Number 6 Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Think it's worth considering wages and fees too. People talk of Austin being a bargain at £4m but apparently he wanted £80k a week (rumoured). In that sense our squad is staggering value to just be in the league, let alone top 4.
STUHILL Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Name me any club in the Prem who has had value for money from every signing. It just doesn't happen and actually, we have one of the best squads in the league for value of money so don't see this at all. Harsh on Okazaki too. I think he has been a very useful addition and seems to be getting better. Factor in that we are a Prem team now and are overcharged for every player, I think we have done above average in this sense.
Rusko187 Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Bit harsh to criticise Okazaki, his performances are improving and for the money I would say he has done enough to impress.. May not bag 20 goals but his work rate is unquestionable. Ulloa on the other hand, well I just don't understand what's happened to him... He seems about 19 steps off the pace, just doesn't look the same player as last season.
4everfox Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 How can you say Okazaki is not value. He's been here 6 months and had a great start and is improving again in recent weeks. He's still adapting to the league ffs. If it took me more then 6 months to adapt to a new job I'd find myself on the jam roll and I'd be earning less in a year then Shinji earns in a week. I agree he is steadily improving though or maybe it just seems that way because Vardy and Ulloa have been woeful recently.
Hollism Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Most of our recent buys have been terrible value for money (Kante excepted). Benalouane, Inler, Okazaki, Ulloa and Kramaric have made no impact and are now worth less than half their purchase price. Our best buys seen to be frees like Fuchs and Albrighton or low risk buys like Mahrez, Vardy, Huth etc. Seems like the higher the fee the greater the chances of failure. You've listed Inler in the first list, and Huth in second. But Huth cost at least the same as Inler. You've made a point that isn't completely wrong, but I think you're exaggerating to an extent.
Koke Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Okazaki - improving and he's been good since then turn of the year. Ulloa - he's shite now but his goals kept us up last season. Kramaric - played the odd cup game and as a lone striker against Arsenal last season when we were shite. Inler - only cost us about £3m and he's a decent squad player. Benmy - like Kramaric, he hasn't been given much of a chance. Only Dyer has been a crap signing but he's a loan signing.
Long Eaton Fox Posted 21 January 2016 Author Posted 21 January 2016 My point is that throwing money at signings doesn't always work which is my concern for a new striker. Huth did cost about the same as Inler but was proven during his loan spell. Okazaki to be fair is improving, Ulloa is going backwards and Benny and Kramaric have made no impression. It is true that this squad as a whole is worth far more than was spent due to Vardy, Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater's value going up and up. It's the hidden gems that seem to have progressed us. Hope that Amarty and a new striker do the same.
Finn Claw II Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 It's a squad game. Benny, Inler, Ulloa all do their part. You need 4 CBs, 4 or 5 attackers and 5 or so CMs. With a squad that size someone won't play.
foxinsox Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 We have had a few duffers on free or nominal fees over the last couple of years. It is not the expensive benches fault that our cheap as chips players keep getting points. It is hard to justify changing a winning side (though perhaps a little tintering wouldn't go amiss in throwing the opposition something unexpected) Next years TV money means even more absurd fees and wages, but that is all part of playing at this end of the table. Just write in the relegation clauses please, I do not want to be in administration and threatened with extinction again.

In your list only 1 can be put don to a bad buy Kramaric. Even he i think could still make it elsewhere just not turned out right fit for us. With todays inflated prices we have paid peanuts for the people you list when you look at the spending of the teams above and around us. How can you say Okazaki is now worth less then half his purchase price? Are you real a Leicester city fan or have you been listening to Mark Lawrenson and his opinions of us all season and then pretending to be a fan? One of the worst posts ive seen here in my opinion. Pity we cant give a away a few posters here on Foxestalk on a FREE transfer
