearly love playing for him. Ranieri is the best thing that has happened to us in a long time, apart from being promoted. He will win manager of the season, I am sure of it.

I actually remember the day he signed for us saying to my dad that I will love to be called wrong,  and I have.  I was wondering who else was exactly like me? who else was very dubious?. When I say dubious I don't mean "unsure", I mean like I really thought he will take us on a one way ticket back down too the championship.

I wasn't looking forward to this season when he was appointed. I was angry Pearson was sacked and honestly thought he was what was best for the team. I'm eating my words. This year is so good and I can't help but smile when I watch an interview with Claudio.

Not me.

I was excited by the appointment at the time and looking forward to a new start after Pearson.

Obviously I never thought it would go this good but I was confident of a 10th-12th finish when he was appointed. Always liked the bloke.

didnt really have much of a judgement on it, was gutted pearson had been sacked and was delighted we didnt appoint some absolute queg like neil lennon or steve cotteril. did say he was comfortably the best out of the names linked but didnt think he'd be anywhere near this good tbf.

Compared to those names I was over the moon with Ranieri. Steve Cotterill ffs

I was quite excited about Mr Ranieri as our manager thought we would finish 8th (hopefully I was wrong) my spurs supporting manager at work took the piss at the time saying how can you appoint a manager whose team lost to the Faroe Islands and I've took great pleasure this week of reminding him of this statement lol

Me.

I'm happy to admit it, I'm always happy to admit when i'm wrong. I have a feeling people think i'm think pig-headed arsehole who wants us to fail and wants to moan at everything, i'm not honestly, i'm delighted i'm wrong, I can't be happier i'm eating my words.

That said I wasn't against him because I thought he'd be disastrous in the job, It was a concern but it wasn't my main concern, my main concern and gripe against the appointment was how long he'd be here that was either being sacked or leaving, now being sacked you'd assume was because he was doing a bad job, leaving well that remains to be seen, but I can't see why he'd want to leave.

Another main reason against his appointment was simply because of the situation with Nigel Pearson, I love him, simple, he did a great job for us, it was raw and I was upset, angry, disappointed and didn't agree with it, but no i'll admit I was skeptical of the whole sacking/appointing situation but I can't argue, despite this being Nigel Pearson's team (And I credit him massively for that) Nigel Pearson's wouldn't have took up this far, Claudio Ranieri has took us took the next level (And I credit him massively for that) hopefully we can stay or even progress further from this level!

Yeah after reading something ScouseFox said in my defence (And it is on record, i'm sure) I did say Ranieri was the best of bad bunch, abit of backhanded complement but a complement nonetheless.

I honestly didn't.

Never expected the season so far but never thought we would be worrying about relegation under him.

This.

I set up a thread literally called 'The Postives' and thought he could lead us to a good midtable finish to kick on from. Never ever expected this.

I wasn't overwhelmed.

I thought he had a good record but this was a different size of club to what he had managed before. I wasn't sure it would work out.

I was quite optimistic really, I thought from the start we'd have a comfortable season under his management. I felt Pearson built the foundations and Ranieri's just carried on from the end of last season, with his own added knowhow and top tactics & subtitutions work.

I'll be honest I thought the comfortable season would in tail us finishing 13th, which was my prediction. But what has happened this season is truly amazing and even better than I thought it would be.

With all due respect, who cares?

Anybody who had that opinion then was entitled to it.  And anybody who has an opinion on Ranieri now (hopefully a completely opposite one) is entitled to it.

The only person that thought we would have this type of season was that guy that had a tenner on us to be top at Christmas

Didn't expect us to do quite so well, but I certainly didn't see a repeat of last season. As others have said, if you look at his form at club level its pretty astounding. For Greece, he only saw the players on a handful of occasions for a few days at a time, and those players probably didnt see each other much either, plus the Greek national side has been in an awful way for a while now, so hard to blame Claudio for any of that, especially when they went and lost to the Faroe Isles AGAIN 6 months after he was sacked.

Predicted us to be around 11th-14th this season, and that was with Claudio in charge.

And when you compare it to the other candidates and suggested names for the job at the time (I'm looking at you, Lennon, and Klopp as well tbh), they're certainly not making us regret picking CR over them.

Oh, and he won me £160 from a £2 bet, so it certainly wasn't disastrous in my eyes ;)
