Gutted this is raniaris first mistake anyone is better than nobody if we get an injury to vardy. What a get chance we have of getting top 4 this best not have blown it. Poor from Leicester.

An extra striker would have increased the pressure on those in front of them to perform. we saw how nugent and vardy's form improved after krama came - co incidence ? Maybe, but how well is DD playing with Inler sitting on the bench.

However, would the new guy have been happy not to play? I know that Spurs management didn't bring in another 'top' striker because poch didn't want to upset the group. It's a tough call but clearly we felt it was worth bringing remy in so we were prepared to take that risk.

People forget that we play a 4-4-1-1 in reality. We need ONE striker and ONE number 10 to play that formation. Vards and Shinji are doing a great job, but if one of them gets injured, we could bring Riyad central or Gray said he can play central too, so it's not as big a deal as some are making out. It's still frustrating, though.

Anyone else feel like Chelsea played us very very well? All day they give hints that Remy is available for a fee or loan and then maybe we see Musa is not happening so go all in for him and then conveniently at 8.30pm they pull the plug and it leaves us no time to do anything else.

They will still have eyes on the top 4 whatever anyone says and we are the potential weakest link so it makes sense.

Quite possibly, yes. That's another reason why I think our recruitment team are quite naive. It does take us a long time to get transfers over the line for whatever reason. Some will say they are just being cautious and thorough, where as others will say it's because they are aren't efficient. Either way we are now left with a missed opportunity that hopefully won't be talked about for years to come as I can't hack it.

Did Robinho's contract expire before today? If so, he can still be signed but if it expired even a day after the close of the window we couldn't get him until the summer.

Not really ranieris mistake - he obviously wanted a striker, it's the recruitment team that didn't get anything over the line.

Don't worry mate I'm signing on a free transfer, to be unveiled at half time tonight

I'm trying to think positive here, particularly re. strikers:

- Okazaki's form has been improving steadily in recent games

- Ulloa looked good v. Stoke & isn't as bad as the moaners like to claim

- We'll now be averaging just 1 game per week, so fatigue/fitness shouldn't be a major issue

- We might NOT get injuries or suspensions affecting strikers

- We've kept ALL our top players, who might have gone elsewhere

- We've made some promising new signings for the future, who could contribute this season

- Er, we're still top of the bloody league!

Truth is the lack of strikers DOES concern me. We have enough midfielders and wingers to play various other formations (4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1, whatever) but are very short of good options for 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1, our favoured formations.

We do have other options up front, not just Vardy/Leo/Shinji, but they all involve players out of position or unproven as strikers at this level: Mahrez or King as 2nd striker, Gray or Schlupp up front etc.

Let's just hope we carry on being lucky with injuries!

Our league goalscorers so far this season: Vardy 16, Mahrez 13, Okazaki 4, Ulloa 2, The Rest 1 or 0.....  Would be a good time for 1 or 2 others to start hitting the net....

Was anyone to blame for us not getting another striker in? The Musa/Eder/Gayle/Diouf scenarios are just the sort of things that happen - pretty unavoidable, assuming our interest was as reported. Falcao, of all people, seems to have stymied the Remy bid. Could we have anticipated that potential problem and lined up another standby option? Maybe, but how many options can you reasonably juggle - and how far down your list are you prepared to go?

"We move on!", as Sir Nige would say....on with the prospect of 3.5 months of roller-coaster excitement with big rewards at the end, potentially - starting tomorrow (EDIT: this evening!)

Yes lets think positive you name four goalscorers this season here are another 5, Huth,Schlupp,Kante,DD and Allbrighton have a;; scored PL goals this season. Agreed others have to step up but we have tightened up our defence where as earlier in the season we needed to score 2 or 3 to win games recently 1 has been enough. Would have hoped to have brought in new bodies but you need round pegs for round holes and perhaps some just did not fit, IMVVHO this season is not a one off for us and I do not expect us to suddenly drop to relegation candidates next season, we have seen a steady improvement over the time our owners came in and there is so much going for us, pre season we were scrapping with Villa and Marseille for players, Villa are in disarray and Marseille have just signed Steven Fletcher so onwards and upwards

People saying we should trust the staff - if they'd have said 2 weeks before the deadline that they were happy to go with what they've got for the remainder of the season, I'd have trusted them. I'd have been surprised that that was their opinion, but I'd have trusted them to know what they're doing.

However, as they've openly come out and said they wanted, or indeed, needed a new striker - I can't help but think we've failed to bring in what's going to be required for us to make a real challenge for a title/top 4.

Very happy with the other business we've done in the window, but not getting in support for Vardy is a huge risk. We're fine as long as everyone stays fit - but if Vardy is injured, or heaven forbid he starts feeling the pressure of carrying the hopes of this season on his shoulders then IMO we could be in trouble as far as keeping this run going is concerned.

Our biggest chance, and pretty much any club outside the top four's biggest chance, to win the title and potentially change the course of history of this club and I can't help think we could well have shot ourselves in the foot.

I'm not saying we should have spent the extra £5million on Musa, if we didn't value him at £23m then we should have looked elsewhere quicker and got someone signed.

Again, it's not Ranieris mistake. He said he wanted a striker. He doesn't do the negotiating someone else does? How is it the managers fault.

Exactly for me it's the negotiators that need to go cod they did an awful job

"Awful" as in giving fringe players the opportunity to go out on loan and gain valuable match practice at a top level?

The degree of entitlement amongst the fanbase is baffling at times. We're top of the league in the second year upon promotion and people think we ought to act like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United, Manchester City or Newcastle United even. lol

You won't be laughing if we only have ulloa up top for a couple of games

Claudio is in the press today, saying he's told the players, it's a once in a lifetime chance.

He stated prior to the window closing, that he was confident of getting a striker in, but wasn't concerned if nothing happened.

Claudio is an experienced manager, and no matter what happens from now to the end of the season, he and the team have done amazing this season, and have now laid the foundations to getting us established in the premier league.

So I trust him, and the decisions made, and as much as I'm frustrated we didn't add a striker, as I think we need better around vardy, if Claudio has faith in the players he's got, so have I.

How am I a troll? You're the same age as me yet you're talking like a kid who signed up once we 'turned good'.

The guy whose goals kept us in the Prem last year? Who scored in his last match?

Haha turned up before we turned good me??? I was coming when we was in league one, I worked as a kiosk assistant at Filbert street just so I could come to babes as my parents couldn't afford to buy tickets!

So why all this whiny shit now? Just enjoy it. We're in dreamland - every silver lining had a cloud.

If Vardy and Okazaki get injured we have 1 striker left, this is probably our only chance getting in the top four, I just don't want us to lose out from this mistake that's all

I hear you. I just think it's time for thinking positive.

Sorry, my frustration isn't just with you.
