davieG Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Leicester eye experienced Danish centre-back LEICESTER, UPDATED: MAY 13, 2016 12:10 PM Leicester were understood to be watching Danish centre-back Piere Kanstrup when they scouted SonderjyskE's win over Viborg this week. The Foxes were reported to have sent two scouts to Sydbank Park on Wednesday for the Superligaen clash which SonderjyskE won 2-0 to maintain their unlikely title challenge. It is likely that they were there to assess Kanstrup, who has been key to his club's success this season and was last month nominated for the league's player of the month award. Latest video Although not yet capped by Denmark, the 27-year-old has developed into a solid central defender and would fit the Foxes' formula of only signing experienced players in that position. Kanstrup captains SonderjyskE and has started almost 80 matches for the club in the past two and a half seasons. The former Brondby man has one more year left on his current contract.Read more at: https://www.clubcall.com/leicester-city/leicester-eye-experienced-danish-centre-back-1810085.html?
TheStig Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 He is way below what we require. A Championship player at the very best - get quality rather than this!
MPH Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 He is way below what we require. A Championship player at the very best - get quality rather than this! I think the problem that we face is getting someone top quality to sit on the bench. We may be champions of England, but i don't think we will do a chelsea or man city and pay someone 80k a week to sit on the bench..
Ric Flair Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Luis Hernandez is joining on a free and I think we'll go back in for Dragovic before the Euros start.
MPH Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Luis Hernandez is joining on a free and I think we'll go back in for Dragovic before the Euros start. I did just read somewhere that he can play anywhere across the back so he might be a useful utility player... De laet heading out too, perhaps?

Yes I agree up to a point but our bench must have quality as we are bound to rest players during the coming season. I do not think Kanstrup in any way meet the requirements of the champions of England and the gap between the Danish co called "Super league" to the English Premiership - and let alone the Champions League - is simply too wide - for Kanstrup to bridge it. Then go for Daniel Agger although he is injury prone - he is tough and experienced and a good ball player!
Gerard Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Luis Hernandez is joining on a free and I think we'll go back in for Dragovic before the Euros start. Dragovic linked with Dortmund, it looks like they'll gazump us again. https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.sport1.de/fussball/bundesliga/2016/05/aleksandar-dragovic-ueber-dortmund-reizvoll-waere-es-auf-jeden-fall&prev=search

May be Fuchs can have a word and explain the EPL is the best league in the World. I think this will be one we do not get across the line. Shame.
Brainy Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 So now it's whatever Walsh says, unless he plays in a bang average league, is late 20s and doesn't have an international cap.
chicagofox Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 He is way below what we require. A Championship player at the very best - get quality rather than this! And you've scouted him on numerous occasions and have an in-depth knowledge of his abilities and lack thereof?

And you've scouted him on numerous occasions and have an in-depth knowledge of his abilities and lack thereof? No one is doubting Walsh but he's not omnipotent and we're allowed to express an opinion even if it's an uneducated one. Signing 27 years Danes who can't get a call up for a fairly average national team doesn't really whet the appetite for a club who has aspirations of being a top class team. If Walsh wants to bring him in then fine and I'll bow to his greater knowledge but if he wanted to sign a 27 year old in Doncaster reserves I'm entitled to have reservations rather than total faith that we've got another worldie.
MC Prussian Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Sounds like a definite Wasyl replacement to me Yeah, but he's only about ten years younger. He is way below what we require. A Championship player at the very best - get quality rather than this! "Way below"? We can't tell why Kanstrup has been followed by our scouting department, but it's safe to say our guys don't travel to places if they don't see anything particular in another player. He's most definitely part of some sort of a Danish "fairytale", with small-town club SønderjyskE challenging heavyweight Copenhagen FC for the title (although there are only three more matches to be played and Copenhagen are already seven points ahead). Our transfer history as of late has shown that it's not just about the general appeal of a player, but also how or if he fits into our system, with a certain work ethic and integrity required. Leicester City FC right now consist of many previously unknowns and some cast-offs. Under the guidance of an experienced manager and with some excellent backroom staff at the disposal, we've just won the league. Have a little faith in the people in charge. (Btw, what's @@shen's take on Kanstrup, I wonder?)
TheStig Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 And you've scouted him on numerous occasions and have an in-depth knowledge of his abilities and lack thereof? Of course.......
shen Posted 17 May 2016 Posted 17 May 2016 I'm not really in touch with the Superliga any more, so I can't really pass a fair judgement on him. From a couple of highlights and expert comments, I know he's been a vital piece in Sønderjyske's successful season, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. I can see parallels in his career path and those of Drinkwater and co having failed to make the grade at Brøndby and going down a division to get playing time. Maybe he's a late bloomer and 27 is not exactly old for a defender. After all, we got Morgan in when he was around that age, so I wouldn't be too worried about that. He'd be cheap with only one year left on his contract, but I doubt he'd be more than cover.
shen Posted 17 May 2016 Posted 17 May 2016 No better than Bene then. Next. Beneh has been injured for half the season though
mozartfox Posted 17 May 2016 Posted 17 May 2016 Beneh has been injured for half the season though Is he going to injured next season too?
shen Posted 18 May 2016 Posted 18 May 2016 Is he going to injured next season too? Maybe not. It could be a chronic thing? We should look to get a squad player in who doesn't spend half a season on the treatment table.
