chapero82 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 I hear you. I just think it's time for thinking positive. Sorry, my frustration isn't just with you. That's ok bud let's just go with what we have at least we didn't get anybody just for the sake of it e.g Beckford who could ruin our harmony
Alf Bentley Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Yes lets think positive you name four goalscorers this season here are another 5, Huth,Schlupp,Kante,DD and Allbrighton have a;; scored PL goals this season. Agreed others have to step up but we have tightened up our defence where as earlier in the season we needed to score 2 or 3 to win games recently 1 has been enough. Would have hoped to have brought in new bodies but you need round pegs for round holes and perhaps some just did not fit, IMVVHO this season is not a one off for us and I do not expect us to suddenly drop to relegation candidates next season, we have seen a steady improvement over the time our owners came in and there is so much going for us, pre season we were scrapping with Villa and Marseille for players, Villa are in disarray and Marseille have just signed Steven Fletcher so onwards and upwards All fair points. Whatever our views of transfer business, it's important that we as fans have a positive attitude - particularly at matches. We want to transmit belief, not nervousness, to the players. We have 3 matches coming up where we could easily play well and still lose.....but would still be right in contention even if we did....and just imagine the position we'd be in if we could get 5 or 6 points from the next 3 matches? We are still top of the bloody league. Amazing! Like others, though, I have some concern that, by missing out on a 4th striker, we might have diluted our chances of qualifying for the Champions League via a Top 3 finish. Of course, it might turn out better this way - the wrong signing might have flopped or disrupted the squad, and we still have a very good squad. But if we do miss out, I'm concerned that there would be at least a partial summer rebuilding job, as surely someone else would come in offering Champions League football to Mahrez & Kante, and possibly Vardy? We'd get big fees, but would then have to spend wisely....and I don't want those 3 players to leave anyway. Yes, our defence has improved massively in recent months -and there are other players capable of contributing goals. Can't imagine that Drinky or N'Golo will get many, but Shinji is improving all the time, and Ulloa, Albrighton, Huth, Fuchs, Schlupp, King, Gray and Amartey are all capable of getting a goal or two. Should be an exciting and positive few months, even if results in the next 3 are patchy - and they might not be. Looking forward to tonight now. Same team as v. Stoke, I expect. Hoping for a similar performance. Exciting times!
Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Feels similar I'd imagine to getting Rachel Riley in bed and not being able to get it up...... what an anti climax Like that could happen

chapero82 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 An anti-climax and a non-climax... or a pre climax?
Alf Bentley Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 or a pre climax? I have shared your problem, brother!
The Railway Man Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 "No more Business" Is that a statement of intent for LCFC or Corbyn's campaign slogan for 2020?
Burmesefox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Chelsea pulled out of the deal. It's hard to recruit in this window (especially when LCFC now competing for the best players in Europe and have the least pedigree) and the worst thing we could do is to bring in a prima dona collecting a pay cheque and disrupting our band of brothers mentality. Come on lads stop whinging and start supporting. I lived through Wallace, Milne, Hamilton, Pleat, Lee, Little, McGhee, O'Neill, Taylor, Basset, Adams, Levein, Kelly, Worthington, Allen, Megson, Holloway, Pearson, Sousa, and Ericson. I've seen attendances regularly in the 7000's, administration, and relegation to our lowest ever level - things aint bad at all. When you're smiling!
Burmesefox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 People saying we should trust the staff - if they'd have said 2 weeks before the deadline that they were happy to go with what they've got for the remainder of the season, I'd have trusted them. I'd have been surprised that that was their opinion, but I'd have trusted them to know what they're doing. However, as they've openly come out and said they wanted, or indeed, needed a new striker - I can't help but think we've failed to bring in what's going to be required for us to make a real challenge for a title/top 4. Very happy with the other business we've done in the window, but not getting in support for Vardy is a huge risk. We're fine as long as everyone stays fit - but if Vardy is injured, or heaven forbid he starts feeling the pressure of carrying the hopes of this season on his shoulders then IMO we could be in trouble as far as keeping this run going is concerned. Our biggest chance, and pretty much any club outside the top four's biggest chance, to win the title and potentially change the course of history of this club and I can't help think we could well have shot ourselves in the foot. I'm not saying we should have spent the extra £5million on Musa, if we didn't value him at £23m then we should have looked elsewhere quicker and got someone signed. CR said he would like a new striker if the deal is right but if it doesn't happen he isn't too worried. Whilst that may be exactly how he feels it equally may be just be his official line and he may be seething behind the scenes - that, we just do not know.
Gerard Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 You won't be laughing if we only have ulloa up top for a couple of games

Hoping for a similar performance. Exciting times! Hopefully nobody will forget this, although as soon as the current strikers draw a blank in a game the voices bemoaning the lack of a forward signing will get louder, it's inevitable. I'm usually a glass half full (as opposed to a glass is full, but cracked and overflowing with hot sewage) kind of guy as far as the old football is concerned and although it would have been exciting for an expensive player to come in, I'm not too upset as there's no certainty that they would hit the ground running and make any meaningful contribution to the outcome of the season. It is, after all, not that unusual now for Premier League sides to spend huge sums of money on players that seem to have no impact on their fortunes whatsoever. I expect that those responsible at the club saw signing another striker as desirable, quite possibly helpful but not essential. If they'd thought it were the latter, I'm sure they could have signed somebody of reasonable pedigree if they were that bothered. My positive slant is that not signing another forward should be taken by the players (and it's really them that matter) that there is a belief that they're up to the job, and the burden on them can be eased not by the addition of extra bodies but working on getting the rest of the team to weigh in with a few goals. We'll see
desertfox2 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 lol Is anyone else thinking of American pie?
Bunyip Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 "Awful" as in giving fringe players the opportunity to go out on loan and gain valuable match practice at a top level? The degree of entitlement amongst the fanbase is baffling at times. We're top of the league in the second year upon promotion and people think we ought to act like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United, Manchester City or Newcastle United even. God you do talk some naive rubbish at times . Yes we DO need to act like those clubs if we want to progress . you need to lose your small club mentality.
