Ozwin Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I am about as far from an outdoorsy type as you can get but I have this sudden urge to go do it in the Lake/Peak district somewhere and get away from everything for a few days. Somewhere cheap, cheerful and with a chance to do a bit of hiking about would be brill.
VLC86 Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 The Lakes and Peak District are very nice if you like that kind of thing and j would recommend The New Forest and Wells Next To The Sea but the later is more of a town.
Guest Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Go to lake coniston and tent in the forest near the water's edge.
VLC86 Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 In all seriousness just camp in your garden mate so at least you don't have to shit in a hole.

bovril Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Go full Pearson and spend a week in the Carpathians, fighting off wild dogs and brigands.
Christoph Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 The lakes and peaks are both very nice. I prefer the lakes just because it's a bit higher and more ruggid. You might wanna look at Snowdonia in Wales too. I really enjoyed going there and walking up Snowdon. I think anyone is entitled to camp for free in the Scottish Highlands? So if you wanted super cheap you could maybe go there (although the petrol up there and back might not make it as cheap). I did find the places I stayed around the Lakes and Snowdonia to be quite pricey though and because it's in season the camping might be a bit more too.
Finnegan Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Edale in the peaks. Easy, close, cheap. Otherwise somewhere near Keswick.

Guest Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I see quite a few people camping out in the city centres these days, around bus stops and shop doorways. Not sure what the appeal is but at least it's convenient if you need to stock up on supplies.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 If you really want to get away from it all, the National Trust campsite at Wasdale Head takes some beating
Guest Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 btw you do mean camping in a tent don't you? Not walking around looking a little bit gay and making "are you being served" comments.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Just take a tent, a crate of stella and pitch on Great Yarmouth beach.

MC Prussian Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Somewhere in Scotland like Loch Earn, Lubnaig or Venachar. Gorgeous in summer.

Blimey, is that still there? That dredges up some good memories. There's a cracking pub there, iirc.
