Gerard Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 same but going in to next season we really need to cement ourselves, which is why i think they are so high on Deeney. In the future i think that policy is how we should be looking to build but as for next season we should do everything possible to get into the top 4 and secure our revenue stream. Fair comment, a pivotal season for us. Are we the real deal or a flash in the pan?
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Watching Portugal earlier made me think of 2 things. 1) if we do lose Kante, the fee we get off that should be used to bring in William Carlvalho. Not so much a like to like replacement but he's a great holding midfielder & breaks play up amazingly. He's as strong as an ox too! 2) Danilo seems like someone who would be a great addition. He's an absolute powerhouse in the middle of the park. Quick, strong & plays everything simple. Gives us that height & strength we sometimes lack in our midfield department!

Carvalho would be my first choice to replace Kante too, I mean lets be honest we're not going to find someone who plays like Kante as well as he can so maybe we should be looking at a different style to replace him imo

Carvalho might cost a few quid yeah but he's got an amazing career ahead of him & seems to be a player who wears his heart in his sleeve.
MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Sterling, Draxler, Martial, Gotze, Sane, Alli, Iheanacho, Tielemans, Coman. Just off the top of my head. He has an impressive physicality, but i'd be fuming if we forked out 20m on a lad who has scored 9 in 22 in a league considered worse than those in Poland and Greece. He may well turn out decent. But it's pretty obvious why we've not gone for him. So, the exceptions prove the rule. It's hard to find many 19-year olds who have achieved more than what Embolo has done during his time at Basel, being part of the first team since age 17 and regularly playing Europa League and Champions League football for the past three seasons. Btw, he scored ten goals in the league last season, plus two in Europe. Who exactly considers the Swiss league worse than Poland and Greece? The difference in country coefficient is marginal and Switzerland tops both other countries considerably in the country ranking, particularly Poland. Latest news is that Schalke will be paying Basel 30m Euro for Embolo over the course of four years - that's with all add-ons included.
ST20 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Back on track: Mislav Orsic (23, LW/LM) Are you on a quest to present the most obscure football players from around the world?
MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Are you on a quest to present the most obscure football players from around the world? I'm trying to expand your horizon and offer a different perspective. How obscure were some of our current crop before they signed for Leicester City FC, I wonder?

MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Something less obscure for some: Neven Subotić is rumoured to be nearing his end at Borussia Dortmund and wouldn't be overly costly. GERRIMIN!

FoxinNotts Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Sigurdsson and Slimani. Whilst also, retaining the title winning first teamers. Maybe Mendy in for Kante, which looks likely. That is all.
jimmy7587 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Have you woken up from a coma? It's not 2012. Haha! Just have very low expectations! But come to think of it, the names I've picked Sven would also know and would have gone for! Said on Talksport today Andros Townsend has a release clause of £10.5m with Liverpool interested He's not a worldie by any stretch, but he is quick with a decent work rate and can chip in with goals. I think he'd add something, and with the threat of Mahrez potentially leaving (though obvioulsly hope not) then for £10.5m seems like a decent investment. I'm praying this is a joke. Only one I'd have out of those is mane imo the rest would struggle to make the bench Based on last season, then any player would struggle to get into our team as we only lost 3 games! I was merely basing the "wishlist" on potential outgoings, and to add depth to the squad as we were rather lucky with injuries last season! Looking back, I retract Osman and Flamini; that is actually a little backwards! Mendy potentially on the way would strengthen the midfield. Demichelis would add cover and a cheap option as would rather have him than a £15m Keane. Andy Carroll, will obviously divide opinions. However, I believe now Vardy has committed to us for another 4 years, he would pair brilliantly with someone like Andy Carroll IMHO. Let's see how the transfer dealings pan out! Just happy we've not got Troy
Guest Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 I'd offer NP a swap of Liam moore or RDL (if CR doesn't want him) for Jeff Hendrick.
Clever Fox Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 I'd offer NP a swap of Liam moore or RDL (if CR doesn't want him) for Jeff Hendrick. Yes Hendrick is decent and can do better with our Coaching from CR. I watched Shane Duffy play a blinder for Ireland against Italy last night. He'll be back in the Premiership soon. I'd like us to grab him as one for the future.
MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 In other news, central midfielder Clément Chântome was once rumoured to join us (I think it must've been in January) - he's now close to signing a three-year deal with Stade Rennais FC: http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Rennes-christian-gourcuff-confirme-l-arrivee-de-clement-chantome/698334
