A day on the fells, a night on the shrooms. Bliss.

It's years since I've been, and you're really making me want to go back, but small children make these jaunts more logistically challenging than they were. Is it OK to give under 5's magic mushrooms? I mean, what could possibly go wrong
Finnegan Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 I love that Oswin says he's not very outdoorsy so you recommend him one of the most remote hamlets in the country.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to take drugs, it has to come from within (I know you're joking).

Describing it as a hamlet makes it sound more built up than it is. Character building. Sink or swim. In for a penny, in for a pound etc. It's either outdoors or it isn't, and if it's the former, you might as well go somewhere good. You could go somewhere in Derbyshire or wherever, expend almost as much effort and it be far less special. In fairness, I think it was either my first or second time camping and I loved it

Things have changed over here, you know - including the population numbers (an increase from six to eight million people). Try finding a secluded spot now.
Smudge Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 When I was young, about 15, I went camping with my cousin who was an Eagle Scout, so he'd done few hundred times. I, on the other hand, had never been in a tent before, it turned out to be the most miserable night of my life. Cold, uncomfortable and if neither one of those discomforts didn't keep me awake the bloody flapping tent material from wind and rain did. The following morning I went home. So **** the camping stay at the Wasdale Head Inn. Comfy bed, bathroom and a pub for the evenings. Lovely jubbly!!
