Do goalkeepers really do their homework?

i am sure they study some of the well known penalty takers but you can't really study every player. at best it is just guessing where the taker is going to put the ball. nine out of ten times a player will put it in the bottom right hand corner but on one occasion will put it in the left hand corner. at best it is a lottery where you have to give yourself the best variables to save the penaly

Kasper is useless at penalties.

He's definitely got worse over the years. His first season with us I recall him saving quite a few penalties. His last penalty save came in April 2013 against Barnsley, since then he's not saved any of the last 14 penalties he's faced for us.

Yeah, same. One against Boro sticks out as well to ensure we won the game.

But nowadays it's like he just dives too early.

Yes and when he is in mid air almost before the kick is taken, is it any wonder?

Stand up ffs

Interesting comments guys.

A Keeper can never know where the Penalty is going but he can attempt to out fox (forgive the pun!) the taker.

I bet there was plenty watching thinking stay still and because of Janssen's previous penalties no one would have knocked Kasper for doing so..

Someone at some point this season will do exactly that if Janssen gets another opportunity.

The last keeper we had who was any good at saving penalties was Paul Cooper. If anyone remembers him.

I don't think Kasper is great in this respect.

Mark Bunn was pretty good;) Faced one penalty here on his debut against Bristol Rovers and saved it:ph34r: that's a 100% record!

Against Rickie Lambert too haha

He was awful yeah lol was thinking back to a few penalty shootouts he had with Portugal and he saved loads. Came to us under Sven and lost the plot.
