I think that Barnsley game was where Ben Marshall mouthed F**k off to us wasn't it when he casually snail pace walked to take a corner at 2-0. Definitely puts into perspective the quality and consistency we are seeing over the last year.

7 years ago we went 1-0 down against hereford. today gigi buffon tweeted his congrats that we're in the champions league.

I remember the game at Edgar Street and, believe it or not, part of me misses that small town matchday experience because the unity on display among the fanbase was one of the pillars that gave the team the boost to fight back and regain the status within the Championship.

Btw, I never want to get back to either the Championship or even League One. Still... fond memories of 2008/2009.

I'd quite fancy a pre-season friendly against Hereford FC.

Who else is up for it?

?? We've never lost to hereford.

Haha remember this well, it was absolutely p!ssing it down.

Dickov and Fryatt as a partnership in that game was horrific to watch.

Howard was injured or suspended and dickov was woeful . Remember getting to posh for 8am as my mate sed a pub was open, it was shut down, 5k city fans on a terrace with no bogs losing to Craig Mackail Smith who we tried to then sign. Now we boss the prem . Amazing.

I enjoyed the 08/09 season as well. Fond memories at Northampton, Peterborough, Orient etc. Great away days. Wouldn't wanna be stuck down there like Sheffield United and Coventry though.

BTW, earlier this week was 2 years to the day Brighton beat us 4-1 at home after we had steamrolled the division. A certain Mr Ulloa scored for Brighton that day and Gary Taylor-Fletcher got the only one for us.

7 years tomorrow, Steve Howard scored that goal vs Leeds to pretty much secure promotion back to Championship.

Someone's finally put a high-res version of the highlights of that spectacular game online:

I'll never forget the way the stadium shook when Howard scored that header.

7 years to the day. What a moment that was. My favourite bit was the guys on the bench (Mattock?), going absolutely nuts as well. I still maintain we wouldn't have got out of League 1 first time round if it wasn't for big Steve.

Never noticed Stockdale at the end before. He tries to join in the celebrations with the whole team and Dickov just sends him back to his goal.

That's actually Stockdale speaking at the end of the video (from 3:22 onwards), talking about celebrating the win with mates in a pub, still wearing an LCFC tracksuit. lol
