smr Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 [And we're not quite there yet but it's looking good... ] I thought it would be a good time to rummage through a few Leicester things from years ago... and rekindle in some of our greatest memories as fans growing up and supporting the club... I'll start with this cartoon I found today, I drew this in 1994 when I was 10 years old... 1994 Second leg League 1 Play Off Final. The actual score was 2-1 to us (not the 3-1 I had predicted), we went to Wembley and beat Derby County 2-1, one of the best days of my life, my hero Steve Walsh scored the winner and "The Silence of the RAMS" poster with Walshy wheeling away in celebration was on my bedroom wall for a good three seasons after that. One of my most treasured and fondly remembered eras as a Leicester fan that was, but winning the Premier League would surpass that easily. There's hundreds of other things I could think of but I particuarly loved that season after the crushing heartbreak at Wembley the year before watching us cheated out of the game vs Swindon. What's your favourite era/ time/ stories to tell following Leicester ?
smr Posted 26 April 2016 Author Posted 26 April 2016 Wellers tights. I'd have to ask my Dad about that one, or Birch, over a pint.
tom27111 Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 Did all the Wembley trips from 92 onwards, but the one that really sticks out for me was beating Wolves 3-2 away. McGhee had just jumped ship and gone to them, Heskey scored and got a Thermos flask thrown at him when celebrating. 5-4 at home to Newcastle was a good one too. David Kelly and Micky Quinn both got hat-tricks. Maybe that's why Quinn hates us so much now?
Robin JD Popley Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 I've just listened to Claudio's interview today on SSN and he has hit the right tone for me. We need to go out there on Sunday aiming to win. Whatever happens after that, will take care of itself. Ok, people like to win these things at their own ground but, like Claudio, I'm a man who likes facts and statistics. They read we need three points to be certain. We need to go to Manchester and try to win. No other mindset is correct. If 1st May 2016 is to be a special day in our clubs history, then wonderful. "Slowly, slowly" as Mr Ranieri would say.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 I remember Yeovil away in the 2008/2009 League One season. 1-2 win on the night but it was definitely in the minus temperatures.

Another one I have about Emile - Standing outside Pride Park after we thumped them 4-1 or something ridiculous and after the game Emile came up to me and my Dad (and the rest of the fans with us), wearing big, chunky heavy duty chains.. it just started spitting with rain so my Dad in his typical sense of humour goes "Hey Emile, you better go in before your chains go rusty" ... the look Emile gave my Dad! Haha. He didn't see the funny side of it anyway...
st albans fox Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 Coming back against leatherhead and the cup quarter final v Shrewsbury are etched into my mind. Also, for some strange reason a 3-0 win against Chelsea in the mid seventies - a rofe thunderbolt and a garland header included (I think). Add my 1974 mascot of the day appearance (but that's not very historc for the club!)
filbertuk Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 Stood in the Holte End at Villa in the midst of a massive "You'll Never Walk Alone" from us after going 1-0 down to Liverpool in the FA Cup Semi Final replay - 1974... Lenny Glover equalised at our end and it was pure bedlam - massively emotional..

It looks like it's Liverpool singing YNWA at that moment (it could have been both sets of fans, though) - and Glover scores at the other end! Isn't it weird how memory plays tricks on you - I've noticed that with a few of my own cherished football memories - when I look closer it turns out I'd reconstructed it at some point. I totally believe you about the 'pure bedlam' point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7Yek3w0u4c
ceredigion Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 For me, nothing will ever quite exceed the euphoria of the Oxford game in 1991. Grown men really did cry that day. I know, I was one of them. The Shrewsbury FA Cup match in 1982 and the play off against Derby are up there too.

I seem to remember Chris Garland scoring 2 in one game or possibly a hat-trick. around 1975.
ceredigion Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 I've always loved the scene at the end of the Arsenal game when the ref is surrounded by all the Arsenal players and subs and Walshie just strides into the middle of it to find out what the problem is.

And Ian Wright even fancied his chances against Steve Walsh. The crowding of the referee at the end was ridiculous, typical of Arsenal.

Only got the ticket on the morning from my brother via scout / ex player Charlie Adam - my bro married his daughter (win it for them too) Great to see that footage after all these years.
jezuardo Posted 26 April 2016 Posted 26 April 2016 Staying up v Oxford, Cambridge play off home semi, Derby and Palace finals
