Xen Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35500840 I think the team winning the league will have 78 points or more. The SAM prediction thing is pointlessly stupid, and it's only being held up as 'clever' because in the week it was up against Lawro there were a lot of draws. It says there that we'll only lose one more this season (I think it's excluding the Man City game for that part) yet we'll finish on ~70 points, so based off of that, 20 points from 12 non-losing games is 4W 8D. The SAM system seems to predict a 1-1 draw for about 60% of matches, which is stupid. There's no way that ~71 points will be enough to win the league, as that prediction is saying.
HighPeakFox Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 3 tomorrow. That's as far ahead as I dare look this evening.
Jimothy Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 1 more point than the team that finishes second.
Kitchandro Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I can never think about it this way. It's too far ahead and too clinical. It's all about the next game, to quote every footballer on earth. This season could be all time low points tally for the title winners, for all we know.
Foxxed Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 1 more point than the team that finishes second.
Foxxed Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 But if we do have an excess - through victory or goodwill - I'm all for giving the extra to Loros.
4everfox Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 With 14 games left I can say quite safely based on this seasons evidence that every team in the top four will drop at least 5 points. So worst case scenario would be Man City dropping 5 points from a potential 42 points which would mean they finish on 84 points. On that logic 35 more points would be a realistic prediction which would mean we need to get at least 11 wins from our final 14 games if we didn't want to risk having to better Man City's goal difference. Its going to be very tough.
adam1 Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 If we match our results in the first half of the season = 78pts. As it stands we have gained 7pts against the teams we played so far in second half of season (+3pts liv, +2pts stoke, +2pts mancity, +2pts tott, -2pts villa, 0 bournemouth) so 85 points is on!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 Something worth noting... only one of our immediate challengers could possibly go perfect from now until the end of the season, because Spurs, Man City, Arsenal and Manchester United all have to play each other. Naturally the likeness of that happening is slim, but the point remains they will drop points... Which in turn gives us that extra comfort.
Nalis Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 Second place last season were on 52pts at this stage last season hopefully that might shut some of the critics up seeing as we are on 53pts now.
