DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 September 2016 Posted 25 September 2016 i believe that Claudio will have no choice in the matter, and that this will be an extremely problematical one for us. Last season we had a much smaller squad, and only the domestic season to contend with, but things have altered dramatically since then, as we have the Champions League to contend with, It will be completely necessary to chop and change, in order to give experience to most of our squad. We will have to gel, and find the finest permutation, to suit our needs. There was posters on here, the other day, who seemed to want the big guns to be put out against Man. U. It has to be appreciated, that this season we are in an unprecedented situation, and unlike any other season in the history of Leicester City.Being the champions of England, has brought about this unique situation. All the big clubs have not had to deal with this kind of pressure for many years, and maintained their momentum, with massive transfer deals, whilst already knowing basis of how to play their squads. We are having to learn, and to learn you cross into unknown territory, for want of a better phraseology. The message is, that this will be a season of ups and downs, as Claudio has the unenviable task, of having to "tinker, with players and formations.. People need to realise and appreciate this problem, and get behind the manager and squad, and not get on the club's back.
Stevosevic Posted 25 September 2016 Posted 25 September 2016 We are losing games this season so changes are justified.
FireFox Posted 25 September 2016 Posted 25 September 2016 Simpson, Morgan, and Drinky played 300 minutes against Burnley, Chelsea, and Man U. Drinky and Morgan can't really be replaced, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see Hernandez start at RB soon. And I just think Simpson deserves dropping after that awful Man U performance. All 3 corners were from his side, pretty sure he could have done better on at least one of them to not concede the corner.
Sir Shep Posted 25 September 2016 Posted 25 September 2016 From what I've seen of Hernandez he looks like a car crash waiting to happen, it's early days but I feel we shall rue not enforcing defensively.

This often leads to lots of corners conceded. We can't really change that, letting them come inside means more opportunity to score. Our concentration on set pieces was off against Man Utd, which can be improved.
weller54 Posted 25 September 2016 Posted 25 September 2016 We're not just losing games... We're getting slaughtered!

If we are concerned about conceding corners then we really are in the sh*t you could argue that he needed to come around more quickly on the cover for mata's goal but yesterday up against rashford was never going to be much fun for him.
Foxbythesea Posted 25 September 2016 Posted 25 September 2016 If we're losing, eccpsecislly by conceding 2 or 3 goals a game plus, Claudio is doing the right thing by "tinkering". Let's just hope he makes the right desicions.

foxy boxing Posted 26 September 2016 Posted 26 September 2016 he will have to tinker more this season with a bigger squad, more games and trying to keep all the players he has happy. whether he tinkers more with the formation instead of playing 4 4 2 all the time

After all the pre-season talk from Claudio about needling a Plan B this season, I do wonder whether this has been practised on the training ground and they are confused and are simply not able to take on board said Plan B? Or is that me using a 'thick footballer' stereotype? It it seems to me going back to making Plan A work might be a better idea at the moment. Its just very difficult to understand the drop off in simple tactical awareness defensively.

STUHILL Posted 26 September 2016 Posted 26 September 2016 Tinkering will definitely be needed this year. My concern is, the quality of the players that we have to come in. Players like King, Was, Hernandez etc, all seem to be below what is required to compete in the Prem. I think we needed to invest more in the Summer window and had an extra 3 players so we could cope better. Hopefully we can get to January without too much damage being done and can address the areas that need strengthening like CM and CB.
Thracian Posted 26 September 2016 Posted 26 September 2016 To a great extent I agree Stuhill, although Kingy had hardly played since the Euros, looked decidedly rusty, yet helped us look a lot more solid second half against United for all that they'd gone into "relaxed" mode. I was amazed by the hammering he took after the Chelsea game given that, despite his previous lack of action, he still retained the ball far better than most and likely had more touches than most (though I've not checked the stats), and even made a goal. Truth is the new signings have hardly justified their price tags or inclusion as yet, with the exception of Slimani who looks promising. So what we've actually done is replace provenly effective players who know our methods, like Kingy, Shinji, Schlupp and the shamefully departed Kante with others who haven't generally served to improve us at all as yet. Even the much-trumpeted promise of Chilwell remains no more than potential from the evidence of his efforts against Chelsea. The injury to Mendy has forced us to give a mammoth task to Amartey before he's ready, King having presumably been needing a break after the Euros. The no-touch ruling has had a detrimental effect on our defenders, as has the pre-season touring on top of the Euro effect and it's all added up to a disappointing start. Trouble is tinkering's only good if you've got better alternatives to tinker with and, while we may spend more wisely in the new year, that doesn't negate the mistakes already made, won't likely save at least some of our season and I'd doubt we'll seem like a more appealing prospect to the calibre of players we want, come January, than we were in the close season just gone. Quite the opposite. Failure to build on our achievements of last season may make it harder to hang onto the good guys we've got, particularly the most ambitious like Mahrez, Slimani and Drinkwater. We need to adjust to our new status and quickly. All this reference to last year's title is past history now. What matters, as always in football, is the future.
Blizzard Posted 26 September 2016 Posted 26 September 2016 Its true, the side misses Kante, also Mendy injured is not helping. You cannot single out Simpson on Saturday, the whole team went to sleep when the third goal was scored from the corner, none of them were concentrating or ready. You are never going to come back from 3 nil down at Old Trafford. We are trying a new style of play, and its not working. Utd were scared of us, or sussing us out for the first twenty minutes, when the first goal went in the whole game changed. Our defence in the first half literally collapsed after they scored the first goal. Bringing in new signings always brings risks, at the minute all of the new signings have to prove themselves, which as yet they have not.
FireFox Posted 27 September 2016 Posted 27 September 2016 I was right on Hernandez coming in for Simpson. Doubt we will see rotation for Southampton - being on Sunday, 5 days away, and international break after. Unless Mendy is fit and Claudio wants to Tinker.

foxes21 Posted 28 September 2016 Posted 28 September 2016 think we need to rotate for the chelsea/copenhagen game tbh. With international games the week before, players like Morgan, Okazaki, Vardy, Mahrez, Slimani, will be knackered. Play full strength vs Copenhagen, & possibly this Vs Chelsea? Kasper Simpson Hernandez Huth Fuchs Drinkwater Mendy Amartey Gray Musa Kaputska
