Okah i need to get a new tv for under 500 ave seen a few but some people swear the LG is the best and others are like Samsung and others be like JVC so my question is what is the TV to get? Min i want is full HD and maybe smart not fussed about UHD or 4k as everyone keeps saying there is no point lol

I would not dismiss 4k and uhd as whilst they are not there yet they will undoubtedly become mainstream given time.

Maybe check out the 'Which' reports for TV comparisons, ratings and reviews. I've always gone for a Panasonic or Sony personally...

I remember remotes that had a curly cable which attached to the TV lol

This. Just bought a Sony smart tv to replace my LG smart tv.

The LG was absolutely fine but I wanted a bigger screen and when I saw that Sony had a dedicated football function, that swung it!

Oh mmm gonna look at Sony tvs now lol

We have just bought an LG 52" curved screen HD. Great picture. Good UI.

Had a Samsung before and the picture quality does not match the LG. So I recommend LG

Sony/Panasonic best picture quality, Samsung/LG best for apps (Sony's app lineup is appalling)

Hard to buy a crap TV these days, they all look excellent

Don't get hung up on this brand loyalty nonsense, at any one time different manufacturers have better offerings at some price points than others.  Every manufacturer listed in this thread will have put their name to some shite at some point.

Buy from John Lewis or Richer Sounds to get a 5/6 year warranty, and check out review sites like Trusted Reviews or What Hi-fi (yes, they do tellys as much as audio kit).  Technology advances quickly so check how long a model has been out - it's very easy for the unwary to buy something that's a couple of years out of date for the same price as they could buy the current, better specced model somewhere else.

4k/UHD only really worth having on screens bigger than 40".

Some current models now have 'Freetime', which basically means you can go back through the TV Guide and pick programmes from that and it will fire up the relevant catch up app, without having to go into it yourself and search for it

If you're willing to put a little bit towards it then these two are decent.

I have the Samsung TV above and the picture quality is crisp and the colours vibrant.

As said above you really want to go 50" minimum for 4k.

I was strictly Sony or Panasonic for a few years. But currently have 2 Samsung. Have to say I'm yet to find a fault at the prices we paid.

Also has a dedicated football button. Which Brightens picture which in HD mode is a bit much lol.

Sunglasses required. OK I've just found the fault.
