I have the Samsung TV above and the picture quality is crisp and the colours vibrant. As said above you really want to go 50" minimum for 4k. How well does UHD deal with non HD tv? Is the interpolation or whatever its called good? hate it when you get blurry non HD channels on your TV.
nnfox Posted 6 July 2016 Posted 6 July 2016 I had a Sony, never really that happy with it although I except they are popular - maybe I was unlucky. I now have a Panasonic and have had it for two years and it is brilliant - cost about £500 - 600 ish. I took the conscious decision not to get 3D and haven't regretted it one bit. I'm yet to meet anyone who watches 3D with any regularity. What I would say is definitely do your research and look at reviews. Buying a TV is a big decision, especially if it is to be your main set so get it right. Take into account the size of yourroom too. Don't just get the biggest TV you can buy because if your room isn't big enough and you have to sit too close then that can be bad too.

This is me talking from a plasma perspective though and I'll hold my hands up and admit that this years LED panels, and top end models from last year, have finally caught up. Although I still like my plasma These sets are nowhere near a 500 budget though. But... ...having said that, if you're willing to use ebay, you can still find a few Panasonic plasmas doing the rounds. Had a quick look myself and you can get the GT, ST and VT models on there for around the 500 mark. Do some research on these, you will struggle to match picture quality on a current panel worth 1500 plus against the VT65. The final Panasonic plasmas were, and still are, superb.

I do like the Panasonic it looks good might go and have a look 2maro in store just to get a better idea

You're better off going for the best panel that isn't 4k since there's little point having 4k apart from Netflix, BT Sport Ultra HD and the next set of console upgrades. As a minimum I would look at the DX750B, but its 1100 quid.

She's put on a bit of timber since the early Sky TV days. Doesn't exactly fit the typical modern Sky sports tart profile these days - but I still wouldn't kick it out of bed
Larry_LCFC Posted 23 July 2016 Posted 23 July 2016 I find any SD content on a UHD TV is just a disaster. I remember watching Leicester last season on sky sports SD and the lagging of the players and the ball was infuriating. Upgraded to Sky HD and it was fine. Just can't upscale SD enough to work properly on a UHD tv. I'd only buy one if you have HD channels as a minimum.
